Summary/Abstract: The lands of present-day Bulgaria, including the Razgrad region, were inhab-ited by Thracian tribes who developed a remarkable culture. An essential part of this culture includes their religious beliefs and burial practices. The Thra-cians worshipped many deities, the most popular of which was the Thracian Horseman, frequently depicted on votive tablets, several of which have been found in the Razgrad area. Tombs, necropolises, and burial mounds have been preserved in the region, among them the famous Sveshtari Tomb near the modern town of Isperih.
