Summary/Abstract: The authors propose an interpretation of the aesthetic experience – presented in categories of dispersion and integration – as representative of the more generally understood experience of modernity. They show how one of the fundamental concepts of aesthetics can be used as a key to understanding the transformations of modern and contemporary culture. The authors deal with issues of the genealogy, status and character of the modern experience, they portray numerous aspects of the aesthetic experience, with a focus on highlighting the tension between integration and dispersion. They also present the artistic elements of the aesthetic experience, oscillating between the two categories.

Kant, the author analyses the idea of experience as a cognitive situation where some beliefs are changed under the influence of the events in the outer or the inner environment. At the same time he attempts to show that human experience – related to the openness, the innovation and the conceptual variability – exceeds Kant’s conceptual framework. Two types of experience are also depicted – an aesthetic one and a philosophical one – that show the limits of human concepts and in this sense make the essence of experience as such the subject of experiencing.

- Summary/Abstract:The article confronts the concept of the experience developed by the British empiricists and the concept of W. James which he himself considers as radicalization of the previous one. This comparison allows to follow the emerging of Hume’s skeptical attitude and enables an interpretation of James’ concept that assumed existence of the pure experience and possibility of drawing all the other concepts from it. In fact already in the thought of Locke we can find a concept similar to James’ idea of pure experience, which was developed on the psychological basis and devoid of the metaphysical ground. However, in case of both philosophers it remains only a methodological postulate accepted due to the practical reasons.

- Summary/Abstract:The essay attempts to explain the Hegel’s metaphor of modernity as a tragicomedy. Understanding of aesthetic categories of tragedy and comic quality by Hegel is explained. Then the views of J. Habermas and W. Benjamin are presented as two types of answer for the “tragicomic” condition of modernity suggested by Hegel. Both views try to save consensual “objectivism” of experience, defining the condition of a modern subject as a conflict between the possibilities of tragic sublimity and comic agreement.

- Summary/Abstract:The articles attempts to depict ontology of the procedural knowledge that expresses a new vision of the postmodern world. The author declares that nowadays the rationality in making decisions by a subject is limited to adopting the conformist attitude towards the behavioral regulations imposed on him or her. Accordingly the areas of freedom for a subject shrink. In such situation philosophy can be a useful field of reflection insofar as it offers a postmodern vision of the world taking into consideration the sensibility of a subject which is shaped by postmodern practices.

- Summary/Abstract:The articled is aimed at the analysis of the theory of social reality developed by Michel Maffesoli. It seems especially interesting in the perspective of the social imagination of the late modernity. Maffesoli combines a peculiar form of rationality with affectivity, corporeality with the new forms of spirituality, essence with guise, feeling of community with dispersion, identity with strangeness. His vision of culture is affected by the extreme axiological relativism, as well as by the glary one-sided attitude in the assessment of the imaginative processes that constitute the social sphere.

- Summary/Abstract:Starting point for the article is the category of neutrum used by R. Barthes in his polemics with the semiological assumptions revealing games, in which the language participates as power and force. Neutrum is a desire to refuse fighting; it is “suspension” and neutralization of the conflict, avoiding the paradigm that forces to choose between “something” and “something different”. As a result the meaning is “liberated” by creating a “polymorphic area”, where there is no place for the direct conflict between the binary oppositions.

- Summary/Abstract:The article is devoted to the poetological concept of Yoko Tawada, a Japanese author writing in German. In this concept the literature is treated as a magic area, not as a mimetic one. Characteristic is also abandonment of the unambiguous evaluations and of determining the identities towards their “liquefaction”. The process of weakening the identities takes place under the sign of mutual illumination of the languages: German and Japanese. Works of Tawada are presented in the context of the “migrant” literature that fosters aesthetic experience of the language.

- Summary/Abstract:In the text selected opinions are analysed, that allow to reflect on the term of transcendence devoid of the remnants of the classic metaphysical thinking. In reference to the “aesthetic transcendence” of Adorno and to the analyses of Heidegger, the concepts of J.-F. Lyotard and J. Derrida were interpreted, by putting them into the context of asking for the subjectivity shaped through the aesthetic experience. It would be subjectivity that is constituted (as to the source) by the “outside”, by something that seems to be the excess, that goes beyond the intentional project of the consciousness.

The author analyzes the Vitruvian model being reborn in the modern architecture and then she presents interpretation of the body drawn from philosophy of G. Deleuze.
