Summary/Abstract: The authors of the study examined the transfer of model contaminants that may occur during collection of dactyloscopic traces collected by means of actual investigative procedures. To confirm the extent of cross-contamination of unrelated forensic traces, the following model substances were used in the experiments: fluorescein, a fluorescent compound applied in the form of microcrystalline powder, and methamphetamine, representing a real contaminant of the group of biologically active substances. The performed experiments clearly demonstrated the potential of existing investigative procedures and technical means to generate a cross-contamination of unrelated forensic evidence.
