Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to broaden the knowledge of the selection and the use of literature applied in the education and therapy of children and young people. The text is addressed to teachers, educators, librarians, pedagogues and psychologists who want to develop skills of independent conducting classes with elements of bibliotherapy and to learn the value of reading (not only school) in work with students with special educational and reading needs. The author, referring to the statements of candidates for the teaching profession, draws attention to the therapeutic value of literature. She also encourages independent search and selection of various texts for students who are reluctant to read, students with dyslexia, ADHD and for people with disabilities, chronically ill and struggling with various problems and fears.
