It is very important to deal with the phenomenon of hyperactivity, since only children with healthy minds grow into well-balanced adults. ADHD is a complex phenomenon affecting the life of many school children and many communities. It is essential to find these children as early as possible, and start their appropriate treatment. Because of the wounds they sustain, they can easily be lead astray and may be exposed to the risk of becoming misfits.

Die Gestaltung des Schülerorientierten Fremdsprachenunterrichts

Author(s): Belma Šator / Language(s): German Issue: XVI/2018

This article addresses the pupil-oriented foreign language teaching and its design. Pupil orientation means that the teacher is guided by pupils' interests and prior knowledge when planning and delivering lessons. The pupil-oriented teaching also means that the teachers' educational task is clearly defined. Pupil orientation is of particular importance for the teaching in classroom, because it creates a positive attitude of the pupils towards the school, the learning process and the teacher. Another positive effect is that it significantly strengthens pupils' self-confidence and motivation to learn. Pupil orientation can be demonstrated, for example, by regular student feedback or participation in lessons. Pupils are actively involved in the teaching in classroom and as a target group taken seriously and looked at critically. This article specifically presented some possibilities and suggestions on how to work pupil-oriented in the classroom.

Die Wohnvorstellungen der Kinder

Die Wohnvorstellungen der Kinder

Author(s): Aleksandra Muraj / Language(s): German Issue: 18/1995

Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality - Trends in Pedagogy

Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality - Trends in Pedagogy

Author(s): Răzvan - Alexandru Călin / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2018

Virtual reality has recently become a trend that each and everyone appreciates, which everybody wants – and constantly tries – to understand, is a topic that is stirring interest at all times. Using virtual reality, along with several other fields related to it, may seem unstable at first, but once the necessary information is assimilated, their utility starts to sound promising. Our study aims to bring together the benefits of virtual, augmented and mixed reality within a classroom, emphasizing their use in the formation of a teacher. Starting with an investigative approach based on J. C. Flanagan’s Critical Incident Technique, and combined with P.C. Smith and L.M. Kendall’s Development of Behaviorally Anchored Rating Scales (which is purposed to identify the main competencies a teacher that is correctly adapted to the Digital Natives era should possess), this study aims to emphasize the potential applicability of virtual reality in constructing certain competencies, such as communicative, informational, technological, instrumental, decisional, appreciative or competencies related to using new technologies. The conclusions reflect a series of advantages and disadvantages of the virtual environment and the applicative way in which these can be used to complete what we already possess or we aspire to obtain.

Rozwijanie empatii jako forma przeciwdziałania przemocy rówieśniczej w środowisku szkolnym

Rozwijanie empatii jako forma przeciwdziałania przemocy rówieśniczej w środowisku szkolnym

Author(s): Renata Kopyś / Language(s): Polish Issue: 3/2018

The aim of this article is to present ways of understanding and developing empathy in the context of peer relationships in children. It seems essential to define the correlation between empathy and the reduction of school violence and aggression. Empathy is a component of interpersonal communication and a condition for the proper functioning of a child in a peer group. Active listening and mindfulness training improve the bond between members of the school community and, in the long run, limit risky behaviour in children. Empathy connects with other components of social competence, such as assertiveness, collaboration, communicativeness and influence. The ability to understand others’ emotions and behaviours, feeling compassion and an ability to look at reality from a different perspective are very crucial in resolving conflict situations. Experiencing the unique world of events, thoughts, feelings and desires of another human being is possible only in a personal relationship that creates opportunities for establishing and maintaining positive social relationships. The article describes ways to develop empathy at school, such as drama and Rosenberg’s “The Non-Violence Arrangements”.

Tutoring rodzinny jako element kultury szkoły

Author(s): Monika Jakubowska / Language(s): Polish Issue: 3/2018

Introduction. The aim of the article is a family tutoring analysis as part of the school culture. The conclusions come from the ongoing two-year study of the female primary school culture, which implements a personalised education model. Material and methods. The case study is based on qualitative and complementary quantitative research methods. The research questions concerned the place of tutoring in the school culture, its perception and evaluation from the perspective of students, teachers and parents. Results. The perception and evaluation of tutoring by the examined three school community groups are largely consistent. They show that differences are primarily related to the number of the most visible school artefacts. The results identified for each aspect of culture show much coherence - material elements/goods are the result of axiological and normative assumptions held of the institution. Conclusions. Tutoring occupies a significant place in the tested institution, both at the level of the assumptions and procedures, as well as daily practice. Success in tutoring depends on an individual’s involvement and awareness, with the procedures used having a smaller impact.

