„Miłość czynna” Caritas urzeczywistniana w działalności społecznej Polskiej Misji Katolickiej w Szwecji

„Miłość czynna” Caritas urzeczywistniana w działalności społecznej Polskiej Misji Katolickiej w Szwecji

Author(s): Mariusz Chamarczuk / Language(s): / Issue: 1/2005

Christianity demands actions which are an approval and guarantee of the autenticity of its deepest content and meaning. The Christian humanism may be realized in life in no other way then by considering the man in all his dimensions, also the dimension of his basic needs for material things indispensable for a dignified life, needs that often can only be satisfied thanks to the help from other people or institutions. The above article is a presentation of the charitable works of Polish Catholic Mission in Sweden, who apart from its pastoral mission that is carried out among polish emigrants, is also engaged in showing active love, Caritas, through collaboration with differ- ent organizations, foundations, orders, hospitals, schools and individual people. It's an activity that confirms the thesis that mature Christianity demands to be fulfilled through commitment to helping people in need, since it is a common imperative that has its source in the Christian values.

„Miotełki” z melodramy

„Miotełki” z melodramy "Chłop Milionowy" jako warszawski fenomen społeczno-kulturowy

Author(s): Łukasz Kożuchowski / Language(s): Polish / Issue: 2/2018

The main goal of the article is to shed some light on the social phenomenon known as “Miotełki” (“The Little Brooms”), which gained popularity in the 20’s and 30’s of the 19th-century Warsaw. ”Miotełki” was a term used to address songs originating from Chłop Milionowy (The Peasant as a Millionaire), an extraordinarily popular contemporary melodrama. The first performer of these songs was Jan Nowakowski, a well-liked actor of the National Theatre in Warsaw. The article shows the rising popularity of ”Miotełki” and concentrates on their role as a sociocultural phenomenon. The songs managed to transcend social class barriers – from mentions in magazines and well-educated conversations to serving as simple people’s catchy tunes. The fame of “Miotełki”’s lasted until the November Insurrection, during which they evolved from representing the everyday life slightly ironically and in an entertaining way to serving as a tool of patriotic propaganda. That very fact is considered to be what we would call today an example of fan culture. The article also focuses on the themes that appeared in in the songs, such as a deep respect for family or the affirmation of social divisions, all of which contributed to their success as being important to the inhabitants of Warsaw.

„Młodości! ty nad poziomy wylatuj”. Szkice do portretu młodego naukowca w mediach

Author(s): Małgorzata Łosiewicz,Anna Ryłko-Kurpiewska / Language(s): Polish / Issue: 39/2017

THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The research problem lies in presentation of various criteria for perception of youth and the way in which they are applied under the research done on the image of a young researcher in media. Among the employed research methods quantitative surveys, corpus analysis and – as a back-up – comparative analysis of statistical data and results of secondary research must be named. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The argumentation is divided into three parts. Part one aims at showing specific features of perception of the category of youth, as exemplified by public opinion polls and analysis of statistical data. Further on, the authors indicate who is referred to as a young researcher in the field of science and higher education. Part three of the argumentation is focused on particular features of presentation of young researchers in media. RESEARCH RESULTS: The paper presents the authors’ original classification of portraits of young researchers in media. The diversity of the presented groups provides a clear proof of the inaccuracies and inconsistencies in using the concept of a “young researcher.” CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: The term “young researcher,” as appearing in media messages, is used without any reference to statutory guidelines. It often bears a promotional character, when used to denote persons from even younger age groups participating in undertakings from a broadly termed area of science or education. And thus the creation of an original classification of portraits of a young researcher in media, based on an analysis of Internet messages and press/TV/radio statements taken comparatively, seems to be an innovative measure. The authors suggest that the term be used in marketing communication to enhance the evaluative function towards persons not falling within the scope of the statutory definition of a young researcher.

„Młodzi na progu” – propozycja kerygmatyczno-mistagogicznego przygotowania do sakramentu bierzmowania

Author(s): Jan Kochel / Language(s): Polish / Issue: 24/2017

Initiatory catechesis includes different forms of teaching and upbringing leading to the preparation for receiving the sacraments of Christian initiation. This type of catechesis is realized by the programme Youth on the threshold as material for work with young people preparing in their parish for the sacrament of confirmation. It is a unique way of answering the question: How to help the confirmands remain in the Church and be the Church? A crucial purpose of the programme is to encourage the members of formative meetings to work on their own human development, both intellectual and spiritual. In this programme, the most dominant are existential, kerygmatic and mystagogic aspects, which means it arouses faith and tries to accompany young people in their preparation for receiving the sacrament. Contemporary catechesis should be the catechesis of life which “not only gives ideas but also accompanies us in our pilgrimage” (Francis, Evangelii gaudium, 156–175).

