Author(s): Galina Fesun,Tetiana Kanivets / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2018

At the present stage of the development of society the problem of the syndrome of emotional burnout of teachers is particularly relevant, since the stress is manifested especially in pedagogical activities, due to its saturation with such stressors as: responsibility for the development of the younger generation, active interpersonal interaction, increased emotional tension, inadequate social assessment, etc. One of the worst consequences of longterm professional stress is the “burnout” syndrome. This raises the need to consider hidden mechanisms of professional activity that can lead to the fact that professionals cease to cope with their responsibilities, lose their creative mood over the subject and product of their work.

Детските рисунки като документ на епохата

Author(s): Mariana Garmidolova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2019

The children’s art occupies an important place in the cultural space. Each child’s drawing reflects the culture of an epoch and therefore it can be investigated as a special document. Historical events, rituals, traditions, habits, clothing – everything is demonstrated in the children’s artwork. The children’s art language has specific features. It is generalized, spontaneous, expressive and schematic. All these characteristics give us reason to talk about children’s visual meta-language. In order to interpret children’s drawings correctly, we must know the principles of the meta-language. Each child’s drawing is a source of information about the tangible and spiritual culture of an epoch. Very often the children’s drawings possess some of the qualities of the works of art, created by mature artists. However, children’s art has its own principles, specific qualities and methods of creativity and therefore it is given a sovereign place in the world of fine arts.

Формиране на правоговорна компетентност у първокласници роми – състояние на проблема (анализ на анкета с учители)

Author(s): Hristina Gergova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2021

Language competence, based on the alphabet and writing of the community one belongs to, is the “key“ to the personal and social growth of a child. Mastering reading and writing is a complex process for all students but it is most difficult for first-graders, learning the official Bulgarian language as a second language, particularly Roma children. It is assumed that a satisfactory formed orthoepic competence (Beginners’level) during the literacy development process is the fundamental tool for successful “entry“ into the Bulgarian alphabet and writing. Within the outlined theoretical context, an analysis of a survey among primary teachers has been made, aiming to highlight the importance of the problem and to make well-founded recommendations for improving the educational process in the particular pedagogical and linguistic situations.

Language Policy Implementation in Latvian Pre-school: Latvian Language Skills of Minority Children

Language Policy Implementation in Latvian Pre-school: Latvian Language Skills of Minority Children

Author(s): Dace Markus,Tija Zīriņa,Kārlis Markus / Language(s): English Issue: 22/2023

Latvian is the only official language in Latvia and one of the symbols of an independent state. The article provides a brief insight into the history of its reinforcement, which has not been easy. Education is one of the areas in which it is very important to develop multilingualism, while not forgetting to strengthen state language skills and their application. As the education system continues to reveal shortcomings in the process of Latvian language acquisition, Cabinet Regulations adopted in 2018 “Regulations Regarding the State Guidelines for Pre-school Education and the Model Pre-school Education Programmes” update the need for a successful transition from pre-school education to primary education at school, from preschool education to bilingual primary school education or education carried out in Latvian. In minority families with a dominant Russian language, children acquire Russian well before preschool age, and it is time to start learning the state language at pre-school age if this has not already been done. Taking these requirements into account, the article analyses the Latvian language skills of children of pre-school age, using 375 child speech recordings made by researchers in 2019 and 2020 in three regions – Kurzeme (Western Latvia), Latgale (Eastern Latvia), and Riga (capital). The materials are divided into three groups in each of the territories: recordings of Latvian children, recordings of minority children in groups with the Latvian language on a daily basis, and recordings of minority children in groups with the Russian language on a daily basis. The main problem is that regardless of the region, the Latvian language skills of minority children who attend pre-school education groups with a dominant Russian language on a daily basis are still insufficient and do not comply with the requirements set in Cabinet Regulation No. 716 of 2018 that the children should be prepared to start school with the Latvian as the learning language or bilingually. This suggests that the legislative provisions are not fully implemented and improvements are necessary for the Latvian language training system for minority children.

