Рад Америчке Мисије у Србији

Author(s): A. B. Mac Glade / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 06/1922

Aspekt relacji w konstruktywistycznej edukacji wczesnoszkolnej – analiza doświadczeń nauczycieli

Author(s): Anna Jarkiewicz,ELŻBIETA SZULEWICZ / Language(s): Polish Issue: 2/2023

This article presents the results of our own research. Qualitative analysis was made of interviews in which early childhood education teachers, who declare and use a constructivist approach in their work, talk about their experiences in introducing and working with this approach. The interviews were conducted in 2022 with five female teachers. The analysis of the empirical material concerned the identification of challenges, difficulties, and limitations in implementing the constructivist approach in early childhood education. The focus was on the resulting modifications in the relationship between the teacher and other parties, i.e. teacher–school, teacher–student, and teacher–parent. The research results indicate that a relatively simple relationship conversion occurs in the teacher–school interaction (the favourable attitude of the school management of course determines the simplicity of this modification). Much more difficult modifications concern teacher–student or teacher–parent interactions, which are conditioned by a number of elements, including the specific socio-cultural context and the attitudes to education and teachers ascribed by the participants within it.

Author(s): Jana Balogová,Ľuboš Lukáč / Language(s): Slovak Issue: 3/2023

The aim of the paper is to formulate the special educational needs of the gifted child in preschool education, which includes the creation and verification of a proposed set of twelve activities with the aim of saturating some of the special educational needs of gifted children in preschool education. The activities have been developed on the basis of knowledge and evidence from the field of giftedness, inclusion, personality and behavioural characteristics of the gifted preschool child. The activities are divided into four thematic units (divergent thinking activities, practical and technical activities, emotion-focused activities and storytelling activities) with three experiential activities in each unit. The proposed activities have been validated with agroup of nine preschool children in a private kindergarten in Košice, therefore, in the conclusion of the paper we formulate the identified recommendations for special education practice.

Projekt międzynarodowy „Digitally Improving Social and Emotional Skills of Primary School Teachers (DigiSEL)” dla nauczycieli edukacji wczesnoszkolnej

Author(s): Aleksandra Barwicka-Makula / Language(s): Polish Issue: 1 (56)/2023

The problems of the 21st century contributed to the creation of the project in cooperation with Italians, Spaniards, Turks, Croats and Poles. The Erasmus+ international project “Digitally Improving Social and Emotional Skills of Primary School Teachers (DigiSEL)” offers digital training and online teaching methods for primary school teachers in Europe with a focus on SEL. With a new generation of students growing up fast and learning differently from others, teachers need to digitally educate themselves to meet their needs and engage their attention in class and e-classes. The project was created to support teachers in building e-relationships using ICT. The author collected information about the project and pointed out practical solutions in social-emotional learning.

Rozwijanie zdolności samoregulacyjnych u dzieci w wieku wczesnoszkolnym – perspektywa kulturowo-historyczna. Etnograficzne studium przypadku

Rozwijanie zdolności samoregulacyjnych u dzieci w wieku wczesnoszkolnym – perspektywa kulturowo-historyczna. Etnograficzne studium przypadku

Author(s): Ewa Maria Filipiak / Language(s): Polish Issue: 2 (57)/2023

The aim of this article is to address the development of a child’s self-regulatory abilities and their significance in enhancing students’ academic achievements. In order to understand the genesis of an individual’s metacognitive processes, the article draws upon the cultural-historical theory of L.S. Vygotsky, wherein self-regulation is closely linked to the development of higher mental functions. Students’ self-regulatory abilities are nurtured through interactions with adults. Teachers, acting as “promoters of students’ self-regulation”, contribute to the emergence of personal planning procedures, control of the child’s own actions, shape learning experiences, and develop cognitive operations necessary for increasingly independent learning. Most researchers believe that school does not teach self-regulation. Self-regulation appears in formal school documentation and declarations, but few teachers make real attempts to deliberately develop it. The article presents an ethnographic case study and analyzes the socio-cultural context of an intentionally created learning environment conducive to the development of self-regulatory abilities in children in their first year of school education. The research encompasses two perspectives: the experiences of the teacher and the children.

Przeszukując e-pustynię: po-krytyczny namysł nad e-podręcznikami dla edukacji wczesnoszkolnej

Author(s): Lidia Bielinis / Language(s): Polish Issue: 2 (57)/2023

The title phrase “e-desert” is a metaphor that emphasizes the comparison of e-textbooks to a desert, i.e., a place which may initially seem difficult to access and unfriendly, but at the same time, which can be full of potentiality. E-textbooks, a relatively new teaching tool supporting early childhood education, symbolize a new educational space that may be unfamiliar and require an adaptation. The task set for this article is to analyze their potential from a post-critical perspective. The considerations will aim to identify the potential of e-textbooks for early school education posted on the zpe.gov.pl platform.

