“Turci” i “kmetovi” – mit o vlasnicima bosanske zemlje

Author(s): Husnija Kamberović / Language(s): Bosnian Publication Year: 0

Dr. Ante Starčević: u povodu 110. obljetnice smrti (1823. – 1896.)

Author(s): Marijan Diklić / Language(s): Croatian Publication Year: 0

On the 110th anniversary of death of Dr Ante Starčević, a great figure of Croatian statehood and “Father of the Fatherland”, the author gives a brief overview concerning his life, education and political activities of this distinguished Croat. Starčević created Croatian radical national integration ideology and founded Party of Right. He was the most important member of that party and throughout his life he used all his intellectual and other capabilities in the struggle for united, free, sovereign and independent Croatia. This struggle was directed primarily against Austria and Hungary, but also against all other who wanted to rule over Croatia. Starčević based his political activities mostly on the historical Croatian right to achieve their state, but he also accepted the natural right of all nations to achieve self-determination and to create their own national state. For Starčević an independent national state, in this case a Croatian one, was a basis for the development of spirit of a nation. Through its independent state a nation achieves its creative spirit and its and its creative strength and capabilities.

Hrvatski klub i nastanak Stranke prava u Dalmaciji

Author(s): Marina Diklić / Language(s): Croatian Publication Year: 0

Dissatisfaction with the politics of the National Party in Dalmatia, which played an important part in the national awakening in Dalmatia, appeared at the end of the 1870s, and culminated at the end of the 1880s and beginning of the 1890s. At the head of the politically disaffected, those who tended to be especially oriented toward Croatian nationalism and Rightist ideas, was first and foremost Don Mihovil Pavlinović, and after his death in 1887, Don Juraj Biankini. At the end of the 1880s and the beginning of the 1890s, several conflicts broke out among the members of the National Party which led to a change in its name to the National Croatian Party in 1889 and even to a split in the party in 1892. Disappointed by a lack of success in economic and political affairs a group of National Party representatives led by Biankini decided to break from the Representative Club of the old National Croatian Party and form their own club, the Croat Club. At the beginning of the 1890s a process began in Dalmatia whereby all the Rightists and the Rightist oriented groups began to unify into a united Party of Right. The main instigators of the process were Don Ivo Prodan, who led the religious- Rightist grouping, and Dr. Ante Trumbić and Frano Supilo, who led the liberal Rightist grouping. They would soon be joined by Biankini’s Croat club, which took upon itself the task of key organizer, leading ultimately to the unification of all three Dalmatian Rightist groupings and the formation of a Party of Right in Zadar in 1894. The President of the Croat Club, J. Kazimir Ljubić, became the first president of the newly established Dalmatian Party of Right.

Između starog i modernog pravaštva

Author(s): Stjepan Matković / Language(s): Croatian Publication Year: 0

This paper examines the changes which took place in the Party of Right’s approach at the end of the 19th century. The appearance of new leaders in the party (J. Frank and his collaborators) and the gradual departure of the older generation, above all A. Starčević, brought about certain changes in the tactics of the Rightists. The Party of Right’s change in direction was influenced by forces outside of the party: the constitutional system created by the Croat-Hungarian Agreement of 1868, the crisis of Dualism, the situation in the Croatian opposition, and the change in foreign policy direction. The term ‘modern Rightism’ was first coined by opponents of the Party of Right, who wanted to belabour the new Rightists with blame for divesting themselves of authentic Starčevićism. Modern Rightism certainly transformed its approach, but not in a negative sense. Its proponents accepted modernization in the political field, and tailored their political tactics to developments in Austria-Hungary. Political modernization meant setting up an organized party structure and accepting the challenges posed by the democratization of the political system. This set in motion a reciprocal process, because while democratization created the possibility for mass parties, the creation of such a party also necessitated good organization (administration, programme, statutory documents, membership, regular financial support, promotion, a network of associations, etc.). Nevertheless, adherents of modern Rightism remained faithful to the traditions of Rightist ideology established on the basis of furthering Croatian State Right and Croatian national identity. Modern Rightists (mostly followers of J. Frank, or Frankists), supported the solution of the Croatian national question within the Habsburg Monarchy, because they estimated that within its framework they could realize specific political aims and enable the economic development of Croatia.

Bolonjska reforma obrazovanja kao dvostruko „porobljavanje“ znanja

Author(s): Ivan Bubalo / Language(s): Croatian Publication Year: 0

Guča Gora i graditeljski val u Bosni Srebrenoj pod konac osmanske vlasti

Author(s): Fra Marko Karamatić / Language(s): Croatian Publication Year: 0

From the beginning of the conquest of Bosnia in 1463, the number of sacral buildings had been continuously decreasing. The Ottoman authorities didn’t allow new ones to be built. The most sacral buildings were destroyed at the end of 17th century during the Austrian-Turkish war. So it happened that in beginning of 19th century only five churches and three of numerous middle age monasteries remained in Bosnia Argentina. Worship was performed in the open. In the forties of the 19th century reforms attempting to accommodate Ottoman Empire to West-European standards in politics, economy and equality of citizens were initiated. The Sultan’s decree of 1839 permitted the increase of freedoms to the Christians, and the decree of 1856 made Christians equal to the Muslims. The result was that it was easier to get licenses to build churches, bringing about the real building wave in Bosnia Argentina: monasteries in Livno, Plehan, Tolisa, among others the monumental one in Guča Gora, monastery churches in Sarajevo, Kreševo, Sutjeska, Jajce, Petrićevac,, and parish churches in Vidoši, Ovčarevo, Dolac, Vareš, Dubica…

Author(s): Chelsea McManus,Celeste Michaud / Language(s): English Publication Year: 0

The previous Route has shown that the relationship between post-truth, populism, and fake news is often described in overly simplistic terms. Simply proclaiming that we are now living in an era of fake news and post-truth politics does not actually help us to understand these phenomena. This Route will trace the development of these concepts, tease out what is unique about the way they are currently being used, and identify what is at stake in the different definitions.

