První světová válka v díle fráni šrámka

Author(s): Iveta Bůžková / Language(s): Czech Publication Year: 0

The cruel experience from the First World War was reflected in the work of a number of Czech writers. Fráňa Šrámek was one of the participants in battles at the front and his personal experience from the war left its mark on him. The article deals with Šrámek’s prose as well as drama work which has war and war topics in the foreground. We believe that this issue has not yet been sufficiently addressed. Dramas including “Hagenbek”, “Zvony” and “Soud”, a collection of stories“Žasnoucí voják”, selected letters from the war “Listy z fronty”, and a novel called “Tělo” will be researched. The aim of the article is to introduce Fráňa Šrámek not only as a poet of “youth” but to show to what extent the war experience was reflected in his work.

Teroristický čin jako rituál obětování a literární mýtus o teroristovi-revolucionáři v ruské literatuře druhé poloviny xix. A počátku xx. Století

Teroristický čin jako rituál obětování a literární mýtus o teroristovi-revolucionáři v ruské literatuře druhé poloviny xix. A počátku xx. Století

Author(s): Kateřina Judith Krulišová / Language(s): Czech Publication Year: 0

Terrorism, the creation of which is associated with the second half of the 19th century, developed in the Russian empire territory. Terrorism in the concept of revolutionists represented a phenomenon linked to the ancient concept of the sacrificial ritual and it was considered to be the only way out of the ever-deepening social crisis. In response to the unprecedented assassinations, the victims of which were representatives of the government’s mechanism, a literary myth appeared about a terrorist-revolutionist who was supposed to explain and justify the violent acts in terms of their contribution to the future revolution. The myth, which was born and developed in artistic literature, is a collection of independent literary works in which a terrorist is the main protagonist. The article examines the connection of principles of ancient sacrificial rituals with terrorist acts and the subsequent creation of a literary myth about a terrorist, whose protagonist went through a significant change from the second half of the 19th to the beginning of the 20th century.

Percepce jedince a problematika společnosti na pozadí dějinných událostí v ruském a bulharském prostředí (na příkladu děl b. Okudžavy a i. Vazova)

Author(s): Magdaléna Marie Semrádová / Language(s): Czech Publication Year: 0

The subject of this research is the concept of man and society in the second half of the 19th century in the context of Russian and Bulgarian literature. The research was carried out using a historical novel by Bulat Okudzhava called “Poor Avrosimov” and a realistic novel by Ivan Vazov titled “Under the Yoke”. Both texts contain specific features caused by different environments and influences which significantly contributed to the nature of the chosen works. The basis of the research is the reflection of the society and its changes by the narrator’s view through literary-scientific and sociological methods as well as comparative analysis. Continuity of both the work and the author forms one of the central pillars in the work. Further, we came to the conclusion that the historiosophical element fulfils an essential function in the works; it is necessary to remember significant historical events and to observe the movement of society as well as influences that affect the life of man. This way, we confirmed that literature fulfils its educational function, which the author greatly contributes to himself.

Využitie cestopisného žánru pri propagovaní česko-slovenskej vzájomnosti u Rudolfa Pokorného

Author(s): Jana Bujnáková / Language(s): Slovak Publication Year: 0

The author of the study elucidates the travelogue as a genre, imagology, and Czech-Slovak relations. She links these topics towards the end where she explores the spread of Czech-Slovak reciprocity via travelogues. The main emphasis of the research is put on a selected travelogue, Wanderings across Slovakia written by Rudolf Pokorný, that provides a basis for this work. Pokorný analyses the mutual relations behind Czech- -Slovak reciprocity that have been influenced by the historical development and the socio- -political situation in the last third of 19th century. However, it was the language that was a key to the understanding of this relationship. This extensive two-part travelogue contains a considerable number of plausible records, that elucidate and illustrate not only personal contacts and relations among individual representatives of national life, but they also represent a valuable historical material in connection with ethnography and the authentic life of ordinary Slovak people.

Anna Horáková-Gašparíková v kontexte česko-slovenskej historiografie

Anna Horáková-Gašparíková v kontexte česko-slovenskej historiografie

Author(s): Hana Hrancová / Language(s): Slovak Publication Year: 0

The aim of the research is to include Anna Horáková-Gašparíková in the context of Czech-Slovak historiography and to analyse her historical work with the intention to point out the fact that her work is predominated by factography, objectivity and a historical-documentary line. The subject of the analysis is her work published by the press, unpublished articles and notes regarding historical works deposited in the Literary Archives of the Slovak National Library in Martin. At the same time, it is about pointing out relations with the representatives of the current scientific scene which influenced her work. As a source document for the analysis of Anna Horáková-Gašparíková’s contacts with the historical community, we used diaries from the Masaryk family house, taking into account that they were written by the author herself and thus they are subjective to a large extent. In the paper, we point out that Anna Horáková-Gašparíková was more of a historian than a writer and in her historical works, the facts prevail over her significant literary talent.