21st century skills aim at creating, acquiring, validating and using knowledge as well as making it usable for all as part of a collective social effort. Since teachers have vital roles in the development and maintenance of both the educational and academic aspects of students, they must first have basic competencies in the context of 21st century skills. Therefore, today, teachers need to be able to adequately address learners within the scope of 21st century skills and teachers need to have the competence, development and skills of the age. The aim of the study prepared in this context is to determine the Self-Efficacy Perceptions of Teachers Regarding 21st Century Skills. As a result of the research carried out with the participation of 339 teachers working in public schools in the spring term of 2022-2023, there was no difference between the education levels of the teachers, one of the demographic factors, in the 21st century skills self-efficacy of the participating teachers, and it was statistically significant in terms of the time spent by the teachers in terms of the learning and renewal skills sub-dimension in terms of time spent in the profession. It was seen that the difference between them was statistically significant in terms of age variable in terms of information, media and technology skills according to age variable. According to these determinations, it can be stated that teachers' gains should be increased through processes such as continuous education, in-service training and applied training in order to ensure and maintain their self-efficacy within the scope of 21st century skills.

THE NECESSITY OF SCHOOL RECONSTRUCTION. FROM INSTRUCTION TO EDUCATION

THE NECESSITY OF SCHOOL RECONSTRUCTION. FROM INSTRUCTION TO EDUCATION

Author(s): Marin Manolescu / Language(s): Romanian Issue: 21/2020

The public opinion is impregnated by the idea according to which life is not possible in the absence of school. Such an opinion has become, according to the statement of Ivan Ilich, the greatest religion of humankind. Within out current society, school is the object of increasing pressures from all sides; in these conditions, it becomes vulnerable. The current school reality especially highlights, on the one hand, an elitism based on selection, promoted ever since Durkheim’s ideas, who implicitly recognised the social inequalities reflected in education, and on the other, the generalization of education is strongly promoted, which led to the progressive access to school education to all children. The dynamic of social life, that of the institutions performing an informal education, together with the explosive evolution of digital technologies generate new educational sources and fields, which profoundly mark the training of new generations of children and youth. One rightly asks himself: How do we define nowadays a “good school”? Which are the criteria according to which we attribute it this characteristic or quality? Is the traditional school capable of being reformed to such an extent as to address the challenges of our days? Which position must the school adopt: should it remain the former “sanctuary”, or should it become more open and fundamentally change its functions. Truth to be told, the answer lies in the middle. The society in which we live nowadays promotes both democracy and liberalism. Democracy and competition! The transition from a selective school to a mass democratic school at the level of primary and secondary studies is a sinuous process which will continue for a long time from now on, given the evolution of evaluative ideas and practices, stimulated / generated by spectacular social, economic, political, cultural, philosophical and scientific evolutions etc.

FAMILY - FRAMEWORK FOR SATISFYING THE CHILD'S NEEDS

FAMILY - FRAMEWORK FOR SATISFYING THE CHILD'S NEEDS

Author(s): Rodica Bolojan (Ștef) / Language(s): Romanian Issue: 21/2020

Preschoolers and their families! haven't I known them from my teaching activity for 30 years? that's right, I know them well! From a didactic, managerial, human, subjective relational perspective. The family ? yes, and the family knows it, I have it, I have neighbors, friends, I have opinions, obviously subjective. How could this personal and professional knowledge be integrated into a scientific approach and what would it be like to be raised to another level of knowledge? Identify new approach strategies ?, new research methods and techniques that allow me to better understand it ?, solutions to solve the problems faced by early education, many families? The answer to these and other questions is at stake in my doctoral dissertation on "Parent Satisfaction with Educational Services in Preschool Education." The sociological perspective - a way of looking, studying and explaining social life. An analysis of society from a certain point of view. This study will allow me to make a contribution to solving major social problems: education. Having a sociological perspective also involves opening up to other socio-human sciences, such as psychology-social. General psychology is the central science of man as an individual, social psychology deals with the way personality and behavior are influenced by social context, it is the science of psychological relationships between people. To have a sociological perspective, says Maria-Ana Georgescu, means to understand "how" and "why" social processes occur, it means to accept cultural differentiations, it means to play a practical role in optimizing social life. " (Gerogescu, 2005). This research will be a challenge for me to detach myself from the familiar professional (teacher) and personal experience, to overcome the particular aspects studied from a pedagogical perspective to a scientific sociological perspective. The removal of prejudices is closely linked to the problem of objectivity in sociology. Each individual has developed a life experience starting from knowledge at the level of common sense. Sociology can confirm or disprove knowledge in common sense, unsystematic. The scientific perspective, says Maria-Ana Georgescu, begins only when we become aware that most of our peers make impermissible generalizations, when we are able to control our own impressions and strive not to affect our research work.