„Múlttá lett jövőm” Az öregedéshez vezető lelki folyamat néhány jellemzőjéről

Author(s): Emőke Bagdy / Language(s): Hungarian / Issue: 3/2005

The author, a psychologist, surveys typical features of aging from a psychological point of view. Following Erik Erikson´s developmental crisis theory she examines one by one the problems that arise with the successive changes of life phases. Besides theoretical considerations – Jung, Maslow, Frankl, Satir – the essay also deals with personal experiences as well as portrayals of aging in literature. The crisis of old age is described as an identity crisis: a quest for integrity in which one has to struggle with problems of alienation and emotional closure. A possible solution can be to remain active and creative, which also includes facing final questions. In this way, old age can bring a qualitative change and reveal its own values.

„Musų Lietuva” czy „Nasza Litwa”? Retoryka dwóch nacjonalizmów na łamach czasopism o Litwie wydawanych przed I wojną światową

Author(s): Anita Magowska / Language(s): Polish / Issue: 4 (220)/2014

The article focuses on the beginning of nationalistic rhetoric in Polish and Lithuanian journals published in 1883–1914. The contents and formal features of nationalistic journals published in Polish: Litwa (1908–1914), Kwartalnik Litewski (1910–1911), and Litwa i Ruś (1912–1913), were analyzed. Journals published in Lithuanian: Aušra (1883–1996), Šviesa (1887–1888, 1890) and Varpas (1889–1905) were described on the basis of reviews in the St. Petersburg journal Kraj.It was concluded that the Lithuanian national movement was infl uenced by some European ideological tendencies but the social changes, after the failure of the January’s Uprising, were its important inspirations as well. After fi nancial stabilization, Lithuanian migrants to the West, the most of them political refugees, supported Lithuanian nationalistic organizations. Their journals and program were addressed to a newly created Lithuanian middle class, more active than the Polish one at the time. The journals about Lithuania, edited by the Polish minority in Lithuania as its response to the Lithuanian nationalistic periodicals, were more elitist and provoked little interest of the Polish society.

„My jeździmy do Polski, bo my tam mamy wspomnienia”: o pamięci Ukraińców z Polski w Kanadzie. Komunikat z badań terenowych

Author(s): Patrycja Trzeszczyńska / Language(s): Polish / Issue: 3/2014

The paper is a report from anthropological fieldwork research carried out in Canada between March and September of 2014. My aim was to recognize the shape and content of social and cultural memory of Ukrainian Canadians, born in Poland, who emigrated to Canada in 1980s. They live in Edmonton and Toronto among other members of Ukrainian diaspora: descendants of Alberta pioneers, interwar period immigrants, displaced persons, Ukrainians from Ukraine and former Yugoslavia. Their memories concerning local Ukrainian history in Poland encounters institutionalized, well designed project of Ukrainian cultural memory in Canada. Actual situation in Ukraine (Euromaydan, Crimea annexation, civil war in the Donbas region) updates the memory and identity questions of Ukrainian diaspora in Canada in general and makes answers even more complicated for the Ukrainians born in Poland.

Author(s): Przemysław Dudziński,Dawid Głownia,Radosław Pisula,Michał Wolski / Language(s): Polish / Issue: 14/2014

The tension between Soviet Union and United States that defined the global political landscape of the second half of the twentieth century, had its clear impact on perceptions and creation of Soviet heroes in the context of American culture. The first and primary goal of our article is to investigate and describe the functioning of a particular theme – Russian characters, especially Russian meta-humans in the area of American popular culture, especially mainstream comics. This inquiry is intended to demonstrate the basic historical dimension, i.e. the periods of growth and decline in popularity, and even the complete disappearance of that theme. The purpose of the second goal is an attempt to analyze the structures of comics characters associated with the Soviet Union and place them in a broader historical and cultural context. These treatments allow to signal changes in time-sensitive structure, which consists of values, stereotypes and pop culture clichés appropriate for the American culture. Thus, we hope that this article will be an important contribution to the further study of these issues.

„Na przekór przeciwnościom losu” — jak wzmacniać reziliencję dzieci z rodzin z problemem alkoholowym

Author(s): Wioletta Junik / Language(s): Polish / Issue: 34 (1)/2010

This article pays attention to the need of changing, a very popular in Polish pedagogical theory and practice preventive approach, which focuses on diagnosing and eliminating the influence of risk factors that are threatening for children and teenagers. In Polish schools there is a lack of positive preventive practice effects, based on strength and recourses of children, especially for children from the families with alcohol problems. The number of children coming from this kind of families is the biggest in the population of threatened children. As for the children, using the idea of resiliency would be especially promising for designing preventive effects having the character of positive prevention. This conception explains how it is possible to support the process of coping with adversities, achieving additional protection by an individual, developing the skills of coping with disruptions resulting from a stressful event.

„Na skraju jutra”. Kino a przyszłość gier komputerowych

Author(s): Mikołaj Marcela / Language(s): Polish / Issue: 02/2015

In the field of game theory, a heated dispute is ongoing between narratologists and game theory researchers. The latter believe that computer games as a medium differ significantly from narrative media, and that there is a direct conflict between the demands of the story, and what the game demands. In games, the storyline is of secondary importance, but it is important to take up challenges and the trial and error mechanisms related to them which engage us as players. The same mechanism, in turn, paralyzes the passage of time and blocks the progression of the narrative. In this context, the movie "Edge of Tomorrow", inspired by video games, seems very interesting. The film shows how elements can be used which according to game studies researchers prevent the study of games as a narrative, to create a remarkable and consistent narrative.

