Subject search is a way to access document information in the catalog based on their content features. Components of subject search in the computer environment, are access points, such as classification tags, subject words, descriptors, title words. Search is done in a nowadays world via online catalogue. In 1997, IFLA developed a study “Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records”, and for bibliographic marking of records, MARC (Machine Readable Cataloging) format. To enable the subject search, the key is the document subject processing. Subject heading is made of a set or line of words, that are term designations, which as a whole, give a concise statement about the subject. Search and designation are two interrelated processes that must be based on the same terminology.

Author(s): Jasmin Jajčević / Language(s): Bosnian,Croatian,Serbian Issue: 47/2017

Parish registers are a very important part of the archival material that offers a lot of diverse data to researchers of different disciplines. They are public documents that legitimately prove birth, marriage, death, and some other personal status of people. They are important for use because they provide authentic and valuable sources for the study of the past, onomastics, population trends, the origin and distribution of many families, their interests, and are especially important for genealogical, demographic, sociological and social research. Registries belong to the category of archival material that has a permanent shelf life and must be protected against damage, destruction and abuse, and is performed in accordance with the regulations on archival business. It should be emphasized that the registry books are considered to be permanently operational and that to date they are not kept in archives in places where there are optimal conditions for the storage of historical material. In this connection, this paper will deal with the history and legislation of the registers, followed by an overview of the significance of the registers for scientific research, for evidence-legal actions. Then, data on how to acquire, protect and use the registers in the archives of Bosnia and Herzegovina and ultimately the positive experiences of the Tuzla Canton Archives in that field will be given as part of this paper.

Analiza bibliometryczna piśmiennictwa z zakresu komputeryzacji bibliotek na podstawie „Polskiej Bibliografii Bibliologicznej”

Author(s): Izabela Swoboda / Language(s): Polish Issue: 2/2018

One planned to present a quantitative description of the Polish literature which is thematically associated with the problems of the computerisation of libraries in Poland; to define the dynamics of its growth across the span of the last fifty years and to identify – and to provide a quantitative description thereof – of the particular problems which were the subject of the publication until the end of 2017. One applied a bibliometrical method, and the source of data for the bibliometrical analyses was constituted by the “Polish Bibliological Bibliography” (PBB). The study enabled one to determine the time when the bibliological and informatological literature saw the emergence of the first publications which are thematically associated with the problems of the automatisation of libraries and how the dynamics of the growth of the literature in this field occurred in the years 1970–2009. As far as the particular problems are concerned, one indicated only the publications devoted to online catalogues, digital libraries and the Internet in library science. The study also facilitated the identification of factors which hindered or even precluded bibliometrical analyses – the latter were necessary for the obtaining of reliable results. The work was enhanced by the elements of the analysis of the “Polish Bibliological Bibliography” in terms of its utility as a source for bibliometrical research in the problems which are discussed.

ULOGA I ODGOVORNOST ARHIVA U PROCESIMA INFORMATIZACIJE POSLOVA U PISARNICAMA REGISTRATURA (iskustva Arhiva Tuzlanskog kantona)

Author(s): Omer Zulić / Language(s): Bosnian,Croatian,Serbian Issue: 21/2018

Informatisation of jobs in registers in the part of the application of modern technologies, records management is the reality of the 21st century and as such there is no alternative. An increasing number of registries introduces and applies various information programs, which aim to have easier and easier handling and record management. However, as this area is not adequately (or by no means) regulated by regulations, in practice we have very different approaches, to those who are completely wrong and harmful. Therefore, this paper deals with some basic theoretical as well as practical consideration of these issues and the problem of introducing information systems into registry offices. The paper focuses on the question of whether the archives are sufficiently familiar with the mentioned processes, whether they are following, whether they are consulted, whether they participate in the creation of the program, and to what extent? In Bosnia and Herzegovina, these processes take place, to a greater or lesser degree, independent of the archives, which is not good, because archives risk that all such information, records and records are permanently lost. Therefore, archives have the obligation and responsibility to monitor and keep records in place, regardless of their form. In doing so, the author authorizes the key role, but also the responsibility of the author. In this sense, archives need to be more actively involved in the initial creation process (programs, software), establishing adequate professional guidelines (define requirements and expectations) and monitoring over the introduction and implementation of computerization. In addition, the archives must also work on the creation of personnel and IT preconditions (in archives) for acquiring electronic records which is the ultimate, final goal.