Образованието като ценност в обществото на преход

Образованието като ценност в обществото на преход

Author(s): Daniela Kovacheva / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 4/2013

In our country, education is no longer a value, but rather something mandatory, the responsibility for which is being transferred between parents, teachers and the government. The victims are the youth of the nation. The main goal of this study is to determine the importance of education for our children. Jacob Bronowski once wrote: “Science is based on human values, but is also a value by itself.” Are we going to take this great value away from the generations of tomorrow? In order to preserve education as a value, we have to demonstrate with our behavior that it is a part of our values. If this happens, the teacher by himself/herself would be a value, respected by the students and the whole society.

Author(s): Nurcihan İplikçi,Nazan Tunay,Sezen Tunay Aras,Eren Arar,Şaban Beşiktepe / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 30/2023

In this study, in which it is aimed to evaluate the research findings of the processes affecting the insicam of the administrative order and mechanisms of educational institutions in the context of various variables, an approach to the subject will be shown from the point of view of students and teachers, which are the sine qua non of educational institutions. It is imperative that every individual in society learns the behaviors necessary to fulfill the behaviors of being a social being. In line with this purpose, it is possible for schools to provide people with the necessary behavioral forms by ensuring a certain order within the school boundaries. Every step within the school boundaries should be designed to protect the presence of students and teachers by considering their well-being. Because the only asset that is the main reason for the existence of schools is the direct existence of students. The management and functioning of the school is an important factor that determines positive learning environments within the school boundaries. In this case, the first way to achieve the desired behaviors in schools is to design and implement the relevant educational and training environment as a positive learning environment. The research was conducted by taking the opinions of three elementary, three middle and three secondary school principals working in different districts of Istanbul on disciplinary problems arising from teachers and students in schools and evaluating their ideas at the solution point. The universe of the research is limited to three managers working at different levels in different districts of Istanbul. Eight themes were created in the research. Themes created discipline problems for teachers and students separately; the causes of disciplinary problems were expressed as the solutions of disciplinary problems and the difficulties in solving disciplinary problems. Discipline problems caused by teachers are expressed as insufficient teachers' qualifications, communication problems with teachers and students; insufficient classroom management, late entry to class; psychological and physical violence applied to the student, indifference to the student. The causes of teachers' problems, which are a source of disciplinary problems within the school, are a very important issue. The categories related to the causes of disciplinary problems were expressed as lack of experience, cooling off from the profession, irresponsibility and social life responsibilities of the teacher, inability to manage the classroom, inability to master the field, avoidance of responsibility. It facilitates healthy communication between teachers and both students and parents in positive or negative events related to the school, discipline and order in the classroom. It is important for parents to learn what is happening inside the school and not to delay the intervention in order for the child to suffer the consequences of his behavior. According to the research findings, the student-related disciplinary problems encountered in elementary, middle and secondary schools were grouped under four categories as family, economic, environmental factors and friend relations. Disciplinary problems caused by teachers, on the other hand, were found to have characteristic features, environmental and economic problems. As solution suggestions, it was seen that suggestions such as determining the needs, providing support education, making the necessary arrangements within the school were developed. When the difficulties encountered in the implementation of solution proposals were examined, it was concluded that the opportunities that schools provide to solution providers, the responsibilities that cannot be fulfilled, the burnout experienced by teachers in this process, and the lack of vision experienced within the school cause difficulties in solving the process.