Wykorzystanie bajek terapeutycznych jako metody redukującej lęki u dzieci w wieku przedszkolnym

Wykorzystanie bajek terapeutycznych jako metody redukującej lęki u dzieci w wieku przedszkolnym

Author(s): Agnieszka Jaworska / Language(s): Polish Issue: 32/2023

Anxieties occur at every stage of a child's development, but in the preschool period they are most common. Children face many problems and weaknesses that they can't cope with on their own. Therapeutic fairy tales are a great method to help them overcome them in an effective way. Thanks to their therapeutic nature, they can also be used during pedagogical therapy classes. One of the forms used to work with children struggling with various fears is fairy tale therapy. Thanks to it, children gain knowledge about their fears, learn to name their own emotions and start talking about their own problems.

Analysis of the Early Childhood Education Curriculum from a Resilience Perspective

Analysis of the Early Childhood Education Curriculum from a Resilience Perspective

Author(s): Margarita Fernández-Romero,Francisco Pardo Fabregat / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2024

As resilience refers to the human capacity to overcome challenging situations and quickly recover from them, fostering it from an early age in an educational context will enable children to be more efficient at both the cognitive and emotional levels. Therefore, the main objec- tive of this study is to analyze the presence of resilience pillars in the current Spanish educational legislation, focusing on Early Childhood Education. In Spain, the new Education Law (LOMLOE) Organic Law 3/2020, amending Organic Law 2/2006, aims to enhance autonomy, initiative, and conflict resolution in children. In Royal Decree 95/2022 on Early Childhood Education, the three areas of knowledge (harmo- nious growth, discovery and exploration of the environment, and com- munication and representation of reality) are examined in relation to Steven J. Wolin and Sybil Wolin’s seven resilience pillars. In the second cycle of early childhood education, emphasis is placed on the develop- ment of specific competences for learning and doing, contributing to the comprehensive development of the child. Although the LOMLOE does not explicitly mention resilience, the curriculum reflects these resilience pil- lars—except for humor—highlighting the importance of understanding the individual characteristics and contexts of children. In summary, the promotion of resilience in early childhood education aligns with educa- tional regulations in Spain, contributing to the comprehensive develop- ment of children and preparing them for future challenges.

Ryszarda Kapuścińskiego (nie)obecność w polskiej szkole i dydaktyce akademickiej

Ryszarda Kapuścińskiego (nie)obecność w polskiej szkole i dydaktyce akademickiej

Author(s): Igor Borkowski / Language(s): Polish Issue: 21/2023

Imagined constructs of people, biographies and achievements are usually very stable. If they are located in a collective belief, they persist in it, and the attempt to rationalize them and indicate a place, level and size that is consistent with reality seems to be a difficult task, perhaps even impossible. My paper is an attempt to address the phenomenon of the (non)existence of Ryszard Kapuściński’s biography, work, and intellectual achievements in the system of Polish primary, secondary and higher education. The main question is whether and to what extent there is a chance for young journalists who have emerged from the context of the Polish educational system to encounter Ryszard Kapuściński’s thoughts, texts, and biographical data during any of their modules as part of their courses in journalism and social communication. The paper has been prepared on the basis of survey data collected at Polish universities offering courses in journalism and social communication as well as in related subjects.

Using A Blueprint for Character Development for Evolution (ABCDE) to Build Relationships Through Talk to Mobilise Attachment Theory to Develop Children’s Working Mental Models for Good Choices that Regulate Continued Good Lives

Author(s): Ferit Hysa,Alison Taysum / Language(s): English Issue: 21/2022

This study is a Ground Work Case in Albania which aims to reveal how adults talking with children can build relationships between the adult and the children to support the children’s appropriate development through the four phases of Bowlby’s attachment theory. If trauma is experienced which is not the fault of the child or the preferred caregiver, the child can become stuck and unable to develop the mental models required to become self-determining and live a good life with the conditions for homeostasis (continued life) with good faculty of judgement. This has implications for adults who may have experience trauma, through no fault of their own, who have not passed through the phases of attachment theory, and are expected to support children through the phases of attachment theory with no working mental model of what that looks like. A groundwork case was conducted in a city in Albania with kindergarten staff and revealed i) the curriculum of kindergarten staff ’s qualification did include attachment theory, ii) kindergarten staff were unaware of attachment theory. Findings reveal the Covid pandemic 19 has caused trauma that is preventing children from passing through the phases of attachment theory leading to poor working mental models and poor mental health. A Blueprint for Character Development for Evolution (ABCDE) is presented as an incremental model to enable staff, students and parents to evaluate progress through the phases of attachment theory and moving from fear to good faculty of judgement required for self-determining homeostasis.

Rozvíjanie komunikácie a jazykových kompetencií prostredníctvom literárnej výchovy a tvorivých aktivít

Author(s): Beáta Pošteková,Lukáš Švajlenin / Language(s): Slovak Issue: 1/2024

In order to concentrate on the topic of literary education, or creative activities, as an activity that develops language, reading, or communication abilities, we shall review research papers in this article. We will discuss the fundamental viewpoints of literary scholars and didacticians about literary texts and literary education as a subject of study; specifically, we will discuss their objectives for the enhancement of the abilities and proficiencies under investigation. Next, we'll examine the current status of the field by considering surveys designed to help people acquire the skills we're looking into. Our paper's goal is to ascertain if the research papers, when taken as a whole, at least partially corroborate the claim that working with literary texts fosters students' growth or motivation in communication.

