Multifactorial assessment method of transformation in the spatial structure of Polish economy

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents multifactorial analysis method of the development process of all local territorial units in the country (municipalities, including the cities and rural areas), i.e. the territorial units for which synthetic evaluation indicators in statistics are not developed. This method was used in the RP-3808/B/H03/2011/40 to characterize the transformation taking place in the spatial structure of the Polish economy during a deepening of the integration process and implementation of cohesion policy (in 2003–2012). This method made it possible to determine the changes within the territorial areas of relatively high, medium and low level of development occurring in the decade analyzed, including in the period of favorable economic conditions (2003–2008), as well as the slowdown after 2008. The study presents the methodology and partial results of the research.
