Key Problems, Signs and Indicators for the Construction of an Integrated Statistics on Women

Summary/Abstract: This article gives views for the improvement of conception and methods of gathering statistical information for the status and the social role of women. The requirements for the improvement of the system for statistical observations are included in a number of documents accepted on the occasion of the International year and the international decade on women, as declared by the UN. The conceptual framework and methods which existed in Bulgaria until recently are by and large outdated because they reflect the requirements of a different socioeconomic system. The purposes which are considered in the elaboration of the key problems are: first, to assure for an entire survey of the existing statistical observations on women in the state; second, to contribute to a reconsideration, including rejection, of some old problems and inclusion of newly established ones connected to the transition to new socio-economic conditions; third, to suggest better methodological approaches of observation. The basic methodological approaches used here are: method of comparability, including the gender approach; biarchatic-approach; the module approach. The key problems, signs, and indicators are discussed according to sectors of women's social activity. ------------------------- L'article présente quelques idées pour le perfectionnement de la conception et des méthodes de collecte d'information statistique sur le statut et les rôles sociaux de la femme. Les exigences de l'amélioration du système des observations statistiques figurent dans plusieurs documents publiés à l'occasion de l'Année internationale et de la Décennie internationale de la femme. Le cadre conceptuel et les méthodes, servant de base à l'information statistique sur la femme en Bulgarie, sont plus ou moins dépassés, car ils reflètent un système social et économique différent. Quels sont les objectifs étroitement liés aux problèmes-clé? — Il s'agit, tout d'abord, de procéder à une révision globale des observations statistiques sur la femme dans notre pays; deuxièmement, d'aider à un approfondissement des réflexions et, respectivement, au rejet de certains éléments et à l'introduction de questions actuelles, liées à la transition à de nouvelles conditions socio-économiques; et troisièmement, de proposer des approches méthodologiques plus efficaces pour l'observation. Les principales approches méthodologiques utilisées sont: la comparaison, l'étude des caractéristiques des deux sexes, le module (la simulation). Les problèmes, indicateurs et indices-clé sont examinés par secteurs d'activités sociales des femmes.
