Short Description

The “Acta Universitatis Lodziensis. Studies in the Teaching Polish to Foreigners” (original title: “Acta Universitatis Lodziensis. Kształcenie Polonistyczne Cudzoziemców”) journal has been published since 1987 and is the oldest Polish journal dedicated to teaching Polish as a foreign language (PFL). The journal’s editorial board consists of researchers from the Department of Applied and Cultural Linguistics at the Faculty of Philology, University of Lodz. The journal is devoted to research in humanities, in particular Polish as a foreign language pedagogy – the published studies concern various issues in teaching Polish as a foreign/second language, also in comparison with other languages. “Acta Universitatis Lodziensis. Studies in the Teaching Polish to Foreigners” assumes the linguistc perspective on the discussed issues considering at the same time findings in pedagogy, research in communication, cultural studies, literary studies, psychology, psycholinguistics, sociology and other fields of study. The journal is addressed to specialists teaching Polish as a foreign/second language both in Poland and abroad and to scholars interested in glottodidactics.

The journal published articles by both domestic and international experts in teaching PFL and Polish culture. A few issues consisted of proceedings of important glottodidactic conferences, some – of research monographs which discuss topics related to PFL pedagogy, others are collections of separate articles. Starting with issue 23/2013 the journal is published both in the paper form and electronically. Full issues and separate texts are available for general public in the University of Lodz online repository free of charge (http://dspace.uni.lodz.pl:8080/xmlui/handle/11089/1350). The previous issues have been digitalized and are available at the same address. “Acta Universitatis Lodziensis.