Między ekfrazą i apokryfem. O wybranych tekstach Jacka Dehnela

Między ekfrazą i apokryfem. O wybranych tekstach Jacka Dehnela

Author(s): Julia Dynkowska / Language(s): Polish Publication Year: 0

The paper concerns peculiar literary genre—ekphrasis (a literary description of work of art). Basing on selected (prose and poetic) texts by Polish writer Jacek Dehnel, which involve photography and painting, I am trying to examine if (and to what extent) the category of apocryphon may be adapted for research on ekphrasis. The category of apocryphon describes not only texts which supplement The Bible or literary mystifications, but also (prototypically) literary works in which “so-called modern realities are left more or less intact” (D. Szajnert’s suggestion) and which are filling up or amplifying narrations from works of fiction considered as canonical (e.g. short stories from Karel Čapek’s Kniha apokryfů).

Влияние школьного театра на драматическое творчество Симеона Полоцкого

Влияние школьного театра на драматическое творчество Симеона Полоцкого

Author(s): Ivana Petković / Language(s): Russian Publication Year: 0

In the present work we will show how school theatre influenced dramatic works of Simeon Polotsky. Considering him as a founder of drama genre in Russian baroque literature, we will try to demonstrate the importance of school plays in that process (didactic role, elements of rhetoric, and declamation patterns). We will focus on his two dramas in order to examine this influence: Parable of the Prodigal Son, and On Nebuchadnezzar the King. Further, we will examine the importance of Polish and Ukrainian school theatre, National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and Slavonic-Greek-Latin Academy. Moreover, we will focus on the influence of Catholic and Orthodox religions on Simeon Polotsky’s works through the school theatre.

Elégie na odchádzanie (stopy elegického žánru v tvorbe Zbigniewa Herberta)

Elégie na odchádzanie (stopy elegického žánru v tvorbe Zbigniewa Herberta)

Author(s): Jaroslava Smejkalová / Language(s): Slovak Publication Year: 0

An elegy as a lyrical genre has remained in various genre modifications from ancient times to the present day. In Polish literature, there were renaissance poets who followed in the tradition of Roman elegy. Among them, there is Jan Kochanowski, whose work is in this respect considered the canon of mourning poetry. Post-war Polish poets return to the elegy. Thus they follow in Jan Kochanowski’s tradition, and on the base of some individual creative methods, they also transform this genre into the genre form that meets the criteria of modern poetry. The article is dedicated to Zbigniew Herbert’s poems of the elegiac mood. Elegiac tones in the verse of this Polish poet are evident since the beginning of his work, and their intensity increases up to the last author’s collections in which the tones gain an intimate autobiographical character of bidding farewell to all the beauty and things of this world.

FROM TANGO TO ROCK ‘N’ ROLL. A COMPARATIVE STUDY IN TWO DISSIDENT DRAMAS

FROM TANGO TO ROCK ‘N’ ROLL. A COMPARATIVE STUDY IN TWO DISSIDENT DRAMAS

Author(s): Katarzyna Jaworska / Language(s): Czech Publication Year: 0

This paper aims to examine Sławomir Mrożek’s Tango and Tom Stoppard’s Rock ‘n’ Roll. Both plays explore the concept of intelligentsia, its role and condition in a postmodern society. Although these plays were written at different periods, they have the same motives of rebellion and conformity. Both texts challenge the conventions of bourgeois drama. Both plays convey an ideological message by criticizing totalitarianism and its influence on society and an individual. Furthermore, popular culture and music that are present in both plays reflect the social and cultural changes of 20th century. Tango and Rock ‘n’ Roll became symbols of a certain culture and ideology. The comparative study of the two plays is aimed at examining such their similarities as, for example, the rise and fall of communist regime in Central Europe.

NÁŘEČÍ - KÁMEN ÚRAZU PŘI PŘEKLADU LITERÁRNÍHO TEXTU

Author(s): Mariya Rakova / Language(s): Czech Publication Year: 0

This paper aims to examine a literary text from the translatology and stylistics perspective. When translating fiction, literary studies and stylistics inevitably come into contact. Problems, however, arise when it comes to translating dialect elements. This issue has been extensively studied, but, when it comes to practice, every translator has a freedom to choose a method and justify it. To analyze this phenomenon, short stories by J. Radichkov, a Bulgarian author, and their Czech translations have been chosen. The use of literary dialect in Radichkov’s works differs from the typical conveying of the local atmosphere. In his works, literary dialect itself becomes a stylistic feature that is worth exploring, especially in Czech translation.

