Summary/Abstract: This study is focusing on the regional dimension of the foreign policy of the People’ Republic of China, and tries to explain the main political, security and economic dimensions of its relations with the Middle Eastern states and those from Northern Africa, since the beginning of the first presidential mandate ofXi Jinping Even if the economic dimension seems to be the main priority for China when enhancing its bilateral relations with those states, there is also a concern about forging enhanced partnerships for a multipolar world, reducing the global presence of the USA and also increasing the chances of survival for the communist political regime in Beijing.
