Short Description

Istorikii, an annual issue of the Department of History and Archaeology at the Faculty of Humanities of Konstantin Preslavsky University of Shumen, is dedicated to research in the fields of history, archaeology, ethnology, cultural studies, and related disciplines. The articles included are organized into several thematic and problem-oriented sections, in accordance with the established requirements of historical chronology. Each volume of the series is developed around a specific theme. It provides a platform for the publication of original scientific research, reviews, case studies and discussions on current issues in history written by Bulgarian and foreign scholars. The series also includes source texts revealing facts from Bulgarian and world history, national public life, as well as reviews of recently published books in the field of humanities.

The series was launched in 2006. Its title is linked to the work Istorikii by Konstantin Preslavsky. The text was compiled in 894 following the model of the brief chronography of Patriarch Nicephorus, which also served as its principal source. Istorikii turned the Bulgarian reader’s attention toward world history as well as Old Bulgarian history.
