Katalog rozpraw doktorskich i habilitacyjnych o bibliotekach kościelnych w Polsce za lata 1952-2012

In Poland, church libraries play an important role in the evangelization of the universal Church. The presented catalogue includes six habilitation dissertations and fifty seven PhD theses. The subject of interest were different types of libraries: chapter, cathedral, collegiate, parish, seminaries, of academic institutions, religious orders and congregations of men and women as well as clergy private collections and various library resources. The issuing bodies of the dissertations were nineteen faculties and thirteen higher education institutions. The doctoral advisors were thirty eight professors including fourteen clergymen and twenty four secular.

Kompetencje współczesnego wydawcy – założenia teoretyczne kontra opinie praktyków

The subject of the article are the competencies of the modern publisher, influenced by changes in the book market which occurred in the years 2000–2015. The aim is to compare theoretical assumptions presented in the literature with opinions of representatives of leading Polish publishing houses. While analyzing changes in competencies and the social role of publishers the following factors were taken into account: development of e-books and new forms of media, proliferation of the self-publishing phenomenon and the increasing popularity of the social media. In the first stage of the research, the analysis and critique of the literature method was used, in which a systematic review of literature published in the years 2000–2015 in Polish and English was done, in order to develop a theoretical model of the competencies and role of the modern publisher. Then the developed model was compared with the results of surveys conducted among Polish academic and fiction publishers. As a result, conclusions were drawn regarding the scope and forms of changes which took place in the book market under the influence of new media development.

QUESTIONING CONVENTIONS: ARE PRODUCT CONVENTIONS TRADING OFF THE USABILITY OF PRODUCTS FOR SHORT TERM USER SATISFACTION

Mapping conventions are a key aspect of user centered design as they present users with familiar interactions in unfamiliar products. Conventions evolve over time and are slow to be adopted, requiring a high percentage of acceptance within a society, ensuring that conventions exhibit a sufficient level of usability. However this paper argues that while usability is a necessary condition for good interactions it is not a sufficient one. Therefore user centered design which accents individuals bias towards conventions my in fact be hindering the innovation of product interactions. This paper argues that a cognitive approach should be adopted in order understand and reassess product interactions. An experiment was carried out that demonstrates the influence that simple mappings can have on cognitive load. The results showed that basic mappings of the types that are found throughout product conventions can have a substantial impact on mental load and subsequently product interaction.

EXTENSION OF THE FUZZY C MEANS CLUSTERING ALGORITHM TO FIT WITH THE COMPOSITE GRAPH MODEL FOR WEB DOCUMENT REPRESENTATION

Clustering techniques are mostly unsupervised methods that can be used to organize data into groups based on similarities among the individual data items. Fuzzy c-means (FCM) clustering is one of well known unsupervised clustering techniques, which can also be used for unsupervised web document clustering. In this chapter we will introduce a modified method of clustering where the data to be clustered will be represented by graphs instead of vectors or other models. Specifically, we will extend the classical FCM clustering algorithm to work with graphs that represent web documents [1,2,3]. We wish to use graphs because they can allow us to retain information which is often discarded in simpler models.

M-LEARNING - A NEW FORM OF LEARNING AND EDUCATION

At each step, the Internet and information technologies are changing many aspects of life. We live; we buy, work, manage, and communicate new ways that technology has enabled. Information and communication technology are pervasive the technology of today. It finds application in every branch of industry, and in all areas of education and the basis for the successful operation of all social and state structures. Information and communication technology (ICT) provides a good foundation for creative and effective use of knowledge. Using mobile technology in education changes the basic view of learning when, where and how to learn. M-learning is a unique type of learning because students can access the lessons anytime, anywhere. Mobile learning is learning supported by mobile devices. It represents a new form of education. The notion of mobile learning covers a wide range of devices used for learning at any place at any time. These include various wired and wireless devices (mobile phones, PDA, iPod, Sony PSP, notebook devices...). M-learning offers the possibility of using mobile devices combine many benefits of e-learning in a single portable package that can be used at any time and anywhere using mobile devices. Mobile devices are emerging as one of the most promising technologies to support learning as they offer new opportunities that do not offer static devices.

Bibliotekarska działalność księdza Władysława Grochala

The article has been written on the occasion of Golden Priestly Jubilee of Rev. Władysław Grochal SDB – the long-term director of the Library of Higher Theological Seminary of the Salesian Society in Ląd by the river Warta. From the perspective of years it must be admitted that not only has Rev. Grochala been organizing the work of the seminar library in post-Cistercian monastery in Ląd but also has been its faithful and committed employee. The author describes other activities undertaken by Rev. Grochala: custody of Acta Hlondiana collection, involvement in action of Salesian Spirituality Center in Ląd and his pastoral service as well.