„Nakaz milczenia” dla ks. Adama Bonieckiego. Sytuacje kryzysowe i strategie wyłączenia z dyskursu na styku Kościół–sfera publiczna

Author(s): Adam Warzecha / Language(s): Polish / Issue: 30/2018

The limitations of appearance in the media on Fr. Adam Boniecki MIC was imposed twice, in 2011 and 2017, which caused crisis situations (media conflicts) at the interface between the Church–public sphere in Poland. The aim of this study was to determine the communication mechanisms and discursive strategies employed at that time. In the analysis, the sociolinguistic conceptual apparatus combining Public Relations and Critical Discourse Analysis was applied. The processoriented case study showed that mainly one-way asymmetric communication was adapted, which was manifested, i.a., in using scandalization mechanisms. Moreover, in the stylistic figures applied, meaning shifts were made, as a result of which the reasons and bases of the decisions made were not clearly communicated, which adversely affected the relations. The analysis also showed the symptoms of the hegemonisation of religious discourse by the political.

„Nasz elementarz” – krótki opis daru, który zubaża obdarowanych

Author(s): Dorota Klus-Stańska / Language(s): / Issue: 4 (27)/2014

The text is a critical analysis of the assumptions and content of “Nasz elementarz”, a textbook for the first grade of the primary school which has been promoted by the Ministry of Education. An overt attempt at the unification, control, and limiting of the development space of the youngest pupils has been indicated. Two theoretical perspectives have been adopted for the analysis: constructivism and the Foucauldian concept of normalizing discourse. The discourses underlying the textbook, which are permeated by relations of oppressive power over children, have been identified: the discourse of the child (infantile child discourse), of childhood (closed and colourless childhood discourse), and of knowledge (limited knowledge discourse).

„Nauczyciel jest takim troszeczkę dozorcą” – koncepcyjne i metodyczne nieporozumienia wokół pracy grupowej w klasie szkolnej

Author(s): Małgorzata Pilecka / Language(s): Polish / Issue: 3 (22)/2013

The article concerns a current issue of children’s group work in Polish primary schools. The author collates the original assumptions of this teaching method with its practical use in Polish elementary classes, based on collected data. The qualitative interviews, held from January to May 2013, resulted in getting a worrying overview of the place of group work in Polish schools. Although the interviewed teachers do know a lot about the theory of children’s group work and do rather appreciate the positive effects of this kind of teaching/learning, their statements reveal their fear and distrust of the method. Group work seems to be neglected or just avoided – but even if it occurs, the teachers are not able to ensure favourable work conditions (such as a creative task or a thought-provoking topic).

„Nekem állandóan fegyelmeznem kell” a pedagógusi karakterek egy lehetséges hipotetikus modellje

Author(s): Rita Diána Kósa / Language(s): Hungarian / Issue: 4/2017

How discipline the teachers in the primary schools in Hungary? How should they discipline to meet the expectations, values and norms of our society? According to my research, in today’s primary schools there are significant differences between discipline and conflict management.I analyse the differences and I set the behavior patterns of the teachers into three distinct types. These three characters are controlled from traditions, outside and inside. These three types are distinctly distinct in everyday life of schools, with different effects on students’ socialization. In this paper, I present this hypothetical model, its operation in the dimension of discipline. The interviews that underlie the analysis were prepared by village teachers teaching in the Vásárosnamény micro-region.

„Nie jesteśmy nomadami”. Przestrzeń francuskich przedmieść i tożsamość potomków imigrantów

Author(s): Małgorzata Kamecka / Language(s): Polish / Issue: 09/2016

The thesis of a symbolic significance of space for a particular community underscores the integrating role of place as a cultural value. The author analyses the connection between the space of French suburbs and the identity of their inhabitants, especially those of immigrant extraction. Therefore, she refers to selected texts of the rich output of French hip-hop artists. She places the pieces in the context of the responds given the French of immigrant roots surveyed in 2003. The analysis of the works of the French rappers demonstrates that their texts express a strong identity with the place of origin and residence built on cultural separateness and, simultaneously, on a strong feeling of social homogeneity of the quarter, which is an additional integrating factor.

„Nie tyle reportaż, ile wyznanie miłości” – o tendencji do idealizowania kultury gruzińskiej we współczesnym polskim reportażu podróżniczym

Author(s): Iwona Massaka / Language(s): Polish / Issue: XXIV/2019

“Not so much reportage as confession of love” – about the tendency to idealize Georgian culture in contemporary Polish travel reportage After 2008, Georgian culture has become the subject of many Polish travel reportages. It is idealized, resulting from the need to reproduce the myth of PolishGeorgian friendship. This myth arose from Russophobia existing in Poland and Georgia. Two of the three narratives studied are strongly Russophobic. The analysis of the content of the reports was carried out in reference to the model of cultural differences by G. Hofstede.
