Summary/Abstract: The author attempts to answer the question of how the negotiation of meaning works in humorous texts. She reviews various stands on the blurry notion of negotiation and juxstaposes them with the theory of humor. In the second part of the article, she discusses how to adapt the presented concepts in teaching Polish as a foreign language in advanced groups.
