Author(s): Józef Stala / Language(s): German Issue: 1/2013

In a society shaken by tensions and conflicts caused by the clash of various kinds of individualism and selfishness, children need to be enriched with a sense of the personal dignity of each individual, true love and sincere service to the others, especially the poorest and those in most need. The family is the first and fundamental school of upbringing: as a community of life and love. Every Christian family finds its mission received from God in self-giving that inspires the love of husband and wife for each other and the self-giving that is practiced in the relationships between brothers and sisters and the different generations living together in the family. The author of this article shows the actual threats to religious upbringing and education in the family with special attention given to the postmodern socio-cultural context. He also highlights financial, social, moral and religious crisis influencing the family life and education. Then asks for the roots of these negative phenomena and searches for the pedagogical solution.

“Sconfitte emozionali” dei genitori

Author(s): Janusz Mastalski / Language(s): Italian Issue: 1/2017

In a family all kinds of conflicts and problems occur that affect both the parents and their children. The conflicts which are especially painful are those related to the inability of parents to deal with their own emotions and feelings. In this article, after clarifying the main concepts, the author first discusses the typical features of parental emotions and feelings (creativity, proximity, intensity) in order to identify the reasons for “emotional defeats” (the inability to express emotions, the inability to recognize emotions, emotional liability, “getting stuck” in some emotion, harmful suppression of emotions, masking of one’s feelings, stress, fatigue, addiction). Secondly, the author describes their effects (codependency, emotional distance, weakening of emotional ties, superficiality, impaired communication, “internal emigration”, family identity crisis). At the end, he discusses toxic tactics in dealing with these defeats (suppression; avoidance; pretending they do not exist; transfer of emotions on others; resignation in coping with emotions). Consequentially, these tactics lead them to formulate remedies. A discussion of these solutions concludes the article.

Memories of Adults Regarding Relations with Parents in Childhood

Author(s): Elżbieta Osewska / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2017

Research into memory in adults reminiscing about childhood memories is not well‑established. Some people seem to have vivid memories from very early ages, while others remember events beginning around age four or five. The aim of this article is to present memories of adults regarding relationships with their parents in childhood based on two surveys. First research was undertaken by the Public Opinion Research Centre (in Polish: Centrum Badania Opinii Społecznej). Second one, qualitative research of childhood relations was conducted by the author of this article among students of family studies from The Cardinal Wyszyński University in Warsaw. On the basis of quantitative and qualitative research on Poles with regard to their childhood memories, several conclusions may be drawn. First of all, the surveyed Poles have positive childhood memories with regard to relations with parents and the process of upbringing. A larger proportion stresses a better bond with their mother. Only in some of the quoted recollections of students, there appears greater significance of relations with father, who gave them a sense of security, pointed out values and established a model of masculinity. A large number of the polled adults declared that parents were close to them and cared for their social, moral and religious education.

Author(s): Joanna Wierzejska / Language(s): Polish Issue: 1/2018

Job preparation determines the likelihood of realizing his or her own career path in the labor market by graduates of institutions of higher education. It also determines the quality and effects of their future work. This is particularly important in jobs of public trust, which include the profession of a pedagogue, as a specialist in the broadly understood activity of supporting his or her protégés. Contemporary educator is a humanist, distinguished by inner richness, ability to act with ideological motives, socialization, openness to other people's affairs, creative relationship with socialreality, rationality of thinking and care for a dependent [see Ćwikliński 2013, p. 53; Śliwerski 2010].How well prepared are young Polish and Ukrainian pedagogues studying in different educational systems? The Family Communio Personarum and Upbringing

Author(s): Józef Stala,Jadranka Garmaz / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2018

Not only are marriage and the family, natural and religious institutions but, above all, they are communities of persons fulfilling their personal calling. However, communio personarum does not only result from the natural relations, but is a consequence of faith, which unites family with Jesus Christ. This article will present the pedagogical conse-quences of acknowledging the family as communio personarum, including the fact that every family is a privileged place of upbringing and parents, who bestowed the gift of life upon their child, have been gifted with a wealth of upbringing skills. The marital relation, as a “me” and “you” relation, constitutes the foundation for other family relations, as well as the everyday educational support for the child. Parents, however, accompany their children in forming their mature personality and religiousness.

Emigrazione economica dei giovani polacchi come fattore significativo di sfide all’interno del matrimonio e della famiglia nella perspettiva canonistica

Author(s): Aleksandra Brzemia-Bonarek / Language(s): Italian Issue: 1/2018

In Poland, in the last 25 years, theologians, lawyers, sociologist and psychologists have discussed significant changes in the field of marriage and family. The political transfor-mations caused not only economic development, but also cultural transformation and globalization of social phenomena. Among such issues there is the problem of the emi-gration of young polish citizens. Apart from the positive economic and cultural aspects of working abroad, some negative influence on the strength and unity of the families has been observed. In the article effort was made to examine the impact of labor migration on the reorientation of the general family in the light of matrimonial nullity processes, where the emigrant was involved as the Petitioner or the Respondent party. The author`s conclusion is that it is the last chance to create and put into practice, as soon as possible, the modern and interdisciplinary program of pastoral care directed to the families of the migrants, especially the new generation.

Niepłodność – problem polskich rodzin w dyskursie publicznym ostatniego dziesięciolecia

Author(s): Beata Łaciak / Language(s): Polish Issue: 21 (1)/2016
