Neki indikatori (ne)uspešnog čitanja

Author(s): Jasmina Vuksanović,Aleksandra Jovanović,Irena Avramović-Ilić,Boban Petrović / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 3/2008

In the paper we set the aim to determine whether phonological awareness and short-term verbal memory are indicators of a subsequent reading acquisition. The sample consisted of 194 first graders from two primary schools in Belgrade. The results of our research showed that the most significant indicator of the subsequent (un)successful reading was phonological awareness. The short-term verbal memory is, to a lesser extent, an indicator of the subsequent reading acquisition defined by the time needed for reading the text and by the text comprehension. Our findings offer basis for proposing that the phonological awareness assessment should be implemented into the regular procedure of assessing child’s readiness for school. In this way children in need for preventive stimulation within the inclusive programme in primary schools could be identified.

Kognitivna obrada alomorfije u srpskom jeziku

Author(s): Tamara Jovanović,Dušica Filipović-Đurđević,Petar Milin / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 1/2008

In this work, we explored cognitive status of suffix allomorphy of the masculine nouns in instrumental singular in Serbian language (eg. mišom-mišem; pužom-pužem). Allomorphy represents distinct variations in form of the morpheme which does not influence it’s function and meaning (cf. Lyons, 1968). Despite it’s frequent appearance in speech and language production, it has rarely been a subject of psycholinguistic explorations. First goal of this research was to determine whether the cognitive processing of allomorphic nouns has it’s specificities and second goal was to create the base for making and testing hypothesis regarding morphological and/or phonological factors that influence suffix alternation in forming of instrumental singular of masculine nouns. We conducted visual lexical decision experiment and applied a questionnaire created for the needs of investigating allomorphy in language production. Results showed that at least two processes influence cognitive processing of masculine nouns in instrumental singular: (a) certain morpho-phonological restrictions that influence appearance of the suffix –em, and (b) allomorphy - variations in suffix in instrumental singular. In addition, the findings indicate that allomorphy could be the consequence of the tendency to use more frequent suffix (-om), that eases the processing, and blocks the influence of the morpho-phonological restrictions.

İRAN (AZERBAYCAN) AĞIZLARINDA BELİRTME DURUM EKLERİ

Author(s): Meltem Gül / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 08/2013

Iran is a very important region in terms of Turkish language and culture. Today, there are some areas where the Ottoman and Azeri Turkish, which are branches of western Turkish, are spoken in Iran region. There are pronunciation and phonetic differences among them and Turkey-Turkish. The morphological differences are negligible. Studies in Turkey on determination of these differences are insufficient at the moment. A few master and doctoral theses have been written on Azerbaijan dialects in Turkey. Old Oghuz sound and shape properties live in Iran dialects. Therefore, the different grammatical structures appear in spoken languages in a remarkable way. In Turkey Turkish designator suffix is created by using + I for vowels and using + sI for constants. In Iran's Azerbaijan dialects the different uses of this suffix is seen. In this study, the accusative case suffixes created by + I, + n, + nI in Iran’s Hamedan and Salmas regions presented. In addition, this study also put forward similar and differing aspects of the accusative case suffixes with Turkey Turkish. Therefore, firstly the accusative case suffixes in Azerbaijan dialects were examined and exemplified. Similar uses and the different uses were specified and exemplified. Studies on Azerbaijan dialects in Iran will be a very important step for the studies on Oghuz. Studies in this field will contribute Turkish Language. This study will contribute the studies on the Comparative Turkish Grammar and will provide important contributions to the lexicon of Turkish tribes’ dialects.

Kognitivna obrada prideva

Author(s): Dušica Filipović-Đurđević,Aleksandar Kostić / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 3/2003

Processing of inflected Serbian verbs was investigated in two lexical decision experiments. Specifically, the following issues were addressed: a. does the adjectival system contain syntactic functions and meanings, and b. are adjectival gender and case cognitively relevant properties. Each of the above issues could be expressed in terms of alternative equations that generate the amount of information carried by inflected form of an adjective. The informational values were correlated with mean reaction time to inflected adjectival forms. The outcome of the two experiments indicated that number of syntactic functions/meanings is the obligatory term in the equation that generates the amount of information carried by an adjectival inflected form. However, unlike nouns, where the amount information was specified in terms of ratio between a. sum of frequencies of inflected cases encompassed by a given inflected form and b. sum of its functions/ meanings, equation for adjectives includes sum of frequency by number of syntactic functions/meanings ratios for cases encompassed by a given inflected adjectival form. This, on the other hand, suggests that cognitive system when processing inflected adjectives is to some extent sensitive to adjectival case. It was also demonstrated that cognitive system is not sensitive to adjective gender.

Analiza grešaka u pisanom izražavanju - Negramatične rečenice u komunikaciji u jeziku L2 (studija slučaja)

Author(s): Bernes Aljukić / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 8/2011

This case study analyzes written assignments by a student A. H., twenty one year-old Jordanian who was one of the nineteen students of Bosnian language course for foreigners. Considering that the written language shows specificities in relation to the use of spoken language, the most successful student has been chosen for detailed analyses of errors he made in graphics, phonetics, morphosyntax and semantics. The results are used as guidelines for future teachers and students of this or similar course. The three topics he wrote about supposed to show in what way Ahmad uses sentences in L2 language with the reference that Ahmad’s language ability is quite enough to express thoughts and feelings even in the “damaged” sentences, which leads us to Kauffman’s (2003) principle “focus of meaning” as a remarkably useful guideline for more complete and more substantial language learning. The study is split in two parts- theoretical (includes specificities of processing while learning second language and pointing the differences between communication ability and traditional teaching of second language) and the second part analyses Ahmad’s work in detail with the results and conclusion.