IZLOŽBENA DJELATNOST ARHIVA U BOSNI I HERCEGOVINI NA WEB STRANICAMA

Author(s): Mirjana Marinković-Lepić / Language(s): Bosnian,Croatian,Serbian Issue: 21/2018

Archives in Bosnia and Herzegovina are increasingly adopting modern ways of communication, which include various tools - websites, press conferences, scientific and professional meetings, but do not give up traditional formsof communication, such as publishing and exhibition activity. Organization of theexhibition is a way of opening the archive to the public, a means of attracting visitorsand forms of educational and pedagogical activity. Exhibitions are a continuous activity of the archives, they are intended for the general public and can receive excellent results regarding the number of visitors. Through the realization of this typeof cultural content, the dynamic development of archival activity can be monitored, while achieving a certain level of cooperation with the wider community, which, again, has a significant impact on the promotion and affirmation of the archivalprofession. Today, in the age of information technology, archives are confronted withgreat challenges because they have to adapt to changes, even in the segment ofexhibition activity. The archives in Bosnia and Herzegovina have this section of thework, but there are different approaches to this activity, both in terms of the numberof exhibitions held and in terms of their presentation in the public, ie the use of thiskind of activity as a tool for affirmation of archival activities. The work includesthe exhibition activity of archival institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the last10 years (period 2008–2017), based on the research by the method of analyzingthe contents of web pages and questionnaires on the effects of exhibition activity inrelation to visitors of the archive and their affirmation.

The Collection of Documents on the Homeland War in Bosnia andHerzegovina kept in the Croatian Memorial-Documentation Center of theHomeland War is authentic and well preserved. It holds the important part of thetotal records by the same creators and represents the important historical sourcefor understanding the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the 1992-1995 periodand the role that the Croats from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Croatian ArmedForces had in it. Since the collection is not complete, due to the fact that some ofits records are held in several places viz. institutions in Croatia and Bosnia andHerzegovina, its basic archival processing and description has not been done untiltoday nor will they be in the future, because the collection is only temporarilydeposited in the Center until the question of its ownership is permanently settled i.e.until it is most probably returned to Bosnia and Herzegovina where it was created. In spite of that, the records can be easily searched and used with the help of itsinventory list produced by the employees of the Croatian State Archives in April2001. The list shows the creators of records, records’ quantity, description and timeframe.

Renovating the Cultural Heritage of Traditional Shadow Theatre with eShadow. Design, Implementation, Evaluation and Use in Formal and Informal Learning

Author(s): Nektarios Moumoutzis,Marios Christoulakis,Stavros Christodoulakis,Desislava Paneva-Marinova / Language(s): English Issue: VIII/2018

Digital storytelling is an engaging learning environment that gained worldwide popularity over the last years. It offers a rich cross-curricular learning environment within which children design, create and present their own stories and develop many skills including literacy, presentation and communication skills as well as inquiry-based learning and digital skills. In this paper we present a new way of digital storytelling, a form of dramatized storytelling inspired by the rich tradition of Shadow Theater. This form of storytelling showcases an engaging way of renovating cultural heritage with the use of digital technologies. It combines a number of digital tools for the production of the digital stories covering all five phases of film making: scenario development, preproduction, production, post-production and distribution. eShadow can be used (a) to create digital shad-ow puppets, and (b) to set up, perform and record the scenes of the digital story (production phase). This way, digital story creation is wrapped around engaging learning scenarios, playful improvisations and creative learning. eShadow has been extensively used to support cross-curricular learning mainly in Greek schools. It is extended to support marionette-like interactions to promote its use in countries with relevant storytelling cultures.