Jakościowy zwrot rozwoju polskich szkół – aspekt postulatywny

Author(s): Marcin Białas / Language(s): Polish Issue: 1/2018

The aim of the present work is to indicate the qualitative proposals for changes to be made in the contemporary Polish schools. They oppose the “biologistic” approach to students, insisting on the need to fill them with knowledge in the form of a premade “pill”. By emphasising the freedom of students to make their own choices and their readiness for self-realisation, it promotes the acquisition of knowledge in an active, creative, problem-oriented and friendly way, picturing students as sovereigns of own development.

Strategiczna samoregulacja w nauce języka drugiego/obcego. Część III. Wybór strategii przez ucznia a sukces w nauce

Author(s): Małgorzata Dąbrowska / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2018

Introduction. The main aim of this series of three articles is to explore the question of what it is that makes ‘good’ language learners, what individual factors can influence the learner’s success in foreign language learning, and what teachers and learners can learn from those who succeed in this complex task. In Part I., the author reviews a number of research studies on the ‘Good Language Learner’ issue; she also attempts to summarize the main characteristics, strategies, and behaviours of successful and unsuccessful learners. Part II. presents an overview of studies focused on the role of selected individual differences and shows how the variables may influence the process and outcomes of language learning; it also indicates which strategies and behaviours of ‘good’ learners can be taught and learnt in the classroom. In Part III., the author explores the issue further and presents the results of her empirical studies aimed at identifying the features and strategies of both successful students of English as a foreign language and learners with lower achievements. Material and methods. A number of formal structured pen-and-paper questionnaires, oral surveys and learner diaries were employed to diagnose the participants’ personality traits, learning preferences and patterns of strategy use. Results. The results of the research indicate that ‘good’ and less efficient learners tend to use strategies differently. Conclusions. The pedagogical implications for L2 teaching and learning discussed in the series are closely related to the ideas of strategies-based and styles-and-strategies-based instruction in language education, self-regulated or autonomous language learning, and continued lifelong learning.

The phenomenon of population decline has been in the centre of public attention for some time as this adverse tendency has been observed by demographers. The provinces with negative demographic prospects include Lubelskie province with Biała Podlaska district. Thus, it can be assumed that it is in the district’s best interests for the graduates of lower secondary schools to continue their education in the schools run by Biała Podlaska district. However, the question arises if all the graduates wish to continue their education in the schools located in the district. The analysis of the results of the research conducted in Biała Podlaska district in 2014 provides the answer to this question.

Kreativnost u nastavi Moje okoline

Author(s): Vanesa Delalić / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 8/2019

School should be a place where the creativity of students and teachers is encouraged and developed. In order to stimulate the creativity of students and teachers, schools must provide experiential learning and active learning. Thus, they cannot be governed by compulsion, fear and anti-pedagogy. Teaching should not undermine the student’s natural curiosity, but should allow and encourage students to think in a different way. The teacher should use active teaching methods and partner and research teaching; he should encourage discovering and questioning the natural environment, implement flexible programs, and ensure original learning and experimenting . Each subject can be planned in a creative way. The teacher is the one who needs to find a way that best suits the specifics and the interests and needs of a particular class. In addition to classroom teaching, there are important extracurricular activities in which the student is completely free and expresses his / her autonomy and desire to create. However, the best results are achieved through a harmonious combination of extracurricular and teaching activities. The task of the school is to develop a set of habits and abilities that will help its students to overcome any future challenge and find better solutions to problems. Students must learn to use the acquired knowledge and experience in a new way. Since its syllabus is a combination of different areas of teaching, ‘My environment’ classes provide exceptional possibilities to encourage students’ creativity. These classes should, therefore, focus on experiential learning that will make it easier for students to adopt content.