Organsko i tradirano u gramatičkoj normi jezika Razgovora ugodnoga naroda slovinskoga Andrije Kačića Miošića

Author(s): Iva Lukežić / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 2/2005

This paper presents the phonological and morphonological features of the local dialect of Paladini in Istria. This local speech belongs to the Buzet or Upper Mirna Valley Chakavian dialect and has not been studied so far. In this study we established which of its phonological features are general characteristics of the Chakavian dialect, and which are the properties of the Buzet dialect. Our study has also shown that the consonantism of this local speech is of the Chakavian type, as is the case with other idioms belonging to this dialect. As for its accentuation, we have found that the tonal and quantity oppositions have been lost.

The lexical units related to various professions and their integration into the dialects of the Turkic languages were first included in this article. The dialect system of the Turkish language has a unique place in the lexical units related to different art and profession, and we have to consider some of them considering the scope of this article. Usually, such dialect, poetry, mouth-words are quite common in the dialects of Turkic languages. The article focuses on comparisons, comparisons, and some of them have appeared in the dialectal domains. The dialect words related to various professions also played a special role in enriching the lexicalsemantic potential of Turkic languages, and the words from this tribe could not have been a subject of special research. Because of the development of the society, there is a great need for lexical units of this tribal tribe to study in monographical aspect.

O KULTURNOJ HISTORIJI SUDIJEVIH KOMENTARA SADIJEVA ƉULISTANA I BUSTANA

Author(s): Dragica Živkova / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 39/2018

Comprehensive information on the literary work of Ahmed Sudi, who lived in the 16th century, is contained in a monograph by Namir Karahalilović and Munir Drkić, published by the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo. It is a publication which portrays the life’s work of Sudi as a commentator, presenting also the masterpieces of Persian classical literature exploited in the broad geographical territory of the Ottoman Empire, later spreading to the wider, global level. Especially inspiring are his comments on Saadi’s works Gulistan and Bustan and Divan of Hafiz, the most significant and highly outstanding works with exclusive, meaningful messages, the analysis of which comprised multiple literary segments such as writing and pronunciation, phonetics, morphology, stylistics and metrics, semantics and cultural-historical aspect. This study is based on a cultural and historical point of view since the commentaries on Gulistan and Bustan mention significant Persian and other historically influential figures and rulers (King Darius, Alexander of Macedonia, etc.), legendary-mythological figures, epic heroes, Islamic Sufi prominent personalities, poets, and the like. Comments taken from the history of Islam are extremely valuable and well substantiated. For example, the beginning of Bustan highlights the fact that it is advisable to begin every work in the name of God and to seek his help in it, also including biographical data on Muhammed the Messenger. It is interesting that his comments include extensive explanations of personalities, cities and countries, personal memories and the impressions from travels, proving that he was versed in different scientific disciplines and in various spheres of one’s everyday activities.

Zapažanja o romskim glasovima

Zapažanja o romskim glasovima

Author(s): Rade Uhlik / Language(s): Croatian Issue: 19/1981

Nova vremena i novi pravopisi (različita izdanja romana Nova vremena u kontekstu revizije pravopisa iz 1912. godine)

Author(s): Vedad Mulavdić / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 29/2018

The paper examines the application of the orthographic norm in two different edition of Edhem Mulabdic’s novel Nova vremena. The editions were published in the interval of 13 years, first in the magazine and then as a separate release. It was found by the analysis that the text of the novel published in magazine is generally more editable and follows valid norm prescribed in Frano Vuletic’s Bosnian Language Grammar from year 1890, while the text of the book is quite less editable showing the inconsistency towards the valid norm from the Revision of the Serbo-Croatian Language Orthography from year 1912. Social context in which Austrian-Hungarian Government has imposed some orthographic solutions as well as the way of its practical application has been emphasized. General tendency of the acceptance of phonetic orthographical principle has been noted in editions. Certain inconsistencies are also noted in some orthographic characteristics and everywhere in the text it can be clearly seen that the process of the orthographic norm stabilization lasts. The question of the change of language name was also pointed out in the paper, which indicates to the dynamic character of the language politics and language standardization during the Austrian-Hungarian administration in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Transmutacija srednjovjekovnog jezika u Kamenom spavaču

Author(s): Muhamed Šator / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 1-2/2004

This paper concerns the particularities of M. Dizdar's poetic language, with a special regard to the poet's usage of words from the medieval Bosnian language. M. Dizdar did not consider the old Bosnian language to be dead, but unjustly forgotten. Transmutation of the old Bosnian language was done without national mythology in his poetry, without pathetic and glorification of the past. In his poetic language experiments M. Dizdar relied on the European tradition too, but in many of his language procedures he was completely original.
