Summary/Abstract: The symbolic experience of the world in the aesthetics of Kant appears along with the sublime and the aesthetic idea. It requires a modification in perceiving of reality, one that moves from subordinating the variety to the concepts that produce the knowable nature to transforming that variety into a symbol of something that exceeds the sensual realm. The article analyses this process under the condition of neutralization, i.e. depreciation of the cognitive forms, at the decline of imagination and within the dynamics of rich sensual evidence.