„Fides. Biuletyn Bibliotek Kościelnych” – młodszy brat pisma „Archiwa, Biblioteki i Muzea Kościelne”

The semi-annual „Archiwa, Biblioteki i Muzea Kościelne” was established in 1959 as a journal of the Institute of Church Archives, Libraries and Museums. Its aim is to integrate church scientific communities that deals with culture and its collections. The materials published in the journal concern mainly three fields: archive studies, library science and museology. The founder and long-term editor-in-chief (until 1991) was Rev. Stanisław Librowski, who released sixty volumes.Since its foundation the Institute of Church Archives, Libraries and Museums has been organising training courses and scientific sessions related, among other fields to library issues. The reports and materials from these conferences have been published in „Archiwa, Biblioteki i Muzea Kościelne”. During conference meetings in the 1980s an idea of closer church libraries cooperation was born. Its purpose was an efficient realisation of the most important tasks that church libraries faced including their computerization. In 1991 from the initiative of Rev. Krzysztof Gonet and church libraries the Federation of the Church Libraries FIDES was established. It was officially registered by state authorities and approved by Catholic Church in 1995. At the same year the Federation commenced publishing the semi-annual titled „Fides. Biuletyn Bibliotek Kościelnych” that integrates federation libraries and serves an educational, documentative and informative role.The first editor-in-chief of „Fides. Biuletyn Bibliotek Kościelnych” in the years 1995-2012 was Rev. Jan Bednarczyk from the Library of Pontifical University of John Paul II in Cracow. After his resignation, Bogumiła Warząchowska from the Theological Library of University of Silesia in Katowice, took over editing the journal.

The article presents short report on the seminary library of Lviv Archdiocese which now belongs to the Theological Institute named after St. Józef Bilczewski at Lviv Archdiocese of Latin Rite. Brief historical introduction of the Lviv Archdiocese Seminary and its library has been discussed. Then, in the context of reactivation of Lviv Archdiocese after years of Communist regime, history of its Metropolitan Seminary, Theological Institute and the library has been shown. The library constantly expands. It plays an irreplaceable role in formation of next generations of theologians: priests, members of monastic orders and laity studying at the Theological Institute.

Współczesność bibliotek parafialnych Rzeszowa

Parish libraries belong to the broad group of church libraries. Their characteristic feature in the modern world is the openness to the lay readers. The main task of parish libraries in the local community is to cultivate faith and Christian culture hence the distinctive range of collections. Currently there are ten libraries of this type in Rzeszów. The collections are relatively few in number including books, newspapers and movies mostly with religious themes. The interest and the number of readers is rather small therefore a noticeable decrease in the number of parish libraries in Rzeszow has been observed in recent years.

Generally, an induction heating is a contactless method of generating the heat in a magnetically conductive work piece assembly by inducing eddy current losses in the work piece from an extend high-frequency alternating magnetic field, which is composed of the high-frequency inverters using gate controlled power switching devices MOS or IGBT modules. This is a convenient induction heating category in electrical heat processing because of its ready-availability, precision temperature rise, flexibility, cleanliness, speed of response, safety, compactness in size, and ease of control. Technologies proposed by the authors have attracted special interest in the fields of industrial, medical, chemical and consumer heat energy processing utilizations in the pipeline systems.

REMONT BIBLIOTEKI SEMINARYJNEJ WE WŁOCŁAWKU

Żadna szkoła, placówka kulturalno-oświatowa, a tym bardziej szkoła wyższa nie może prawidłowo funkcjonować bez dobrze wyposażonej biblioteki. Po założeniu przez biskupa włocławskiego (kujawsko-pomorskiego) Stanisława Karnkowskiego seminarium duchownego we Włocławku w 1569 roku zaistniała konieczność przygotowania i wyposażenia biblioteki seminaryjnej. Początkowo zasoby seminaryjnej książnicy były bardzo skromne. Rozwijająca się stopniowo od XVII wieku biblioteka seminarium we Włocławku powiększyła znacznie swe zasoby przez włączenie w drugiej połowie XIX wieku księgozbiorów po skasowanych przez zaborców rosyjskich klasztorach na terenie diecezji włocławskiej.