Uloga komunikacije u igri djece predškolske dobi

Uloga komunikacije u igri djece predškolske dobi

Author(s): Mersiha Kolčaković,Katarina Lasić,Mirela Vasić-Hadžihalilović / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 14/2024

All we do with children has a form of communication, not just words, but also the timbre of the voice, facial expression and body language. The way we communicate with children sends messages of respect, empathy and care, but it can also send the opposite messages. By actively listening to children, encouraging them to talk about their feelings, and using positive, descriptive language, we let children know they can confide in us. In addition, the way we communicate with others has an impact on teaching children to solve problems, to be selfaware and to know how to listen to other people. Children’s play and communication are closely related. Some experts describe children’s play as a social activity that represents a form of communication. Play has always been an integral part of children’s life and creativity as well as the basis of children’s development, their physical, intellectual and socio-emotional abilities. A child develops in a play and acquires the first concepts about himself / herself and his / her environment. Although lifestyles changed at various stages of social development, the play has remained an integral part of children’s activities in new social conditions. The play is the primary activity of a preschool child. In the game, a child communicates, expresses his / her feelings and relationships with the environment, the game enables them to actively participate in a social life. In the game, a child develops motor skills and his / her nervous system, enriches his / her vocabulary, expands his / her knowledge about the life and work of people, socializes and learns proper behavior in life. That is the reason why we can say that play affects the allround development of a child’s personality and that preschool institutions should pay a great attention to it.

Iskustva odgojitelja i učitelja u prevenciji obrazovnih nejednakosti u hrvatskom ranom i predškolskom te osnovnoškolskom obrazovanju

Author(s): Dejana Bouillet,Sanja Brajković / Language(s): Croatian Issue: 3/2023

Educational inequalities are systemic barriers that result in unequal access to various levels of a quality education system, leading to divergent levels of success. These disparities are caused by background, social conditions and numerous other factors beyond the personal responsibility of individuals. Developing policies to ensure educational equality requires recognising that children’s difficulties stem from various features of the education system. These include system organisation and structure, types of schools, learning environment, ways of supporting children’s progress and of assessing their progress. This paper explores how educational professionals support children in disadvantaged situations to prevent educational inequalities. Within the ‘Lifelong Education for All’ Thematic Network project, a survey was conducted among a representative sample of educators and teachers in Croatia (n = 1,288). Participants completed an online questionnaire developed specifically for this research, addressing strategies to prevent educational inequality among preschool and primary-school children. The perceived experiences of educators and teachers in educating various groups of children in disadvantaged situations were analysed using descriptive indicators, the χ²-test and analysis of variance to assess differences between educators, classroom teachers and subject teachers. The research findings suggest that the causes of educational inequality differ across the three levels of education. In early childhood and preschool education, there is a striking deficit of support from other experts for both children and educators. In classroom teaching, there is a predominant focus on individual and personalised forms of support for children, while in subject teaching, reliance on support from professional staff is more pronounced.

Предучилищно образование чрез театрално-игрова дейност - теоретични и практически аспекти

Author(s): Viktoriya D. Kovchazova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2023

The contribution presents the meaning and the specific organizational structure of theater-play activity, which combines creativity, interaction and performance. Emphasis is placed on the possibilities of using play theater forms in kindergarten as a strategic advantage and presents their role in the formation of children's personality. Attention is directed to organizational variants of verbal-performing and theatrical activity in kindergarten, which aim to emphasize the educational, training and social role of theatrical-play activity. Theater-game activity is distinguished as an independent type of creative game activity based on its interaction with other types of games. In a pedagogical aspect, one of the most important functions of theater-play activity is educational, because theatrical art in itself, in interaction with play, educates.

ОЛИМПИЈСКИ ЗАБАВНИК

ОЛИМПИЈСКИ ЗАБАВНИК

Author(s): Sofija Stoiljković / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 2/2023

Daily practice shows that educators, teachers, and children find it interesting to jointly organize sports events and competitions that they call "small Olympics, athletic Olympics - in the world of competition and the like". For example, similar to this was the final event of preschoolers in the primary school "Mladost" from Belgrade in June 2023. It is interesting to emphasize that before the new era, the Olympiads represented a unit of measure of 4 years between two Olympic Games. The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be held in Paris in 2024. This paper is intended, primarily for those who are interested in the Olympic Games as the largest sports competition in the world, which is held every four years. In this paper, all members of one family can find something interesting, both the youngest and the oldest. The purpose of this paper is to acquaint readers of different ages with the origin of the Olympic Games, both ancient (Olympia before the new era) and these modern (renewed) ones that were created inspired by the ancient Olympic Games. This paper can serve as a good starting point, primarily for educators, but also for teachers, for planning project and teaching activities on the topic of the Olympic Games, sports competitions, mythology, winter and summer sports, Paralympic competitions, various symbols that are dominant before some planetary events in the near future such as the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024, as well as nations, continents and cities that at least briefly unite the idea of the Olympic Games.
