Summary/Abstract: he coexistence of people and nature presupposes relationships and dependencies that are intertwined in the culture of every human community and leave a lasting mark on its cultural and historical heritage. Since Bulgaria is in second place in Europe in terms of biological diversity, the development of ecotourism has its serious prerequisites and prospects. At the same time, various problems are also present, which, if not adequately resolved, are likely to cause lasting damage to both nature and the community. This article is based on personal ethnological field research in the protected area “Kalimok-Brushlen”, located in the territories of the municipalities of Tutrakan and Slivo Pole. The stories of three respondents were used – Lidiya Svetoslavova and Kristiyan Yakimov, founders of the “Association for the Development of Tourism in the Tutrakan Region” and Nikolay Krumov, former mayor of the village of Brushlen, with numerous ideas and attempts to develop and promote specific tourist services in the area. They outline the main problems and possible solutions for the development of tourism, and in particular ecotourism, in the region where the “Kalimok – Brushlen” protected area is located.
