Summary/Abstract: The article summarises the initial results from an evidence-based study which is exploring the response to the COVID-19 pandemic of the library sectors in Qatar. The methodology of this study is based on the uses of content analysis from the contents of websites, press publications, social media and official statements mostly in English and Arabic. These materials are analysed using NVivo. Although this study captures only data from the two initial months of the library closures (mid-March 2020–mid May 2020), some notable trends are showing which library services are most visible in the conditions of self-isolation and social distancing. The article also includes a model for analysing the potential for transforming library services in the spirit of digital transformation. The stressful social isolation can be seen as a catalyst for the digital transformation of libraries. This model can be a helpful tool in the process of identifying institutional priorities for digital transformation.
