Дигитални медии и работа с художествени текстове в обучението по немски език като чужд

Author(s): Elena Savova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 6/2016

The text presents opportunities to use digital media and technology when working with literary texts in teaching German as a foreign language. In this context is being discussed the importance of digital media and their hermeneutic and didactic useful properties (accessibility, multimediality/hypermediality, interactivity). Based on theoretical and methodological literature are presented different opportunities for using various electronic resources, educational materials, electronic applications, platforms, tools, functions, types of tasks. In this way we support the argument that didactic use of digital media complements and enriches the traditional repertoire of learning activities when working with foreign language literature texts. The goal is not only of building a common communication skills of those who study a foreign language, but also of stimulating their creative thinking and behavior, of building conscious and autonomous learners and developing aesthetic and media competence. The conclusion is that to achieve these goals in the current language learning practice through literature are mostly used the "accessibility" and "multimediality/hypermediality" properties of digital media. In recent times is often utilized and the "interactivity". The existing studies often try to comply both with innovative ways of teaching and communication, as well as aesthetic qualities of literary works.

Vocalire: les 7500 mots essentiels pour l’enseignement du vocabulaire français ou son auto-apprentissage en autonomie (colleges, lycees, français langue seconde ou etrangere)

Author(s): Jean-Claude Rolland,Jacqueline Picoche / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2016

The main points covered in this article are: 1. The genesis of VOCALIRE: its filiation with an earlier work by the same authors, the Dictionnaire du Français Usuel, of which it is an abridged version, but also its grounding on its own original research. 2. The originality of a method of teaching French vocabulary based not on themes but on the constitution – from a limited number of words of very high frequency – of whole networks involving their multiple meanings, derivatives, and other words semantically linked. 3. The structure of the articles, in which the main sections have complete sentences for titles. Good examples will explain their usefulness for teaching or independent learning, and demonstrate that this is in no way a dictionary in the usual sense of the word.

Невронауките в помощ на преподаването на чужди езици

Author(s): Tanya Dimitrova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 2/2016

The application of new technologies to neurosciences contributed to revolutionary discoveries which allow to synchronise the methods of teaching with brain’s functional abilities. The mirror neurons, the sound of every language on a different sound frequency, the role of hypothalamus – ’the emotional brain” of memorizing – all these are scientifically proven facts. They can unleash brain’s reserves by using it completely, balancing its analytical and creative potential. The most innovative method that uses the brain reserves – suggestopedic method is still far away from the vision of traditionalists.

Тенденции в развитието на образованието по класически езици и класическа древност на Балканите (Гърция, Македония, Сърбия, Румъния)

Author(s): Mirena Slavova,Yoana Sirakova,Boris Vounchev,Luyba Radilova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 2/2016

This paper shows the outcomes of a study carried out at the Department of Classical Philology at the Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology in Sofia University, dealing with latest trends in classical education in the Balkan area. It aims to outline some crucial characteristics of teaching and learning ancient languages, history and culture in secondary and higher education in the countries of the Balkan Peninsula. Emphasis is put on the different ways by which different educational systems face the challenges in harmonizing their own national features with both the new development and research tendencies in classics and the new generations’ requirements. In all the countries surveyed, a central issue comes to the fore: education in classics turns out to be a strong medium for actualizing both the common European identity of diverse nation hoods and the countries’ own national distinctiveness.

Le refus de postérité dans le roman européen de l’entre-deux-guerres – face au premier couple biblique.

Le refus de postérité dans le roman européen de l’entre-deux-guerres – face au premier couple biblique.

Author(s): Aglika Popova / Language(s): English,French Issue: 1/2019

The aim of this study is to present the modern interpretations of the first Biblical couple in the interwar European novel. Works from French, Romanian and Bulgarian literature have been taken as examples on whose basis analysis has been made of the possible convergence of ideas in Europe during that period. The figure of the first Biblical family has been attracting writers in their aesthetic quests through the reflection on social models and the fulfillment of Man and Woman. Considering this context, the refusal of posterity becomes a painful theme. There is a dilemma between the desire to preserve the couple in the initial stage of innocence before the Fall and the intent to end the cycle of errors repeated by mankind. Last but not least, the theme raises the question of the newly emerging female identity which breaks away from the traditional roles of mother and wife.

Emotions vocabulary and the reconceptualisation of emotions in ann Radcliffee's "The Italian or the confessional of the black penitents"

Emotions vocabulary and the reconceptualisation of emotions in ann Radcliffee's "The Italian or the confessional of the black penitents"

Author(s): Elena Andonova-Kalapsazova / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2019

The article undertakes the analysis of Ann Radcliffe’s novel “The Italian, or the Confessional of the Black Penitents” (1797) from a history of literary emotions perspective which, I argue, yields insights into the attitudes towards emotions embedded in Radcliffe’s works. A reading of the novel from such a perspective also complements the critical studies of the artist’s engaging with the eighteenth-century cult of sensibility. The novel is read as a text that registered but also participated in the dissemination of an epistemology of emotional experience articulated in the idiom of eighteenth-century moral philosophers – Francis Hutcheson, David Hume and Adam Smith - at the same time as it retained some of the older, theology-based conceptions of passions and affections. The dynamic in which the two frameworks for understanding the emotions exist in the novel is explored through a close reading of the vocabulary in which Radcliffe rendered the emotional experiences of her fictional characters. In this reading it is the passions which are found to have been invested with a variety of meanings and attributed a range of moral valences that most noticeably foreground the movement from a generally negative towards a more complex appreciation of powerful emotions.

