Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the results of the comparative analysis of social workforce productivity carried out from sectoral and spatial point of view. Workforce productivity, measured by gross value added (GVA) per employed person in agricultural and nonagricultural sector, was analyzed internationally, that is in 27 EU countries, and in Poland in 16 voivodships. The direction and scale of the changes occurring in the diversity of workforce productivity in the analyzed spatial systems during the ten years of the ongoing integration process and cohesion policy were determined. The differences and similarities in the course of the examined processes in analyzed systems were stipulated, as well as the importance of economic and social policy in activating transformation processes necessary for a more efficient use of workforce resources in backward areas in the process of structural transformation.
