Vocalire: les 7500 mots essentiels pour l’enseignement du vocabulaire français ou son auto-apprentissage en autonomie (colleges, lycees, français langue seconde ou etrangere)

Author(s): Jean-Claude Rolland,Jacqueline Picoche / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2016

The main points covered in this article are: 1. The genesis of VOCALIRE: its filiation with an earlier work by the same authors, the Dictionnaire du Français Usuel, of which it is an abridged version, but also its grounding on its own original research. 2. The originality of a method of teaching French vocabulary based not on themes but on the constitution – from a limited number of words of very high frequency – of whole networks involving their multiple meanings, derivatives, and other words semantically linked. 3. The structure of the articles, in which the main sections have complete sentences for titles. Good examples will explain their usefulness for teaching or independent learning, and demonstrate that this is in no way a dictionary in the usual sense of the word.

Справя ли се Гугъл-преводач с превода на фразеологизми и помощник ли е в чуждоезиковото обучение

Author(s): Kalin Vassilev / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2016

The purpose of this article is to show the currently limited abilities of automatic translation, where the translation of syntactic models shows certain imperfections. Based on the experiment performed, the conclusions reached are that we cannot recommend to beginner and intermediate Modern Greek language learners to rely on the service of Google Translate for translation of phraseological units unless they are proficient in the language, as well as acquainted with native speakers psychology. Those imperfections are frequently noticed while translating texts in synthetic languages, such as Modern Greek, despite the analytical tendencies. The examples shown in this article focus particularly on linguistic and methodical issues.

Изграждане на представата за Германската демократична република в българските учебници по немски език от 60-те и 70-те години на ХХ в.

Author(s): Vesela Belcheva,Svilen Stanchev / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2016

The process of teaching German as a foreign language during the socialist period used to serve two major goals: mastering the language as a means of communication on the one hand and formation of a new socialist worldview of the students on the other. A popular Marxist slogan from the period states that ‘a foreign language is a weapon in the battle of life’ and thus creating the ‘correct’ image of the German Democratic Republic of the working classes (the GDR) in language students was seen as an essential element of education. The paper takes into account German textbooks published in Bulgaria in the second half of the 20th century. The analysis of the historical and academic data gleaned from the textbooks focuses mainly on the techniques of introducing information about the GDR to Bulgarian learners of German, the historical figures and events presented in the texts, as well as the influence of socialist ideology prevalent at the time on textual materials.

Дидактика и превод. Школският метод „психагогия“ и синонимните биноми в българската преводна практика през ранния XIX век

Author(s): Dragomira Valtcheva / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2016

This paper puts forth the thesis that the early translations into Modern Bulgarian (2nd quarter of the 19th century) were profoundly influenced by the methods of teaching Ancient Greek authors which had been used ever since the Byzantine period. A focus is put on a particular translation technique consisting in the abundant use of synonymic binomials to replace single lexical items of the source text. It is argued that this technique has its origins in a traditional teaching method known as “psychagogia” which was largely applied in Greek education during the Ottoman period (1453-1821).
