Modern Management in the Era of Globalization – An Indicator for Dynamic Society

Modern Management in the Era of Globalization – An Indicator for Dynamic Society

Author(s): Mirko Tripunoski,Fisnik Ferati,Borche Sibinovski / Language(s): English Publication Year: 0

In a modern-global world, the role of the organization is performed by working in a business environment which is a complex structure made up of internal and external elements. Today the functioning and the performances of the organizations are determined by the modern business environment. The information about the trends and the characteristics of today's global business environment are the starting point in the process of decision-making and achieving goals. Through frequent and systematic exploration of the environment, organizations identify their internal strengths and weaknesses as well as external opportunities and threats. By using the information available, the organizations strive to activate their power effectively, thus eliminating the weaknesses and seizing the opportunities, avoiding the obstacles and the external threats. Modern business environment nowadays is changing constantly and rapidly by exposing the organizations to new challenges, such as global competition, rapid technological development, demographic changes, diversification of the workforce and many others. We are witnesses of today’s global economic crisis and the negative consequences it has on all national economies, as well as many organizations, both national and multinational. Within modern dynamic society, the organizations must adapt to the global changes and conditions in this turbulent business environment, because both their success and their existence are depending on it. It is therefore required to apply the modern management practices in the organizations and use the new organizational forms and structural solutions, which are flexible enough as well as adaptable. Modern organizations today are continuously exposed to changes and are increasingly losing the traditional pyramid structure at the expense of the horizontal one. Regardless of the constant changes and challenges, the main bearers of all activities in the business environment are still the humans. With their knowledge, skills and abilities they are an important factor for the implementation and development of the modern management practices.

As business is becoming more and more globalized, there is a necessity for more global managers, who act globally, that do not merely deal with the professional goals, but also with the cultural differences and the human interactions at the workplace; they need to keep under control the cultural differences. Managing i.e. governing the employees from different cultural backgrounds means that they should keep pace with the production. Managing the differences of the cultures in different environments in which they work requires a great deal of pressure over them which is why it is necessary to develop certain qualities in order to be a successful change manager. Author(s): Aleksandra Pejatović,Miomir Despotović / Language(s): English Publication Year: 0

We have placed our understanding of knowledge society between the conception of seeing it as a real existing society and the conception of the ideal society we strive for. In the context of knowledge society, the responses of education and training to the needs arising from the influence of contemporary characteristics of the world of work have been considered. The analysis shows that, in parallel with the changes in the world of work, there are also changes occurring in education, that is, the creation of education and training inherent in knowledge society occurs through the process of meeting the needs for learning and knowledge.

The European Capital of Culture Programme and Sustainable Development in a Cross-border Region Case Study

Author(s): Ilie Rădoi / Language(s): English Publication Year: 0

For the first time since 1985, the title of ECoC for 2021 had been won by two cities being so close from a geographical point of view. It is a great opportunity for Timișoara and Novi Sad to shape together a region of culture and, meanwhile, to boost cooperation at European and international level. Sustainability is also about a cultural dimension, which has to do with cultural diversity, the cultural vibrancy of a place, cooperation and with preserving and promoting cultural heritage. The purpose of this paper is to identify cultural mechanisms, tools and models that support sustainability in a cross-border region, in the context of ECoC programme. The ultimate goal is to make the local population from Timișoara and Novi Sad surroundings aware of the cultural diversity in Europe and to increase cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.

Силни и слаби страни на конкурентоспособността на българското стопанство

Author(s): Maria Marikina / Language(s): Bulgarian Publication Year: 0

Competitiveness is an actual and important issue of economic theory and practice. It is a challenge to highlight the current understanding of her, to present and analyze the spectrum of factors underlying her, and to reveal opportunities for implementing policies to manage. The report presents a survey at the macroeconomic level, and the object of the surveys is the competitiveness of the Bulgarian economy. The scientifi c community has an interest in such an understanding, but it would be a good study to explore the strengths and weaknesses of the competitiveness that is the subject of the study. The aim is to make them systematized and serve as a reference for the most appropriate policy. In order to achieve this, the following tasks are envisaged: 1) Identifying and analyzing the essence and basic concepts of the competitiveness ategory at macro level. 2) Analyzing the current competitiveness in Bulgaria. 3) Assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the competitiveness of the Bulgarian economy.4) To formulate conclusions and recommendations for our national competitiveness and possible policy decisions.

Author(s): Kristian Hadjiev / Language(s): Bulgarian Publication Year: 0

Fundamental factors related to the evolutionary development and functioning of virtual teams have been researched. The context, the prerequisites, the essential characteristics, the advantages and disadvantages of the virtual teams are analyzed in detail. Based on theoretical monitoring, different forms of virtuality, types of virtual teams and typology are defi ned. The reasons for the implementation of virtual teams in organizational practice are explored. Two fundamental factors are identifi ed: globalization and the development of new ICT. The result is the integration of virtual teams into the organizational infrastructure as a tool for managing change and achieving new levels of effi ciency and competitiveness in highly uncertain environments. Effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on sport, video game, and tourism industry. Sentiment analysis of press, internet articles, and Twitter data

Effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on sport, video game, and tourism industry. Sentiment analysis of press, internet articles, and Twitter data

Author(s): Łukasz Bryl,Justyna Majewska,Szymon Truskolaski / Language(s): English Publication Year: 0

Purpose: The chapter examines the extent and level of the pandemic impact on sport, video game, and tourism industry by analyzing the emotional narration of articles related to Covid-19 effects on these industries so as to assess and predict the situation of industries during the pandemic and in the following years, but also to explain sources of positive sentiment for a given industry. Design/methodology/approach: The study provides a sentiment analysis of the global disclosure of the Covid-19 pandemic in the press, online articles, and social media (Twitter) with the use of three independent R packages. The final sample consisted of 142 articles; the oldest was published on January 23, 2020, whereas the newest one on October 14, 2020. Findings: Sentiment analysis revealed that the emotional tinge of the articles is much more positive for video games and soccer than in the case of tourism. In the case of video games and soccer, positive emotions such as “trust” or “anticipation” prevailed over much more common emotions of “fear” and “sadness” used about tourism. The impact of the pandemic was similar for video games and soccer, which was a mixture of negative and positive events. Research limitations/implications: Further research should use other resources such as the mass media or other data sources in addition to social media information and include a long-term analysis divided into stages of the pandemic as reactions and moods have been changing over time. Moreover, the factors influencing the perception of situations in different sectors of the economy should be identified in future research. Practical implications: The use of sentiment analysis shows that such quantification may be performed for new social phenomena before any hard (e.g., financial) data are available. Social implications: An approximation was obtained for quantifying the societal “general feeling” with regards to specific sectors affected by the pandemic. Originality and value: The chapter compares the response to the pandemic crisis of different sectors that reveal the sentiment contributing to the growth or difficulties of a given industry. The use of sentiment analysis enabled us to assess and predict the situation of industries during the pandemic before the hard and comprehensive data will occur.