The recent decade had brought about massive growth in the Web and Web data - pictures, documents, videos and more. What worked well for years with relational databases is not well suited for the unstructured massive amounts of data and applications that are part of the Web, such as social networks. As a result, new types of database have emerged, including NoSQL (“not only SQL”) databases. Graph data-bases are one type of NoSQL database.

Non Algebraic Techniques for Digital Processing of Historic Painting Research Documentation

Non Algebraic Techniques for Digital Processing of Historic Painting Research Documentation

Author(s): Magdelena Stoyanova,Diego C. Stoyanov,Lilia Pavlova / Language(s): English Issue: VIII/2018

Conservation of historic painting requires comprehensive and correct information to be analyzed during the diagnostic and decision making process in a systematic and rational approach. This paper aims to contribute for the setting of an optimal working process tailored for digital image processing of historic painting research documentation, to be used also in other interdisciplinary areas. To the end it integrates the purely algebraic approach with expediencies derived from the specific scientific background of multidimensional and multimodal images of different types (MMI). Following key tasks have been addressed: 1)Presentation involving non algebraic methods whose main advantages are the functionality to the objectives of the scientific study, the relatively reduced computational complexity and the possibility of parallel processing of MMI; 2) Simulation of new digital expedients based on developed methods by using test databases containing different types of MMIs; 3) MMI analysis based on non-algebraic intelligent segmentation methods that expand the possibilities for proper detection, recognition and evaluation of the changes in the surveyed objects; 4) MMI processing based on adaptive interpolation, which is of small computational complexity and provides high quality interpolated areas (objects) in 2,5D, facilitating the decision-making process on the basis of the relevant information. The effectiveness of the proposed approaches in terms of scientific functionality, accuracy of the diagnosis, and low computational complexity is demonstrated with examples of applications to typical real data in the respective subject area.

Author(s): Diana Ivanova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 3+4/2018

Establishment of an organization of health care in hospital structures to meet current requirements is impossible without the introduction of information systems in the work of the nursing staff. Basic professional nursing activities are focused on patient care and conducting research directed by doctors and drug therapy, but at the same time it is necessary recording the patient information. The aim of this study is to determine the skills of nurses for the implementation of information systems in health care. Conducted a survey of 100 nurses from the University Hospital “Lozenets” in 2017. Results. The data obtained show that the 1/5 of the nursing staff may not work with a computer, and only 12% are those who work with the information system of the hospital. Nearly 90% of respondents indicated that bring patient information in notebooks on hand for these activities spend more than 1 hour of their time.

COBISS u Makedoniji: osvrt povodom dva jubileja

COBISS u Makedoniji: osvrt povodom dva jubileja

Author(s): Žaklina Gjalevska / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 24/2019

This paper provides a brief overview of the COBISS organizational model and software usage in the development of the national library information system in Macedonia over the past 30 years. The beginnings of COBISS usage have been running since 1989 within the shared cataloguing system in the SNTIJ / BIS project. Following the breakup of Yugoslavia and the failure of the shared cataloguing system, several Macedonian libraries have again started t use COBISS software due to the need to introduce new technologies and to automate their processes. In 2004, when a great number of libraries showed interest to use COBISS software, the Ministry of Culture of RM has decided to use the COBISS platform for the development of the national library information system of Macedonia, and for this purpose, in the National and University Library “Sv. Kliment Ohridski “ has established centre of the Virtual Library of Macedonia, i.e. VLM Centre. For the past 15 years, COBISS.MK has been operating and evolving according to COBISS.Net development plans. By the end of this anniversary year, more than 70 libraries (national, public, higher education and special) will be included in the system. The decades-long implementation of COBISS has made it possible for online libraries to be seen, to save and to organize the time in the process of the library materials catalogu-ing, and to animate the public by increasing the interest in the use of libraries.
