Bohemistyka

Bohemistyka

Frequency: 4 issues / Country: Poland

"Bohemistic" – the international forum of discussion for bohemists Today Polish bohemists are convinced that in Poland we lack the magazine which would aim at discussions over the issues of bohemistic which are being worked on not only in Czech Republic but also abroad. Beginning publishing the new Slavic magazine, despite the unfavorable conditions, I am utterly convinced that I am fulfilling the needs of all interested in the subject. The new magazine is called "Bohemistic", and is being published by the Institute of Slavic Philologie in Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. This periodical will come out four times a year. What will "Bohemistic" be? Most of all it will be a complete and reliable set of information and, as I hope, an effective help for all bohemists, primarily in Poland. For this purpose it will be a means of exchange of thoughts, doubts, and also experience, a means which will make all the readers familiar with what has been done so far, inform about all conferences that are being organized etc. Hopefully it will be the best possible media of bohemistic thought and information. The paradigm of "Bohemistic" were magazines like "Nase řeč" ("Our Matter"), "Česká literatura" ("Czech Literature") and "Český jazyk a literatura" ("Czech Literature and Language"), from which I have also taken the magazine"s structure and its format. Aiming at bringing together the research workers and all that sympathize with the subject, like also all that are interested in bohemistic, the magazine will consist of – apart from the scientific – the review and the report sections. That is why I have decided to focus on this three main sections: 1.Scientific section, with information on current scientific-research output in the field of bohemistic, and with articles on Czech literary studies and linguistics, together with comparative works.2.Review and report section with information concerning books on bohemistic that appear on the Czech, Polish and world market. It will surely help the readers with being up-to-date with all novelties. For this purpose we will also supplement the magazine with critical review of what is going on in the publishing market, the reviews of the novelties and reports on scientific researches. 3.Annalistic section in which I would like to include complete and useful information concerning bohemistic centers in the world, jubilees of Czech and world bohemists, scientific conferences devoted to the issues of Czech literature and language etc. This section will also run the reports from conferences, articles on anniversaries and jubilees of Polish and world bohemists, and also reports on bohemistic institutions and organizations all over the world. Whether this aims be realized or not does not depend solely on me or the editorial staff. We should all join in editing of "Bohemistic", so the issue may be popularized properly. The value of this periodical will depend also on our harmonious and well planned cooperation. That is why I ask all of you not to be the readers only, but to become co-authors. I do not mean to impose the form of this cooperation on anyone. Each and every comment, an article, a review, a report, any kind of information will be of great importance and meaning to the nature of the magazine.

Człowiek i Społeczeństwo

Człowiek i Społeczeństwo is an academic journal of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Adam Mickiewicz University, published in both paper and on-line versions. It focuses both on the issues of the individual and communities in the context of contemporary culture. The aim of the journal is to break down the walls separating academic disciplines, to integrate research in the field of social sciences, and indicate new research areas that require an interdisciplinary approach. By initiating discussions, the journal also aims to work out new dimensions and viewpoints on issues that have been the subjects of interest for separate social sciences, whilst at the same time contributing to the development of the latter.

Journal of Applied Cultural Studies

Journal of Applied Cultural Studies

Frequency: 1 issues / Country: Poland

The Journal of Applied Cultural Studies is an international, peer-reviewed scientific journal directed at researchers representing all fields of the humanities and social sciences. The editorial board of the journal publishes original scientific articles, focused on the concept of applied cultural studies. Empirically-oriented social science, since its beginnings, has faced the problem of defining the aim of its studies. The social sciences have failed in their attempt to develop a logos out of the different forms of ethnic, social and national life. The authors of the project believe that culture is an assemblage of patterns preserved in the traditions and customs of a particular community. All the attempts at replacing this diversity with one homogeneous picture are doomed to fail. The presented approach justifies a change in attitude to method. Culture, when regarded as a dia-logos, could become a field of exploration, under the condition that the intention to present a complex approach to what culture is be abandoned. The Editorial Board of the journal accepts new proposals for articles written in English, according to the presented paradigm, each year until June 15th. We welcome your interest and invite you to contact us.

Kultura - Społeczeństwo - Edukacja

Kultura - Społeczeństwo - Edukacja

Frequency: 2 issues / Country: Poland

Problems tackled in the scientific papers included in the magazine are being put in a strictly global discourse over a temporal multidimensionality of contemporary society and the condition of the modern man, who’s living in a ambiguous and ambivalent global reality, forced to search for his place in a continuously constructed multicultural reality. A global cultural ecumene determines also an unconventional view on education in global conditions. Modern discourse over the quality of education, including the multiplicity of socio-cultural contexts of changes occurring in the world should favor the ability to design educational actions for the shaping of a pro-developmental society sharing a general education. Therefore a sine qua non condition should be an understanding of the essence of the transformation taking place in the educational field. Papers included, shall contribute to a general reflection and be simultaneously an invitation to a discussion on the participation of individuals in global culture, with a special emphasis on remarks over a necessary evolution of education in global conditions.

Neues Paradigma über Lokale und Regionale Entwicklung in Polen und in Deutschland

Przestrzenie Teorii

Frequency: 2 issues / Country: Poland

Przestrzenie Teorii [Spaces in Theory] is a theoretical and literary journal of scholarly criticism. Established in 2002 in the Faculty of Polish and Classical Philology of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (AMU)., it is co-edited and developed in a close cooperation with the Faculty of Polish Studies at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. In the past, Przestrzenie Teorii was issued once a year, but since 2007, the journal is published by Adam Mickiewicz University Press bi-annually. The journal is refereed and has a nationwide range. It has also been able to attract growing interest in academic communities throughout Europe and overseas. Each article is preceded with an English translation of its abstract. The journal reflects the research interests of authors from across a wide range of universities and colleges in Poland and presents translations of texts of distinguished foreign theoreticians in literature publishing abroad. The journal undertakes to present key and essential problems in the contemporary criticism and theory of literature, provides a platform for a transdisciplinary dialogue, in which arguments, controversy and complementarity of the contributions reflect and shape the present research and artistic awareness and consciousness (at the scholary community level). The published texts, presented in diversified methodological approach, address both aesthetical and poetical problems, show particular areas of research in philosophy and physics encompassing theatre and film, but also drama, fine arts and music, which enlight one another, correspond with one another, or reveal condradictions. The journal is characterized by its interdiciplinary approach, participates in the present-day scholarly discourse in the field of the philosophy of science and attempts to effect its policy of fostering the polyphonic form of literary studies in drama. The creative dramatics of the journal is co-produced by particular thematic sections: essays, interpretations, presentations, translations and reviews. Przestrzenie Teorii, presenting an interesting overview across a wide spectrum of modern thinking, becomes thus a multi-dimensional space of post-modern scholarly declarations of theoretical turns or shifts and of view and opinions. Presented theoretical considerations are not limited in their scope to just literature, but open up to the vast areas of culture and arts.
