The University of library studies and information technologies (ULSIT) carried out on 19 of May 2023 in an exceptional official character and in presence of scientists from all fields of informatization in Bulgaria, vast public and institutions from the country and abroad its annual Day of the Open doors with more than 300 participants – delegates and guests. In the article the status of Ukrainian bibliological research and its main characteristics throught the last two decades, i.e. since the beginning of the 21st century, are presented. The main centres, scientifi c schools, problematics of research, contribution of particular scientists in the development of bibliology and certain bibliologic disciplines are defi ned. The author discusses main trends of bibliological research at the V.I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine as a main scientifi c institution in the fi eld of bibliology and particular bibliologic disciplines: codicology, book monument studies, history of book culture, expertise of rare books, research of historical library collections.

On the occasion of the 170th anniversary of the Bulgarian bibliography, a brief historical review of its overall development is made – from its inception to the present day. Four periods are historically substantiated. The first is named The Beginning and is located in the range 1852–1885. The second is qualified Modernization and develops between 1885–1941, more specifically until 1944, the year during which the entire socio-political and spiritual system in Bulgaria was generally transformed on the foundations of socialism. The third stage is characterized as the period of Maturity, located in the years 1944 – 1989. This periodization was made by the author for the first time in her report, read at the jubilee scientific conference, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the Bulgarian bibliography on the topic: “The Bulgarian bibliography of 150 years”. In the present article, Prof. D. Pravdomirova, who has established herself as a consistent historian of the domestic bibliography, completes her vision of the most important characteristics and events of each stage, but in her conclusion she brings out for the first time the names of five bibliographers, namely Acad. Al. Teodorov-Balan, Academician N. Mihov, Dr. M. Stoyanov, Associate Professor Dr. D. Ivanchev and Prof. DSc V. Traikov and defines them as the colossi of the overall history of Bulgarian bibliography. She justifiably compares them with the world-famous bibliographers of the highest rank from the first half of the 20th century – the English scientist, bibliographer and publicist Theodore Besterman and the Russian librarian, bibliologist and bibliographer, the founder of bibliopsychology N. A. Rubakin.Today, 20 years later, the author maintains her position on the three categorized periods and defines the period after 1989 as the Electronic Bibliography Period, but does not analyze it, as it is in its initial process and does not have sufficient historical distance. Along with the five colossi, the author ranks the famous Prof. Todor Borov – the first Bulgarian professional bibliographer, the first professor of bibliography – the inspiration and leader of the bibliographic process from the beginning of the 30s to the beginning of the 60s of the last century, but his contributions are with another dimension, in another connotation of bibliographic achievements, namely spiritual leadership.

The monograph Innovative Design and Experimental Structures in Victorian Design Binding (1800–1900) – Technology and Conservation of Relievo Papier-mâché Binding by Owen Jones for The Psalms of David. The Victoria Psalter, published by Sofia University Press, is the first complete theoretical study of the complex conservation treatment of the album The Psalms of David, designed by Owen Jones in 1861, and currently part of the Ryerson & Burnham Libraries special collections at The Art Institute of Chicago. Dr. Malina Belcheva’s research of The Psalms of David technology focuses on the relievo papier-mâché binding and the text block structure of the book, and reveals a broad and comprehensive analysis of bookbinding materials, techniques, typography, paper and leather technology, provides an overview of prior conservation treatments. Dr. Belcheva studies the history of The Psalms of David from the Victorian era to the present, and describes the reinforced conservation binding model, created for the reconstruction of the album‘s flexibility and solidity. The author illustrates the binding conservation process, through conservation research, documentation, diagrams, tables and documentary photographs. Thus, the monograph lays emphasis on the uniqueness of the latest album restoration, carried out in accordance with the characteristic features of the album, and the structural changes, made in the past two centuries.

The articlefocuses on the problematic management aspects of valuable private libraries in an institutional environment. The presented model contains six key elements, which track the processes from the donation (acquisition) of private collections to their differentiation as a specific distinguishable resource in the library. The usage of the model in the professional practice of Bulgarian libraries would help the efficient presentation and preservation of valuable collections. This article is based on research conducted for the purposes of the author’s dissertation “Тhe private library of the Bulgarian intelectual as a research subject in the field of Library studies and Book history (1878–1944): historical and theorеtical aspects”.

With long-term storage of paper documents, irreversible changes in properties and quality occur. Aging of paper is a process with a change in its chemical composition and a decrease in its mechanical strength. As the paper ages, the fibers become brittle and fragile. Some types of paper, especially those with a high wood content, are of low durability due to their high lignin content. Lignin oxidizes, changes and the paper becomes brittle and yellow. The aim of the present work is to study and apply different methods of deacedification and neutralization of acidity on paper objects.

An overview of audiobooks in their contemporary vision is made. The beginning of their development and history are traced throughout, as well as their improvement over the years worldwide and in Bulgaria. Audiobooks in their initial form were seen as an essential human need as of mouth-to-mouth communication. With the inventing of the first sound recording machine, modernization began as a process of sound books, which have not stopped their development to this day. They are becoming more and more popular every day and this is causing the emergence of various online platforms and communities.

The projection is made for the road of institution of the bibliography in Bulgaria in 1918 (А. Teodorov-Balan, Nikolai Nikolaev, Todor Borov). It is revealed the missionary donor’s deed for this bibliographic institution: 1938 (Tsvetana Sabeva Rasheva-Tserovska). It is reported the building and the culmination of the Bulgarian Bibliographical Institute (1941–1963) as an avant–poste of the universal informatization. Are described the glory and the martyrdom of Bulgarian bibliography during this time.

Todor Borov's scientific and organizational activity is crucial for the creation and development of the national bibliography of Bulgaria as a modern system of bulletins, which not only registers the national publishing production, but also performs cultural-historical, documentary and informational functions. In recent years, the perception of the task and role of libraries in the local environment, their place in the cultural, scientific, educational and information infrastructure, their role in political life, the development of democracy, economy and the formation of the global information space has changed a lot. The library is increasingly emerging as an organizer of programs and activities that are not just related to the book. On their own, they cannot accomplish all the numerous tasks that the environment expects, so partnership and cooperation with other institutions and organizations is needed to provide the necessary services to their increasingly demanding users. The article presents attempts to establish partnerships of the “Detko Petrov” Library in Tsaribrod with the Ombudsman of the Republic of Serbia, with local institutions and media and non-governmental organizations and the importance of these partnerships for both the library and the local multicultural community.

It is a real rarity for an animated films workshop to be part of a public library's activities. This is exactly the privilege of the young people from Nis, who since 2005, under the watchful eye of the instructor of the Studio for Animated Films'98, have managed to enjoy mastering the technique of moving pictures and to create their first cartoons in the reading room of the Children's Department. The article describes the functioning of this workshop, through which several hundred students from the upper grades of primary schools and children from secondary schools have passed so far. Thanks to this program, many participants chose art for their future profession. We often organize professional gatherings dedicated to the problems of young people: how to arouse their interest in reading and the library, as well as how to create conditions, creatively and constructively, for them to use their free time in the library. One solution is the animated film workshop as an example of proven good practice.

However, data security remains a significant challenge for cultural enti-ties such as libraries and museums, as hackers can target database systems and gain access to sensitive information. This study examines the benefits and security issues associated with big data analytics and proposes a manual approach for analyzing data with application to digital presentation and preservation of cultural heritage. By providing insights into the strengths and weaknesses of big data analytics and exploring strategies for securing data, the goal of the research is to help organizations make informed decisions about their data management practices.
