Reči svetlosti

Author(s): Eduardo Cadava / Language(s): Serbian

Here Eduardo Cadava demonstrates that Walter Benjamin articulates his conception of history through the language of photography. Focusing on Benjamin’s discussion of the flashes and images of history, he argues that the questions raised by this link between photography and history touch on issues that belong to the entirely trajectory of his writings, including the historical and political consequences of technology, images and history, remembering and forgetting, allegory and mourning.

Pogled i subjektivnost

Author(s): Branka Arsić / Language(s): Serbian

The entire philosophy of the new age would have been different had the model of reason and rationality been looked for in optics instead of in geometry. Optics offers a possibility to supply a real image-object with status, function and name of a virtual object, without characterizing this change of status as hallucination. The possibilities for the interpretation of the character of reason and the nature of the subject-object relation, i.e. the nature of subject, thus presenting themselves, immediately become apparent. Optics would permit the crossing and linking together of real and imaginary space, but not by turning real space into the imaginary, or vice versa, but rather by keeping, in their being linked together, the difference between these two spaces, at once undermining the very possibility of what the 17th- and 18th- century theoreticians called "the absolute space".

Author(s): Shaykh Shihabuddin Suhrawardi al-Maqtul / Language(s): Bosnian

Shihāb ad-Dīn Yahyā ibn Amirak ibn Abī al-Futuh Suhrawardī, renowned Persian philosophy, theosopher and Sufi, was born in 549 AH (1155 CE) in the province of al-Jabal in Azerbaijan, formerly a province in north-western Iran. He is now known in philosophical and theosophical works as Shaykh al-Ishrāq (master of Illuminationist philosophy), in recognition of his founding a distinct philosophical, theosophical and Sufi tradition known as Falsafa al-Ishrāq (illuminationist philosophy) or al-hikma al-mashriqīyya (oriental theosophy). He was imprisoned in Aleppo on the orders of Salah ad-Dīn (Saladin), on account of his Sufi teachings, and finally put to death at the age of thirty or thirty-eight (1191). He is thus also known in Sufi writings as Shaykh al-Maqtūl (the murdered master) or the martyred shaykh (shahīd). The most comprehensive information about his life is now to be found in a work by his pupil Shahrazūrī, also known as an authentic commentator on Suhrawardī’s great work of philosophy entitled Kitāb hikma al-ishrāq (the Book of Illuminationist Wisdom).

Arystoteles na nowo odczytany

Kritike, predgovori, razgovori, 1962. — 2011.

Author(s): Želimir Koščević / Language(s): Croatian

The activity of Želimir Koščević started at the beginning of ’60s, while he was still studying the History of Art at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. At the time, the Yugoslav society was, in the sphere of visual arts, firmly oriented towards progressive creative concepts. Croatia and Zagreb were the home of one of the liveliest art scenes in Europe. Koščević personally contributed to the scene as a curator of the Student Centre Gallery in the most important period of its activity, from 1966 to 1979. <br>There he promoted artistic practices and artists who would essentially mark the national and global art during the next period and inaugurated the curator practice that would become a norm in the sphere of contemporary art presentation. Although Koščević had a high level of theoretical knowledge, the incessant, active curator work and experience of managing the gallery, as well as the direct interaction with artists and audience, provided practical insights for his critical estimations of exhibitions and art phenomena.

Социалната уязвимост

Author(s): / Language(s): Bulgarian

The following collective monograph presents the summarized theoretical achievements of a study of a team of young scientists and postdoctoral fellows on a project on the topic: “I have no one to turn to! - Socioanalytical dimensions of vulnerability” (funded by NF “Scientific Research”, contract № ДМ 20/4, 20.12.2017). The team comprises 11 young scientists, PhD students and postdoctoral fellows from the departments of “Sociology and Human Sciences” and “Philosophy” at the Faculty of Philosophy and History at Plovdiv University “Paisii Hilendarski”.The research presented in this monography is structured in a way that demonstrates the effectiveness of the analytic interplay between data obtained through empirical research and attempts to develop socioanalytical identifiers of social vulnerability, as well as those for synthesizing methodological approaches for the analysis of various forms of social suffering. The productive meeting between them is reflected in the Socioanalytical Protocol Project as developed by the team members. The first two introductory texts has focus, on the one hand, on outlining the contexts in which the work on the project “I have no one to turn to! - socioanalytical dimensions of vulnerability” is carried out, following the key semantic problems: 1. The practice of understanding in socioanalytical conversations; 2. Analytical techniques for microscopic practico-logical data analysis; 3. Socioanalytical interpretation of the data relevant to the socioanalysis from the practical logic of the persons studied; 4. Reflexivity and self-reflexivity of the methodology and of the socioanalyst. These two texts also summarize the problems the team is facing. On the other hand, particular attention is paid to the methodology used in the Socioanalytical Protocol Project, which is developed as the main methodological instrument for the work on the empirical studies. The main thematic presentation related to the work on the empirical studies is presented in the section Socioanalytical Dimensions of Vulnerability, which consists of 9 texts developed through research work with this methodological tool. Each text is accompanied by an “Excerpt from the Project for Socioanalytical Protocol” on the relevant research case, which gives the reader a chance to become acquainted with the integral part of the research process and the intermediate analytical moves that led to the analyzes, reflections and results presented in each article.

