Summary/Abstract: The articled is aimed at the analysis of the theory of social reality developed by Michel Maffesoli. It seems especially interesting in the perspective of the social imagination of the late modernity. Maffesoli combines a peculiar form of rationality with affectivity, corporeality with the new forms of spirituality, essence with guise, feeling of community with dispersion, identity with strangeness. His vision of culture is affected by the extreme axiological relativism, as well as by the glary one-sided attitude in the assessment of the imaginative processes that constitute the social sphere.
