Summary/Abstract: The development of the crime with regard to the new types of criminal activities and new „modus operandies“ used by the criminals is the contemporary challenge for the law enforcement organisations at national and international level. The natural response of the above mentioned trend are the new methods and instruments which are used by the competent authorities for efficient combating the crime. The open-source-intelligence could be used as a tool for countering the crime. The subject of the article is to describe some popular tools, sources and methods for open-source-intelligence and bring examples for their possible practical use and implementation by the competent authorities.