OD SVETLOSTI RATA KA ROĐENJU ISTORIJE

Author(s): Michel Foucault / Language(s): Serbian Publication Year: 0

Author(s): Michael Howard / Language(s): Serbian Publication Year: 0

Author(s): Van Verrocchio / Language(s): Italian Publication Year: 0

The Adriatic Sea has been for centuries a crossroads where different from each communities to ethnic, cultural and religious orientation have found an opportunity to meet, creating a dense set of relationships and cultural connections. The study of the evolution of dietary practices and convivial habits is an interesting observatory to deepen the knowledge on the interactions between these communities over the time. In this perspective the role of ceramics, as material well directly related to the consumption of food, acquires great significance beyond the mere value of commercial traffic indicator.Specifically the function of maiolica, pottery mainly linked to the tables, lends itself to shed light on the dietary practices and convivial table habits, where the socio-cultural identities are subject to numerous forms of contamination. The study of the diffusion of Italian maiolica on the east Adriatic coast is therefore a way to enhance our understanding of cultural influences between East and West in the early centuries of the Modern Age.This paper analyzes the phenomenon of the spread of Italian maiolica and in particular of that produced in Castelli (Teramo, Abruzzo) in the Eastern Adriatic in the Early Modern Age (c. 1550—1700). The recent interest of scholars on the circulation of post-medieval ceramics in the Eastern Mediterranean has highlighted new archaeological contexts that also returned maiolica from Castelli. The analysis of the state of knowledge firstly allows us to outline the contours of the phenomenon and then draw future research developments.

Ottoman Glazed Pottery Standardisation: The Belgrade Fortress Evidence for Production Trends

Author(s): Vesna Bikić / Language(s): English Publication Year: 0

Glazed pottery from the Belgrade Fortress, already evaluated contextually and typologically, allow us to address some important issues of pottery production and craft specialisation in the Ottoman period (16th—17th centuries). In order to determine the degree of pottery standardisation, this article will analyse the main production parameters, such as shape, size/volume and production technology. The production organisation and craft skills in all aspects of pottery making are examined as well.

Author(s): Véronique François / Language(s): French Publication Year: 0

Archaeological excavations conducted by German and French teams in the citadels of Damascus and Aleppo in the early 2000s, occasional discoveries in the Middle East, Istanbul and Cyprus as well as the publication of ancient excavations highlighted a specific group of painted tableware made in a siliceous fabric. This Ottoman pottery has obvious stylistic similarities with the famous pieces manufactured in the Iznik workshops in the 16th and 17th centuries. This article is dedicated to the so-called Syrian Polychrome Ware probably manufactured in Damascus on a date that is difficult to specify. We will show how this Syrian Ottoman production was similar to the Iznik wares and how it differed. We will try to define the date of manufacture — probably in the late 16th and 17th centuries — and identify the potters. Were they itinerant craftsmen who knew how to make Iznik pottery and, changing their place of residence, were making similar bowls from different raw materials? Were they potters from Damascus, the descendants of the Mamluk craftsmen? In that case, did they have at their disposal the original? The status of these objects is also raised. They were not slavish imitations but Iznik derivatives — the copy was partial, incomplete and of uneven quality. The objective of the potters was not to copy to mislead the consumers but rather to take inspiration from the models to please. The study of archaeological finds and pottery preserved in European museums allows dealing with these issues.

Author(s): Svetlana A. Belyaeva,Elena E. Fialko / Language(s): Russian Publication Year: 0

The article deals with painted faience produced in the Turkish centre of artistic ceramics in İznik and dated by the end of 15th — 16th centuries. This collection comes from the excavations of 1999—2010 in the Lower Yard of Akkerman fortress in Belgorod-Dniestrovsk, Odessa Oblast, Ukraine. Statistical characteristic of the distribution of finds on architectural objects, as well as typological and chronological classification of materials, has been represented. The authors offer a comparative analysis by functional structure and main periods of development revealed in the Iznik artistic ceramics from Akkerman with collections from a number of the Ottoman provinces’ sites. They also propose a historical interpretation of possible ways how Iznik pottery could appear in Akkerman.

The necessity of broader attraction of archaeological materials is indicated. The specificity of urban settlements location, their fortification systems and internal planigraphy is characterized. Special attention is paid to the collections from the excavations of these sites, the imported items, and the osteological materials. On the basis of the research conducted, a conclusion is made as to the commercial and political importance of the cities as provisional headquarters of the Turkic Tatar rulers.
