Rzeczywistość, która istnieje obok nas (…) – problem bezdomności i jego ocena

Author(s): Krystian Kucharczyk,Sławomir Woźniak / Language(s): Polish Issue: 5-6/2017

Today, especially when we talk about the rapid development of the economy and technology, and the progressive process of globalization, the topic of homelessness can not be silenced. Homelessness visible in the Polish reality arouses anxiety, often combined with compassion or stigma. The following article assessed the reality of homelessness in two basic dimensions: first an assessment of homelessness affecting an individual person was made: violation of his dignity, various forms of rejection: marginalization of a man, deprivation of work, disturbed attitude to the family, homelessness including families. This study also evaluates homelessness in relation to the community that is society. Relations between the homeless and the society have been shown, among others the talk was about homeless people’s relation to social structures, about the lack of perspective on permanent work, about reluctance and even hostility towards other members of society, and finally about the lack of prospects for their own housing.

Полни аспект стратегија суочавања са стресом и њихове повезаности са потенцијалом за развод

Author(s): Ivana Strizović,Jelena Šakotić-Kurbalija,Biljana Trifunović / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 4/2017

The study was conducted in order to determine the relationship between the coping strategies and divorce potential in couples. Based on the Levinger’s Model of cohesiveness and Bodennman’s stress-model, the existence of gender differences in coping with stress was expected, and that the non-adaptive coping skills were to be positive about the potential for divorce, while the adaptive strategies of coping with stress should be linked with a lower potential for divorce. 378 couples have participated in this study. The instruments used were the Brief COPE Scale (Carver, 1997) and a short form of the Martial Instability Index (Booth, Johnson & Edwards, 1983; retrieved from Tadinac et al., 2005). The results showed that the woman in dealing with stressful situations use self destruction, denial of problems and venting, and also search for emotional and instrumental support. On the other hand, in dealing with stressful situations, males abuse substances. Using logistic regression it was showed that within both males and females there are significant differences between the coping strategies and divorce potential. Looking at the results more precisely, the males who deny the problem, use emotional support, rarely use venting, accept problems and rarely self-blame themselves have greater divorce potential. On the other hand, women who more frequently use emotional support and venting have greater divorce potential. The results are in line with the basic theoretical assumptions of this study.

Z DZIEĆMI O CIERPIENIU

Author(s): Maria Szczepska-Pustkowska,Małgorzata Lewartowska-Zychowicz,Longina Strumska-Cylwik / Language(s): Polish Issue: 4/2017

This text is dedicated to the issue of suffering which has always been and still is a real theoretical and methodological challenge. Suffering is an inevitable aspect of human existence and a component of human condition, and it requires conceptualization and methodological solutions. Even though it seems that suffering is a category very well-known to pedagogy, as well as one well accustomed by it, in fact pedagogy hardly deals with it conceptually. We can even talk about pedagogical evasion rather than about pedagogical solutions to the problem of suffering. Issues of suffering, situated in the context of discussing it with children, are the object of interest to the authors of the text.

Vaiko apsaugos veiksmingumo problemos Lietuvoje

Author(s): Ilona Tamutienė / Language(s): Lithuanian Issue: 1/2018

This article identifies the main problems which have negative impact on efficiency of child protection. The article is based on case analysis of 203 families at social risk carried out in 2015–2016 and on qualitative interviews of 23 children growing in families at social risk which were conducted in 2016–2017. The content and context analysis are performed of the basis of this data. The protection procedures starting with reports to the Department of Child Rights’ Protection, case investigations, application of relevant interventions and finally evaluation of help efficiency are reconstructed. The principles of effective child protection distinguished by Eileen Munro has been chosen as the basis of the evaluation and identification of the main barrier to the efficient child protection. It has been identified that the process of practical protection is not centred on the child’s problems and needs, but it only focuses on the parents’ problems. Children are not sufficiently enabled to participate in their own protection process. Majority of the neglected and abused children are not helped because they are not listened to and their experiences are ignored, although 5 institutional professionals are “working” with the family. The fragments of social work with child has been found only among the experiences of the children attending Children’s Care Day Centres. It can be certainly stated that there is clear lack of services for children. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the Children’s Day Care Centres, to find possibilities to finance social workers and psychologists to work with children, since only family (adults) centred protection is not effective. It is recommended to improve the training of child care specialists and raise the professional level of those in practice.

Regionalne placówki opiekuńczo-terapeutyczne podmiotami instytucjonalnej pieczy zastępczej nad dziećmi

Author(s): Beata Krajewska / Language(s): Polish Issue: 1/2017

Family is unchangeably the most important environment of education and care for a child as well as the place of satisfying the child’s needs. During realizationof family tasks there may arise significant problems causing difficulties in performing functions of such centres, including care and educational function, generating the need for support by different entities, including the placement of children outside their family house along with foster family care and institutional foster custody. The thesis is devoted to one of the institutional foster custody forms, namely regional care and therapeutic centres. It happens that childcare must be specialized, connected with rehabilitation and provided by a special facility. Regional care and therapeutic centres are such facilities and their description, both from the theoretical point of view and the analysis of performed surveys, has become the aim of the thesis. It seems so important, because so far the issue has not been given much attention in literature, including pedagogical literature; the centres occupy an important place in the system of childcare.

In the process of education there are changesin personality from the point of view of the normative ideal, and the result of these actions depends on the system of values determined by pupils. Guardianship is carried out regardless of what system of values is acknowledged by a ward and whether hewants changes that go toward recognition of socially approved norms. Rodzina zastępcza miejscem doświadczania bliskości

Author(s): Barbara Lulek / Language(s): Polish Issue: 2/2017

Family is the most natural and essential community of people, based on bonds of blood and love. Having unique character, family is remarkably significant for harmonious development of man’s personality and for all structures formed by theman. Properly functioning family satisfies child’s basic needs like the feeling of security, acceptance, experiencing and returning love, appreciation and interaction. Jakość komunikacji w relacjach rodzice-dziecko w rodzinach emigracyjnych

Jakość komunikacji w relacjach rodzice-dziecko w rodzinach emigracyjnych

Author(s): Irena Pufal-Struzik,Barbara Sordyl-Lipnicka / Language(s): Polish Issue: 2/2017

The article shows how children from families experiencing economic emigration (parents/parents, the whole family with the child) perceive communication with their parents. Communication, in addition to cohesion and flexibility, isthe third dimension of the family in The Circumplex Model of Marital and Family Systems by David Olson and is an important resource in the family in which changes occur in response to the emergence of a crisis. Such a situation may be a separation of the child from the parent/parents or departure to a foreign country. The analysisis based on the results of the study, which involved 320 primary and lower secondary school students (170 girls and 150 boys, mean age 13.73). The quality of communication in parent-child relationships was measured by the Parent-Adolescent Communication Scale developed by H. Barnes and D. Olson in 1982, which allowed for a degree of openness and communication difficulties. The results of the study indicate that a significant group of children from families of emigrant mothers and fathers highly appreciate open communication with their mothers, and openness is exacerbated when both parents leave. The communication with the absent father(by phone, the Internet) is more open. Approximately 1/5 of the children surveyed do not see serious difficulties in communicating with their mothers, but the temporary separation of the child and father intensifies communication difficulties. Apart from the type of emigrant family, the other factors influencing the child’s perception of communication with parents are the child’s age and length of emigration.
