The exhibition contains a selective presentation of library collections and contains information on legislation, policies, documents in the field of ensuring and functioning of gender equality policies.

90 years after they were written, we are publishing the thoughts, needs, joys and hidden pains conveyed in the folios of nine letters (preserved in the Holy Synod Library), sent by the academician Ioan Bianu to the academician priest Nicolae M. Popescu. Six letters come from the archive of Father Nicolae M. Popescu, and the other three (nr. II, VI, VIII) were bought at an antiquity fair in 2017.Both correspondents loved books and heritage. Both protected books from scattering, offering them to the readers that were thirsting for the Word and Science.Moreover, Ioan Bianu and the priest Nicolae M. Popescu are amongst those that, enthusiastic about the Great Unification, offered Greater Romania all the talent and skills that God had bestowed upon them.

Cateva aspecte privind diplomatia publica - instrument-cheie de soft power

Evolutions in the international context determined the increase of the importance of public diplomacy, and this paper follows its role in the foreign policy of a country and in the policies developed by the governmental actors who, in contemporary diplomacy, collaborate with non-state actors and with non-governmental organizations. Governmental policy tries to promote and collaborate rather than to control. Public diplomacy, an instrument of soft power, promotes the cultural values of a state in another state; trying to obtain the image it wants abroad. And for this, the partners of the state are the non-governmental organisations and the simple citizens.

The paper tackles the cultural-educational role of libraries as local, information, educational and cultural centres of local communities in the contemporary information society; it further presents changes in their cultural-educational paradigm caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the global health-related and social crisis triggered by the spreading of the coronavirus. The paper furthermore points to the role of information-communication technology in bridging the communication gap with library users, caused by the introduction of epidemiological measures or rather the closing of library premises. The methodological approach is based on the available relevant literature, primarily covering the areas of librarianship and information sciences, but other scientific areas as well. The research has been conducted by the means of carrying out a questionnaire and gaining an insight into the official statistical data regarding the libraries of the Bjelovar-Bilogora County, with the aim of collecting information on the impact of epidemiological measures on their operation (changed opening hours, prohibited/limited stay of users at library premises), as well as the quantitative and qualitative levels of cultural-educational services the libraries provide to the community. The results of empirical research have shown that national libraries are capable of conducting diverse cultural-educational services adjusted to functioning in crisis situations (such as during the COVID-19 pandemic), and thus – using information-communication technology – retaining their major cultural-educational role in local communities and the society.

Since the great historical event - the proclamation of the Act of Independence of Ukraine, the country has been expanding international cooperation in librarianship. The main areas of international cooperation, which is a priority in research institutions in the library business, are: conducting joint research; organization of international conferences, symposia, congresses and other events. Scientific conferences are one of the forms of dissemination of new information. In the modern information space, scientific institutions play an essential role in developing science, education and culture. Therefore, when evaluating a scientific institution, the number of international scientific and practical seminars, conferences, other events organized by the scientific institution, and materials (including collections of abstracts) of conferences are considered. Among the research institutions of Ukraine, which study the problems of library science, bibliography, bibliology, source studies, document science, archival science, biography, codicology and discography, history of book culture, computer science, social communications, the leading position is held by the most extensive library of Ukraine – the National Library of Ukraine, named after V. I. Vernadsky. Furthermore, the article analyzes the specifics of the organization of scientific conferences in a scientific institution, studies the directions and thematic content of such events, forms of conduct, their frequency during 1991-2021.

Digitalizacja materiałów archiwalnych w świetle prawa autorskiego. Zagadnienia wybrane

W artykule przedstawiono problematykę digitalizacji materiałów archiwalnych, pod którym to pojęciem rozumie się przekształcanie ich tradycyjnego zapisu do cyfrowej postaci. Obecnie coraz częściej materiały archiwalne istnieją od początku w formie cyfrowej. Dawniej przybierały jednak formy wydrukowanych książek, spisanych dokumentów itp. Rozwój technologii sprawia, że bardzo duża część archiwów dokonuje cyfryzacji swoich tradycyjnych zbiorów, m.in. w celu sprawniejszego udostępniania materiałów archiwalnych. Po nadaniu archiwaliom cyfrowej postaci, mogą być one rozpowszechniane na dużą skalę za pośrednictwem Internetu. Takie zabiegi nie są jednak często obojętne z punktu widzenia obowiązujących w danym państwie przepisów z zakresu prawa autorskiego. Czasami regulacje te przewidują zasady, na jakich może odbywać się digitalizacja. Problematyka, której dotyczy artykuł, jest bardzo szeroka. Dlatego też analizie poddano najważniejsze aspekty zagadnienia, mające praktyczny walor dla działalności archiwalnej. W artykule poruszono m.in. problem udostępniania materiałów w postaci cyfrowej. Odniesiono się do nowych przepisów, w tym z zakresu dzieł osieroconych. [The article presents the issue of digitization of archival materials, which is the transformation of their traditional form into a digital one. Currently, more and more archival materials are born in digital form. In the past, however, they were created especially as copies of printed books, written documents, etc. Due to the development of technology a large part of archives is digitalizing their traditional collections in order to make access to archival materials more efficient. Once the archives have been digitized, they can be made available on a large scale via the Internet. However, such activities are often not indifferent to the copyright law of a particular country. Sometimes these regulations provide certain rules under which digitization may take place. The problem addressed in the article is very broad. That is why the analysis covers the most important aspects of the issue which have practical value for archival policy. Some topics have been excluded. The article discusses, among others, the problem of making the materials available to the public in digital form. Reference is made to the new legislation, including that concerning orphan works. ]

