Summary/Abstract: The subject of study are the issues related to the diversification of growth and economic development level of individual EU countries and regions, including Poland. The study discusses a problem whether there are any theoretical or empirical premises to believe that these differences are being gradually reduced in long periods of time and there appears a tendency to converge levels of development, ie. the convergence, or otherwise − this diversity is deepening and there appears a tendency to divergence. It also identifies the benefits and risks of development agglomeration.
