Summary/Abstract: The present paper describes the instrumental methods of verifying the decontamination efficacy of selected chemical warfare agents, conducted at specialized facilities of the National Institute for Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Protection, public research institution, as a part of their parameterization and validation. The authors describe practical decontamination experiments applying three different types of decontamination agents: decontamination liquids, gel, and solid sorbent. The decontamination process simulated an actual intervention in an area contaminated with highly toxic chemical substances and was always based on the prescribed working methodology. The residual contamination level of the respective test substance, or its concentration on the model material used, was analytically determined and compared with the initial contaminant concentration. The results of the experiments provided specific insights into the efficacy of decontamination reactions of the monitored decontaminants under conditions close to the real emergency response scenario.