The piece has a cylindrical shape and is made of black velvet. Due to wear and tear, the piece has suffered multiple degradations and restoration interventions are absolutely necessary. The piece has undergone cleaning, moisturising and emollient treatments as well as reinforcements of the silk inside, the ribbons and the metal tatting.

The organization of work over recent decades is moving towards the introduction of new and flexible forms of employment that give workers more freedom to pursue their profession. For the employer, these flexible working conditions offer the opportunity to keep in touch with their workers even outside working hours, communicating effectively with them and getting help from them wherever they are physically. The place where such work is done is beyond the traditional and official office space of the enterprise – for example at home, in cafes, restaurants, in nature, while waiting at the airport etc. The present publication outlines the main theoretical and legal provisions regarding the possibilities for work in the virtual space in Bulgaria. Recommendations have also been made on the methods for finding reliable remote work and the major challenges and problems with remote access work.

The article is an attempt to combine art therapy, especially fairy tale therapy, with narrative medicine. The text also constitutes an introduction to the concept of narrative art therapy proposed by the author. „Bibliotekarz” was the most important librarian journal in interwar Poland with a popular profile, addressed to a many number of librarians, mainly employed in educational libraries. It influenced the form, but most of all, the thematic content of the magazine. The article presents a wealth of contents discussed in the journal. The attention was paid to the articles, but also to texts within a small volume, but very important, especially in the historical perspective, informative value (bibliographic reviews, chronicle section). There were also characterized the main thematic units in the „Bibliotekarz” (bibliography, profession and training of librarians) were also characterized. „Bibliotekarz” as evidenced by the magazine, focused on the issues of Polish librarianship, was also open to foreign countries.

Biblioteka arcybiskupa ormiańskiego Józefa Teodorowicza: jej losy w czasie II wojny światowej i w latach powojennych

Archbishop Jozef Teodorowicz (1864–1938), Ordinary of the Armenian Archdiocese of Lviv, was a respected preacher, author of theological works and a patriot active in many areas of religious and social life in Poland. The hierarch amassed an impressive private library of several thousand volumes in Polish, Latin, German, French and other languages. The collection of old prints, including rare Armenianlanguage publications and manuscripts, was of particular value. The book collection constituted a workshop for the ambitious priest, preacher and writer, and later archbishop, as well as shaped his views on sociopolitical issues. The archbishop successively expanded and complemented the library’s resources throughout his life, keeping abreast of the book and antiquarian market both in Poland and abroad. The subject matter of the book collection varied. The largest group included religious publications, primarily representing various branches of theology: biblical studies, theology of spirituality, dogmatic theology, moral theology, liturgy, apologetics, and canon law. Several hundred works were devoted to the life of Jesus Christ, Mariology and hagiography. Interestingly, the authors of the theological works (mostly biblical commentaries) included representatives of various factions of Protestantism, Orthodox Christians and rabbis. J. Teodorowicz’s library also contained many publications of fiction by both Polish and foreign authors, as well as philosophical treatises, studies of Church history and general history, political science, culture, and art history. The book collection also included many works on psychology and the education and formation of youth. During World War II, the library of Archbishop J. Teodorowicz was fragmented and dispersed. Part of the collection was destroyed by Soviet soldiers quartered in the archbishop’s palace in Lviv, and the surviving books were deposited in 1940 at the Lviv branch of the Library of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (the former Ossoliński National Institute). Fragments of the preserved book collection are currently in several institutions in Ukraine and Poland.

Formy promowania czytelnictwa w kontekście kulturalno-społecznych funkcji biblioteki na przykładzie Przemyskiej Biblioteki Publicznej im. Ignacego Krasickiego

Contemporary public libraries are centers of social life, places of meeting and exchanging thoughts, which contribute to consolidating social bonds. In recent years, the changes in culture and education made librarians face new challenges and the development of information society brought changes to the image of library institutions. Libraries are changing, influenced by the environment and the needs of their users; they eliminate barriers, add alternative forms of cultural and educational activity to their offer, as well as performing communication and entertainment functions. In order to promote readership and develop reading culture they get involved in carrying out social and culture-making tasks. Also the Public Library in Przemyśl is following contemporary changes and development tendencies, contributing to the rich cultural and social history of Przemyśl. It cooperates with the local community, observes the needs of the users, creates information, educational and cultural offer, extending and diversifying it depending on the readers’ needs. The Library in Przemyśl consciously creates its image. It is an open institution which plays an important role in the cultural and social sphere of the town and region.