Author(s): Martyna Sienkiewicz / Language(s): Russian Publication Year: 0

In V. Erofeev’s Moscow–Petushki, the main character is both a rebel and a slave who cannot find himself. Venichka does not understand the Soviet reality or its rules. Because of his bipolar disorder, he resists the broken system and submits to it at the same time. This paradoxical behaviour is seen as typical of people who grew up under the communist regime. Drinking is for him an attempt to escape the suffering brought by the Soviet system: Venichka js trying to save his soul and ideals. On one hand, he is too weak to fight the system in earnest, and, on the other hand, he cannot fully agree with it and become a devoted servant of the state. In the end, he is defeated and killed.

PROSTREDIE A POSTAVA V ČESKO-SLOVENSKOM (DEDINSKOM) REALIZME

Author(s): Simona Švandová / Language(s): Slovak Publication Year: 0

The paper is focused on the character and the space in the Slovak literary realism. These significant attributes are compositional joined. For writers of this period—M. Kukučín, K. V. Rais—autobiographical elements are characteristic. Both authors pointed to (de)formation of characters influenced by reality of that time and mainly by the space. It reveals their essence of the interpersonal relations that are reflected from many aspects. Realistic picture of the village was for these writers not only cliché. The village was not only (literary) home, but it gives space for psychological analysis of characters.

Samobójstwo w Wilkowyjach – analiza sposobu przedstawienia prób samobójczych w serialu „Ranczo”

Author(s): Karol Milczarek / Language(s): Polish Publication Year: 0

Adopting a suicidological perspective, the author analyses one of the recent Polish pop-culture phenomena – “Ranczo” – a comedy series directed by Wojciech Adamczyk. He describes the ways of presenting several types of self-destructive behaviors, but focuses on the scenes of suicidal attempts and their classification and comparison. Taking historical context into account enables the author to explain particular esthetic and fabular choices. Finally, he explores ethical implications of creating a specific image of suicide in “Ranczo”.

"Mój ziom się powiesił w Sylwestra"

Author(s): Maciej Grzenkowicz / Language(s): Polish Publication Year: 0

Mata is one of the most popular rappers in Poland and a voice of young Polish upper classes. This article describes his history and characterizes his work, analyzing his songs in order to find the main self-destructive behaviours and reasons for them in Mata’s discourse. The author lists two main types of behaviour – suicide ideation with suicide attempts and extensive use of psychoactive substances – and two main reasons, which are the family relations and the hegemonic pressure to be productive. He also interprets Mata’s works as a proposal to form of a social class alternative to the contemporary intelligentsia, that is: patointelligentsia, which, by its critical approach towards contemporary cultural-political hegemony would be able to lead to the dialogue and improvement of the situation of the youth.

Samobójstwo osób w kryzysie bezdomności w Polsce

Author(s): Dominika Filipowicz / Language(s): Polish Publication Year: 0

The author analyses the problem of suicide death among homeless people in Poland. Since there is little research concerning this particular problem in Poland, she focuses on the case of Grzegorz Laskowski, a homeless man who committed suicide in 2014. By analysing his blog entries, she tries to find the reasons which could have pushed him to the decision to commit suicide. This particular case is only a starting point for further considerations regarding possible risk factors in homelessness. Laskowski’s blog provides us with a unique insight into a homeless man’s perspective on suicide.

The article’s aim is to inquire whether the halny wind affects suicidal behaviours in Tatra County. It analyses the region’s literature on the wind and its influence on the community; documentary and feature films depicting life in Zakopane; research on the correlation between the foehn winds and suicides; a survey conducted for this purpose; and interviews conducted with the people of Zakopane. The outcome of this analysis is an observation of reconceptualization of the halny and its legend as a pretext for avoidance of both further discourse about it and design of preventive programs.

Zjawisko suicide survivors – konsekwencje samobójstwa oraz postwencja w przypadku kontaktu ze śmiercią samobójczą

Author(s): Aleksandra Brągiel / Language(s): Polish Publication Year: 0

With the growing interest in the suicide phenomenon, more and more information on intervention and social education has emerged over the past decades. A fuller understanding of the topic of self-destruction along with helping people in a suicidal crisis and their relatives may contribute to reducing the number of sudden deaths. Through a review of research and specialist literature, the work explains the phenomenon of suicide survivors and presents how suicide affects people in the suicide’s environment. Moreover, it distinguishes needs of suicide-bereaved families. It also emphasizes what forms of help may be effective for people who come into contact with suicide and deal with grief as a result of it.
