Социологические экспедиции кафедры местного самоуправления НИУ ВШЭ

Author(s): Simon Kordonsky,Juri Plusnin / Language(s): Russian Issue: 2/2015

The article’s authors describe their experiences organizing and conducting field research training of National Research University–Higher School of Economics students over the course of 10 years. Field expeditions are defined by the exposure they give (metropolitan) students to the phenomenology of provincial everyday life. The methodology used is grounded in the principals of qualitative social research. Methods used for the direct (“naive”) observation and description of the features of local public life include case studies, unstructured interviews, and situational conversations with local people. The authors describe five kinds of field expedition practices that they have developed for students: (1) visiting training seminars in addition to the authorized course; (2) field research incorporated into academic study practices; (3) retreats as part of research seminars; (4) summer school expeditions; and (5) sociological research expeditions.

Гендерное равенство в STEM-программах дошкольного образования как фактор успешного технологического развития России

Author(s): O. B. Savinskaya / Language(s): Russian Issue: 3/2016

The article discusses the importance of the implementation of educational programs for pre-school children to study the basics of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM-knowledge), as the scientific basis of development in today’s world of technological transition. Overview of the current situation in preschool education shows that STEM-knowledge gives preschoolers great potential for further development in primary and secondary schools. Studies also show that boys are more likely to acquire a better knowledge of mathematics and engineering sciences, which — to a certain extent — is determined by the teachers and pupils gender stereotypes concerning pre-school education. The article deals with the subject of STEM-knowledge for preschool children and the gender dimensions of its successful teaching. The two important parts of education policy should be implemented: development of pre-service activities or teacher training on gender analysis in STEM-programs and wider spreading of STEM-knowledge in the municipal kindergartens. Knowledge of gender differences should not lead to the development of gender dichotomy in education; on the contrary, it should lead to equal access of children to knowledge by developing motivation and positive attitudes of boys and girls to STEM-knowledge. The high importance of STEM-education is based on the fact that new information technologies and scientific approach encompass any professional activity and even everyday life of modern man.

GIVEN THE IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION AT THE SOCIETAL LEVEL, INCLUDING THE SECURITY PERSPECTIVE, THE COMPETENT NATIONAL AUTHORITIES, BUT ALSO THE ACTORS INVOLVED IN THE EDUCATION PROCESS, HAD TO ADOPT MEASURES TO ADAPT THE SUBSEQUENT ACTIVITIES OF THE EDUCATION PROCESS TO THE REALITIES OF THE NEW PANDEMIC. FOR THE MOST PART, AT LEAST UNTIL THE BEGINNING OF THE SCHOOL / UNIVERSITY YEAR 2021-2022, EDUCATION HAS BEEN TRANSLATED INTO VIRTUAL SPACE, AT ALMOST ALL LEVELS OF REPORTING. THE CONSEQUENCES OF THE NEW EXISTENTIAL REALITY WERE NOT THE MOST FAVORABLE, DUE TO AN ACCUMULATION OF FACTORS OF VARIOUS NATURE. THE OPINIONS OF SPECIALISTS IN EDUCATION SCIENCES, AS WELL AS OF MOST OPINION FORMERS OR THOSE DIRECTLY INVOLVED IN THE EDUCATIONAL ACT (TEACHERS / PUPILS / STUDENTS), HIGHLIGHT MAJOR SHORTCOMINGS IN TERMS OF ITS PURPOSE. THE DECLINE IN THE LEVEL OF EDUCATION OF YOUNG PEOPLE CAN ONLY BE WORRYING, THE EFFECTS HAVING AN IMPACT INCLUDING THE SECURITY OF THE COUNTRY, AS LONG AS EDUCATION IS A NATIONAL PRIORITY AND IS PERCEIVED AS A DIMENSION OF NATIONAL SECURITY.

Nepočujúci, posunkový jazyk a kultúra Nepočujúcich ako neoddeliteľná súčasť kultúry majority v európskom priestore

Author(s): Darina Tarcsiová / Language(s): Slovak Issue: 03/2024

Sign language is an integral part of the pedagogy of the hearing impaired, but other scientific disciplines are also devoted to it Deaf Studies, which has no tradition in our country. Its acceptance and use are implemented in international and national documents in the field of education, culture, and social affairs. Sign language also plays an important role in the identification of people with hearing impairment, and the current division into deaf people with capital N (Deaf) and deaf people with small n (deaf) is no longer satisfactory. The wider society’s awareness of bimodal bilingualism, the specifics of the Deaf community and culture, can contribute to positive changes in the perception of them, within the framework of social inclusion. The presented information is also part of the culture of the Slovak Republic, a wider awareness of the majority is needed.

„Je fascinujúce, že som učiteľka a mám poruchu“ – učiteľstvo s poruchami učenia

Author(s): Miroslava Lemešová / Language(s): Slovak Issue: 2/2024

The study focuses on the topic of teachers with learning disabilities, which, despite the presence of individuals with learning disabilities in undergraduate teacher training programmes and in the teaching profession, has not received sufficient attention in Slovakia. The study employs narrative interviews to delineate pivotal moments and factors that shape the professional trajectories of four teachers with learning disabilities, and to examine their perceptions of teaching in the contextof professional identity formation. Thematic analysis of the data collected identified four categories of meaning that appear to be key to understanding teaching with learning disabilities. These are the following key areas: understanding impairment as part of life, functioning with a learning disability during one’s own education, choosing a future profession, and practising teaching with a learning disability. A significant finding is that the majority of research participants in the teaching profession have shifted from concealing their diagnosis in an attempt to circumvent previous negative experiences with stigma to disclosing their diagnosis as a means of effecting change.

Rodinné rituály ve výchovné praxi jako prevence nefunkčnosti rodinného systému

Author(s): Pavel Kliment,Zdeňka Braumová / Language(s): Czech Issue: 2/2024

The present study examines the role of family rituals in functional families. A functional family is one that fulfils its basic functions, and it is within such a system that the optimal developmentof the child can be observed. The concept of the functional family has been defined on the basis of two dimensions: cohesion and adaptability. An additional criterion for our investigation was to ascertain whether the family in question employs effective management strategies in response to changes intheir environment. The objective of this paper is to examine the occurrence and various forms of family rituals, which serve to maintain and develop the cohesion of the family system and also support its adaptability. Our findings may prove useful in the eventual implementation of beneficial rituals infamilies that are perceived as dysfunctional, with the intention of improving the environment in which the development of children at risk takes place. To accomplish our goal, we employed a qualitative methodology, collecting data using semi-structured interviews.

DESIDERATA FOR THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF TEACHING STAFF

DESIDERATA FOR THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF TEACHING STAFF

Author(s): Silvia Golubițchi / Language(s): Romanian Issue: 40/2025

This presents a series of aspects that reflect professional development, which constitutes a continuous training process in a given field, based on the assimilation of a system of theoretical and practical knowledge. These orientations are, respectively, professional development through the learning process and professional development through research or reflection. The aspects of professional development of the teaching staff are presented: and the new trends in teacher training are described, highlighting the constructivist teacher, who also needs knowledge from different fields, but also cognitive capacities, applicative skills, along with specific attitudes and aptitudes. Professional development for teachers is more than training or courses, because it is precisely it that is an agent of change in classroom practice. For the development of a high-quality teacher and teaching force, it is important to have a high-quality professional development program for teachers.
