KSIĘGOZBIÓR KSAWEREGO DZIAŁYŃSKIEGO. CHARAKTERYSTYKA INWENTARZA

Author(s): Edyta Bątkiewicz-Szymanowska,Magdalena Marcinkowska / Language(s): Polish Issue: 35/2018

The article presents a manner of the collection of sources for the history of towns whose records have been lost. However, Krajenka, a former town of nobility, has archival materials that were introduced to the property records mainly kept in the Kórnik Library and the State Archives in Poznan. The surviving lists of tax dues (hearth tax, poll tax) also facilitate the description of Krajenka’s past.

OGÓLNA CHARAKTERYSTYKA ORAZ DZIEJE RĘKOPISU „DIGESTUM VETUS CUM GLOSSIS” ZE ZBIORÓW BIBLIOTEKI KÓRNICKIEJ

Author(s): Wojciech Baran-Kozłowski / Language(s): Polish Issue: 34/2017

The collections of the PAN Kórnik Library include one of the most interesting illuminated manuscripts of “Digestum vetus” made at the request of Emperor Justinian. The manuscript is marked by a very rich iconographic programme including 25 figurative initials and more than 230 marginal illustrations. Both types of image excellently correlate with the text of the legal manuscript and the marginal illustrations constitute a visual commentary to it. The manuscript contains a commentary by Accursius (Glossa ordinaria) as well as many earlier pre-accursian glosses. The manuscript was brought to Poland by Dziersław of Karnice, a scholaster from Płock, in the 15th century. He purchased it during his stay in Italy, where he studied law from 1469 until 1471. The manuscript spent the next 300 years in Plock, in the library of the cathedral chapter. It was subsequently purchased by Tadeusz Czacki, who added it to the collections of the Poryck Library. After a few years, the manuscript was bought by Adam Jerzy Czartoryski, who made it a part of the collections of the Puławy Library. Finally, the manuscript was brought to the Kórnik Library founded by the Działyński family.

NIEZNANY DOKUMENT DLA JASNOGÓRSKICH PAULINÓW Z 1415 ROKU W ZBIORACH BIBLIOTEKI KÓRNICKIEJ

Author(s): Tomasz Zuzek / Language(s): Polish Issue: 34/2017

During an inventory carried out in the Kórnik Library in October 2016, the author of this article found an unknown parchment document drawn up in 1415, which was purchased to be included in the library collections in 1954, but was not described or provided with a call number at the time and nobody knew about its existence for almost 60 years. In the document, brothers Stanisław and Jakusza, heads and owners of the Lgota village, confirm their sale of a part of their estate, i.e. a certain part of their land at Lgota, which could be flooded by the local pond-stream, to Mikołaj – the Provincial Superior, and the convent of the Pauline Fathers in Jasna Góra. At the same time, both brothers release the Pauline monks from any claims from their mother Katarzyna, and their sisters Jachna, Helena, and Dobrochna. The sale of the land meant for a flooded area should be related to the fact that in 1414 King Ladislaus Jagiello granted the village of Kalej neighbouring with the village of Lgota to the Pauline monks and possibly with their intention to erect a water mill. The document provides us with some new information for genealogical research on Polish nobility in the Middle Ages, and mentions the previously unknown name of the Provincial Superior of the Polish Province of Pauline Fathers – Mikołaj, who served this function in 1415.

WYSTAWA „OPRAWY I OPRAWCY, CZYLI W ŚWIECIE INTROLIGATORSKIM BIBLIOTEKI KÓRNICKIEJ” (1 V – 31 VIII 2017)

Author(s): Marta Małecka-Dobrogowska,Monika Małecka / Language(s): Polish Issue: 34/2017

Okresní archivář a předarchivní péče. Teorie a praxe posledních 40 let

Okresní archivář a předarchivní péče. Teorie a praxe posledních 40 let

Author(s): Miroslav Olšina / Language(s): Czech Issue: 2/2012

Book Transfer Culture: Book Movements in Cities of the Baltic Sea Region as a Sideline of Early Modern Cultural History Research in East Central Europe

Book Transfer Culture: Book Movements in Cities of the Baltic Sea Region as a Sideline of Early Modern Cultural History Research in East Central Europe

Author(s): Burkhard Kunkel / Language(s): English Issue: 4/2023

In recent decades, book archaeological studies have shown that Early Modern book movements in the Baltic region were particularly pronounced at the time of the Lutheran Reformation. In view of the movements of a Melchior Hofmann, a Johannes Block, a Nikolaus Russ or a Sveno Jakobi, their handwritten entries point fragmentarily to the confessional affinities of their owners, but above all to the connections of former networks that had existed between the merchants, craftsmen and clergymen of the Hanseatic cities, and that determined the ruling, scientific and economic-political interrelationships of that time. Books of the sixteenth century testify not only to an enormous mobility of their owners, but also to forms of cultural appropriation between individual appreciation, tradition, or antiquarian interest which emerged from the beginning of the Early Modern period and which brought books from different printing places, binding places and contexts of use into the libraries of the Hanseatic cities. Provided that this is the case, one can certainly speak of a book transfer culture and make it a topic within Early Modern cultural history research, which concerns regions of East Central Europe in particular.

Drei Hebräische Drucke Gersonidischer Herkunft

Author(s): Martina Vodseďálková / Language(s): German Issue: 2/1987

The article discusses three Hebrew prints of Gersonide origin found in a collection of Venetian prints from the 16th and 17th centuries, which were not included in a previously published catalog. These prints are characterized by their ethical and apologetic nature, with one being the first Hebrew edition of the ethical work "Sefer ha-middot" by an unknown author, another being a defense of Judaism by Moshe ben Nahman, and the third containing sermons on morality by Jona Gerondi. The prints showcase the typographical and decorative styles of the Gerson printing family, particularly the work of Mordechai Zemah and his descendants, reflecting the evolution of book design and ornamentation during that period.

Thoraschilde aus den Werkstätten der Prager Silberschmiede in den Sammlungen des Staatlichen Jüdischen Museums

Author(s): Jana Doleželová / Language(s): German Issue: 1/1983

The article informs the readers about silver Torah shields commissioned by Jewish communities and made in Prague workshops. Shields of Prague provenance form about a quarter of the collection kept in the State Jewish Museum. The article includes a typological classification of the shields and studies their decoration and development of style. Added to the text are lists of the makers’ marks to be found on the shields made by Prague silversmiths in the 18th—19th centuries. Thus the readers learn how many shields were made in single workshops.

La synagogue réformée de Prague (la „Vieille école“) et les études juives au cours du 19e siècle

Author(s): Vladimir Sadek / Language(s): French Issue: 2/1980

The author is interested in the first Jewish reform congregation founded in Prague as part of the Old School (later Spanish Synagogue), whose activities began in the year 1837. He mentions the origin of the congregation and its programme put forward by the Prague Jewish scholar of the Enlightenment period, Peter Beer. Mentioned in the article are also some scholars, who acted as rabbis and preachers in the first Prague reform congregation, such as Leopold Zunz, Michael Sachs and S. I. Kaempf.
