“Izvestiya” journal is an academic scientific journal of the University of Economics – Varna which applies the principle of double-blind review of received papers. The journal has been published since 1957 and it keeps the traditions of the university periodicals issued since 1928. The online version of the journal started in 2012. The journal is a forum for presenting various scientific theories, studies and positions; it encourages pluralism in science and is open for discussion.
The journal accepts manuscripts and approves for publishing articles in the field of: business, management and accounting; economics, econometrics and finance; computer science; mathematics; social sciences.
The journal is published in quarterly booklets, in Bulgarian and English, both in print and online.
“Izvestiya” journal follows the codes of ethical behavior and protection of author’s rights. With the act of sending his article, as well as with the act of expressing the wish or agreement for publishing sent to the editorial office of “Izvestiya”, the bearer of author’s right or similar rights agrees to give for free the right for using electronically the works which are approved by the editorial board.
“Izvestiya” is a scientific journal with “open access” both for the academic staff of the university and for authors outside it whose materials correspond to the thematic priorities of the journal. “Izvestiya” journal accepts the Budapest Open Access Initiative and is part of DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals).

Varna University of Economics Annual Book publishes scientific studies authored by members of the academic staff since 1927. It has been published under various names reflecting the changes of the Institution’s   name through its 90 years of publication history. The Annual Book is a forum for presenting various fundamental, theoretical, methodological and applied research. It encourages pluralism in the economic science and is open for collaborations. The academic publication welcomes studies in the fields of - macroeconomics, microeconomics, finance, management, marketing, tourism, business economics and commerce, construction economics and building, commodity science, regional economics, informatics, etc. The Annual Book has categorically proved its usefulness for the academic staff development as well as the undergraduates’ and PhD students’ training. Published in Bulgarian with abstracts in English, the Annual Book is included in international special bibliographies. It is also part of publications exchange among over 50 higher educational institutions in Great Britain, Germany, Russia, USA, Japan, Belgium, Ukraine, Hungary, Slovenia, Poland, Slovakia, Lithuania and Kazakhstan.

The International Scientific and Practical Conference “Construction Entrepreneurship and Real Property” is held every year since 1985 by the Department of Economics and Management of Construction. The topic of the conference results from the special nature of the economic settings in Bulgaria and is largely predetermined by the continuing problems in banking, construction business and real estate management. The establishment of the "Commodity Science" department and specialty at the first Higher Trade School (now the University of Economics - Varna) in Bulgaria dates back to October 19, 1948. The confirmation and development of academic education in the field of commodity science only at the University of Economics - Varna is conditioned by the foresight of its founder, first rector and professor of commodity science - Tsani Kalyandzhiev, the presence of prominent scientists and teachers who continued his work, the creation of good conditions and renewed material base, current scientific research, the need for specialists who know the factors for the formation of the assortment and the quality of the goods, its evaluation, control and management. For its 75 years of development and resistance to economic challenges, the "Commodity Science" department develops dynamically in accordance with the development of international markets, the requirements of practice and consumers, provides scientific solutions and trained staff to national and international businesses. She has left a rich scientific legacy in the field of commodity knowledge - over 165 textbooks and teaching aids for universities and vocational high schools, more than 325 scientific studies have been published, of which 20 monographs, 170 articles, 130 reports, there are 46 inventions and over 50 developments on scientific projects. Only for the last 5 years (2019-2023), the scientific publications of the department staff are 135, of which 40 are in foreign refereed and indexed scientific publications Scopus /Web of Science. The number of citations of the publications of the members of the academic staff for the last 5 years is 320, and in the indexed editions Scopus and Web of Science they are 74%. Over 100 are the joint scientific publications of members of the department with their supervised doctoral students and students. The Department of "Commodity Science" has organized and conducted 20 international scientific forums, at which 790 reports were presented, of which 487 were by foreign scientists and 383 by Bulgarian scientists, it trained over 3680 graduates, unique specialists - bachelors, masters and doctoral students with wide realization. The actuality and growing need for knowledge about commodities, established traditions, international scientific partnership and that with practice and business, the proven historical significance of scientific contributions and prepared staff from the "Commodity Science" department determine its sustainable development, vitality and perspective.