Looking for heteroglossia and chronotope in New York and London: Pasino and Loncraine's adaptations of "Richard III"

Looking for heteroglossia and chronotope in New York and London: Pasino and Loncraine's adaptations of "Richard III"

Author(s): Mohammad Reza Hassanzadeh Javanian / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2019

The relationship between a cinematic adaptation and its literary source has sparked scholarly debates in the field of adaptation studies. Developed by the Russian literary critic, Mikhail Bakhtin (1895-1975), dialogism can shed new light on the adaptation-source tie as it highlights the mutual interaction between the two sides. The present study argues that Al Pacino and Richard Loncraine’s versions of William Shakespeare’s Richard III (1593) stress such a dialogic aspect of the adaptation process. Within this dialogic framework, Pacino’s Looking for Richard (1996) establishes a heteroglossial relation with the play as it seeks to eliminate the gap between Shakespeare and the movie’s modern viewers. Loncraine’s Richard III (1995), however, is marked by a significant chronotopic strategy which situates Richard in new social and political contexts through a change in the play’s temporal and spatial elements.

Author(s): Corina Croitoru / Language(s): French Issue: 2/2019

Forgotten Issues of Romanian Literary History: War Poetry. Having as a starting point a general reflection on the belonging of Romanian literature to a cultural geography constantly conditioned by history, this study aims to question the reasons why Romanian poetry of the Great War represents for over a century a taboo subject of Romanian literary history, contrary to tendencies in international literary history.

FROM CLOSE TO DISTANT READING OF 100 ROMANIAN NOVELS FROM 1850 TO 1920

Author(s): Luiza Marinescu / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2019

From Close to Distant Reading of 100 Romanian Novels from 1850 to 1920. In Romania, among the academic personalities, Solomon Marcus (b. the 1st of March 1925, Bacău – d. the 17th of March 2016, Bucharest) was perhaps the only one who happily combined linguistics and mathematics, being known in the Romanian philological environment especially for Lingvistica matematică [Mathematical Linguistic], Modele matematice în lingvistică [Mathematical Models in Linguistics], 1963, 1966, and Poetica matematică [Mathematical Poetics], in 1970, and in the international scientific field for numerous translation and also for numerous papers published in prestigious publishing houses in Paris, New York and Bologna. Grounded in the Distant reading paradigm (i.e. using digital humanities in analyzing large collection of literary texts) the paper, From close and to distant reading of Romanian novels from 1850 to 1920 provides a historical classification of texts in order to be included in a multilingual European Literary text Collection (ELTeC), permitting to test methods and compare results across national traditions and consider the consequences of such resources and methods for rethinking fundamental concepts in literary history. The paper is following main ideas in relation with the consequences of an absent research field in Romanian academic studies, digital humanities: Close and distant reading in digital humanities: Romanian literature case from 1850 to 1920; Romanian literary history and ways of transnational knowledge through Distant Reading of literary facts: 100 Romanian novels from 1850 to 1920; Transnational redefinition of periods in national history through a literary species: the novel; The problem of "translation / export" of national literary histories.

BEYOND THE HISTORY OF A LITERARY GENRE: THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF ROMANAIN MEMORY WRITING

Author(s): Doris Mironescu / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2019

Beyond the History of a Literary Genre: The Encyclopedia of Romanian Memory Writing. The paper presents the theoretical frame of the research project The Encyclopedia of Romanian Memory Writing, currently being developed at the “A. Philippide” Institute for Romanian Philology. This encyclopedia joins other recent projects, such as literary dictionaries, in an effort to construct an alternative approach to the (national) literary history by subverting the (legitimizing) causal narration. It will include canonical texts, memoirists, various categories of title-articles, but also a set of operative concepts that allow for a definition of memoir-writing starting from the psychological, philosophical and anthropological implications of memory. By indexing literary phenomena in an encyclopedic manner, the textual corpora of Romanian literature may be described and analyzed in a transnational, comparative and interdisciplinary manner.

LIRE LE SOCIAL DANS LA DÉNÉGATION. SUR LES POSSIBILITÉS D’UNE SOCIOLECTURE DU LITTÉRAIRE

Author(s): Magda Răduță / Language(s): French Issue: 2/2019

Looking for the Denegation. Possibilities of Reading the Social Reality in Literature. Despite a disciplinary history filled with embarrassing determinisms, the sociology of literature still tries to overcome al methodological obstacles, by proposing a mediate reading between the literary work and its socio-historical conditions. The present paper examines two recent examples of this mediate reading: Pierre Bourdieu’s homological model between the author’s position in the literary field and its literary production, respectively Jacques Rancière’s argument for an internal literary structure capable of self-explaining. Irreconcilably different, these two readings present nonetheless a common effort: both of them look for the categories of denegation – unintentional textual structures and silent style choices caused by the author’s habitus and by the social practices and constraints.

FOLKLORE ARCHIVES – WITNESSES OF THE HISTORY OF ETHNOLOGICAL STUDIES

Author(s): Eleonora Sava / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2019

Folklore archives – witnesses of the history of ethnological studies. This study proposes a rereading of the documents kept in a folklore archive from Romania, with a focus on the methods used by those who drafted and archived these documents. The research demonstrates that, in the absence of testimonies regarding the manner in which fieldwork was conducted, the documents of the archive can provide valuable information on the field research and the vision on folklore of several generations of researchers. Thus, archives of folklore are seen as witnesses of the history of ethnology.