Author(s): Marek J. Siemek / Language(s): Polish

The most important Polish publication devoted to the philosophy of Kant and Fichte. The fundamental aim of the Author was to describe a way of thinking called transcendentalism, as the works of the two philosophers have played a crucial role in its birth and development. The idea of transcendentalism has been extracted by Siemek from various historical entanglements, presented using a language independent of the old philosophy, but most importantly – the ground-breaking character of transcendentalism and its timeliness from the point of view of modern thought has been argued in a fascinating way.

Marek J. Siemek, Dzieła. II. » Wolność i utopia w myśli filozoficznej Schillera «

Author(s): Marek J. Siemek / Language(s): Polish

The basis of the edition is a new version of the text about Schiller, which Marek J. Siemek worked on in the last years of his life. Compared to the known monograph published in the series Thoughts and People (Universal Knowledge, 1970), the volume has been enriched with a critical apparatus and philosophical threads appearing in the author's considerations in later years. The author presents Schiller from a site less known to the Polish reader: not as a poet and playwright, but as a philosopher - a pupil of enlightenment exceeding the ideological horizons of the era, the reader and Kant's original interpreter. He discusses his reflections on the sense of history, attitude to the Greek ideal, as well as the most famous philosophical ideas - concepts of naive and sentimental poetry and the project of aesthetic education.

Spirits in the material world. Aristotle's philosophy of mind, in particular his doctrine of nous poiêtikos

Author(s): Sonia Kamińska-Tarkowska / Language(s): English

This book is inspired by the quest for the proper function of Aristotle’s active intellect presented in De Anima 3.5. The urge to grasp its essence has always driven philosophy ahead. Nevertheless, the true nature of nous poiêtikos remains far from being grasped. I will not unravel it here either, I am afraid. My aim is far more modest: to get through the existing interpretations and try to systematise them somehow. To speak in a more poetic, metaphorical way: my aim is to shed some light upon the subject. I wish to explore the light metaphor from De Anima 3.5 on many levels. To avoid getting lost in Aristotle and Aristotelian interpretations, I have divided the readings of nous poiêtikos into mystical and rational ones.

W cierpieniu nie ma nic pozytywnego. Paweł Śpiewak w rozmowie z Piotrem Kulasem

Author(s): Paweł Śpiewak,Piotr Kulas / Language(s): Polish

The interview with Paweł Śpiewak touches on the main themes of his work and interests: Polish divisions, the relationships between memory and history, Polish and Jewish tangled identities. The interlocutors attempt to understand human choices and experiences, trying to keep their distance and avoiding one-sided accusations. The book offers an insight into a rebellious, ironic mind that cannot be pigeonholed. The interview starts with the present and adult life of Paweł Śpiewak, gradually turning to the past: the childhood, family home and parents: Polish poets Anna Kamieńska and Jan Śpiewak. Blending biography with intellectual history, the book allows to understand not only the figure of Paweł Śpiewak, but also the fates of his generation and recent history.

Filozofiranje sa decom

Author(s): Ana Lipij,Miloš V. Janković,Miloš Jeremić,Milica Sekulović,Predrag Krstić / Language(s): Serbian

Philosophy with children can be and is an extremely enriching and stimulating activity. Talking with children about topics that encourage thinking can help them develop critical thinking, creative thinking, develop empathy, and also understanding the world around them. The editors of this handbook set themselves a very difficult task, creating a handbook for teachers for philosophizing with children. The topics they have chosen are difficult, which only proves that this manual is good. The problem with philosophy with children today is that it is a relatively desirable discipline and everyone wants to do it. So we often come across the claim that it is about philosophy with children, when in fact it is about something else, something less demanding, something that has nothing to do with philosophy. This is not the case here. This is about philosophy with children in all its essence.
