„Икономиката в сянка“ като девиантна практика: теоретични начала и проблематизиране

Author(s): Emilia Chengelova,Lyuba D. Spasova / Language(s): English,Bulgarian Issue: 5/2017

: Proceeding from the view that shady economic practices are specific forms of deviant behaviour motivated by economic objectives, the article presents some of the leading theories and concepts of social deviation, and discusses them in their application to the origin of shadow economy practices, seen as socio–economic activities that are legally authorized but in intentional viola-tion of the legal framework and economic regulations. By theorizing shady practices in the wider perspective of the concepts of social deviations (behav-iours that deviate from the norms of a given society at a given time), the authors are able to take the study beyond the purely economic mechanisms and reveal elements in the genesis and reproduction of shady practices that are common to most deviations, as well as elements specific to the analysed phenomenon

Higher Education as a Heterogeneous Good: Vertical Education-Job Mismatch among Graduates

Author(s): Petya Ilieva-Trichkova,Pepka Boyadjieva / Language(s): English Issue: Special/2017

The article aims to explore the social embeddedness of the labour market misbalances for highly educated people, using Bulgaria as a case study. It argues that the labour market misbalances for highly educated people mirror structural problems in the economy and the educational system. These misbalances represent a way for fighting against unemployment, but this comes at a certain “price”. The adopted theoretical approach to graduate employability highlights its two sides, the individual’s and the socio-structural aspects. The analysis is based on data from the Bulgarian Universities Ranking System and the National Social Security Institute and uses descriptive statistics and multilevel modelling. The study reveals that the level of vertical education-job mismatch depends on profiles of higher education institutions and professional fields. It also differs significantly by gender, year of graduation and educational degree. The article shows that under conditions of its massification and diversification, higher education increasingly functions as a positional and heterogeneous good.

Езикът на тялото в бизнес комуникацията

Author(s): Gergana Fyrkova / Language(s): English,Bulgarian Issue: 5/2018

What does body language reveal about us and others? Darwin was the first to connect facial expressions to behavior patterns that are of much earlier origin than spoken language. According to social anthropologist Edward T. Hall, in a conversation between two people, only 35% of the socially relevant information is passed through words. Nearly 65% of the cues in the direct communication process pass through paraverbal channels. When there is a discrepancy between cues, we usually trust the non-verbal ones. Signs and gestures do not lie; they reflect a person’s true intentions. All mental changes appear immediately at a non-verbal level and the signals received through sight, which are charged with much more information, are directly processed by the brain without being filtered. Body language can also serve as an effective tool of influence. The ability to master it and use it is particularly important in the business world. The article discusses the practical effects of non-verbal communication and seeks to explain why non-verbal codes should not be underestimated.

Обособяване на изкуството

Author(s): Niklas Luhmann / Language(s): English,Bulgarian Issue: 3/2019

In the following two texts, Niklas Luhmann discusses the emergence and the differentiation of art as a social system. This process begins during the Renaissance and reaches its full-scale development with Romanticism, around the end of the 18th century. Of central importance is Luhmann’s account of communication, understood as behavior coordinated by symbolically generalized social codes. The German sociologist analyzes how the system of art functions today and criticizes the meaning that the concepts of “artist” and “spectator” have acquired in the Modern Age.

Author(s): Isidora Jarić,Miloš Đerić / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 5/2019

During last several decades, sociological profession has faced serious challenges, both globally and locally. Within the context of labor market in Serbia these challenges, along with inadequate response of professional community; have resulted in the loss of professional monopoly for some job positions and roles. Once respected experts, sociologists, have lost professional monopoly on jobs recognized and affirmed by: (a) state, governmental and independent institutions; (b) business organizations; (c) civil society organizations; and (d) international organizations, all of which employ sociologists with diplomas received from universities in the Republic of Serbia. Although examples for this are numerous, we will limit the analysis to three case studies regarding professional positions of: (1) sociology teacher; (2) researcher in market research industry; and (3) employees of various international organizations. Analysis will use several different sources of empirical data: (a) various legislation and by-laws, especially rules on employment requirements (in state, public, and individual organizations); (b)job advertisements, where we will analyze required competencies for particular positions; and (c) current curriculums for BA and MA studies of sociology on the Department of Sociology Faculty of Philosophy University of Belgrade, where we will analyze provided professional competencies. Analysis will attempt to answer the question if there is a gap between professional competencies provided by study programs and those required of sociologists in the labor market. If the gap exists, we will provide potential solutions on the way in which it can be bridged and position of sociologists on labor market in Serbia improved.

Education for Sustainable Development comes to restart and update basic pedagogical concepts for environmental education. It is generally accepted notion and it is a part of international documents and research. The existing other similar concepts just specify it, emphasize its multidimensional, and equally essential aspects. In this article, we discuss three main emphasis – cultural, conceptual and educational. We bring to the fore a synergistic approach to understanding problems and their possible solutions. The pedagogical dimensions of the concept are conceptualized, meaningful and procedural. In our opinion, this is the basis for the successful justification of a specific instructional design in a variety of training events.

Оценяването по роден език в контекста на националните образователни стратегии

Author(s): Snezhanka Dobreva Georgieva / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 6/2020

In the last decade the effectiveness of the Bulgarian language education has been sought, not only in the processes of successfully transforming the knowledge-centric to a competency-based approach, nor solely in the communicative-pragmatic study of language units/categories and text models. It stays related to an evaluation (quantitatively and qualitatively) correlated with new forming and creative strategies, realized under the shared activities and responsibilities for both educational subjects – teachers and students. In the context of contemporary assessment and training strategies, this research presents results accumulated by a multi-year, multi-faceted, experimental study of trends in the evaluation activity of Bulgarian language teachers in Bulgaria. The analysis of these results presents not only in the plan of ascertainment, but also as a prospect – as possible effective changes in the communicative pedagogical models of assessment. The prospective positivity of teacher’s evaluative activity is justified not only in the context of compliance with normative documents and criteria. It is also in the context of personally predetermined parameters whose text production is the subject of evaluation (motivation for speech development, axiological register, emotional intelligence, reflexive competence, etc.).
