Koncepcja bestialstwa (thēriotēs) w Etyce Nikomachejskiej Arystotelesa

Koncepcja bestialstwa (thēriotēs) w Etyce Nikomachejskiej Arystotelesa

Author(s): Maria Marcinkowska-Rosół / Language(s): Polish Issue: 3/2016

The article deals with the „brutishness” or „beastliness” (thēriotēs), a concept introduced by Aristotle in the seventh book of the Nicomachean Ethics and defined by him as a negative ethical disposition, different both from vice (kakia) and from incontinence (akrasia), and leading to such pathological behaviours as canibalism, paedophilia, omophagia, phobias and compulsions. Aristotle’s statements concerning the brutishness (VII 1, 1145a15-35, VII 5, 1148b15-1149a24 and VII 6, 1149b23-1150a8) are examined and interpreted in order to clarify the following issues: the essence of the thēriotēs as a specific ethical disposition (Part I-II), its concrete forms and their causes (Part III), the moral-psychological condition of persons with a brutish hexis (Part IV), and their self-consciousness and moral responsibility for their bestial acts (Part V).

Метакритика над пуризма на разума (1784 г.)

Author(s): Johann Georg Hamann / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 2/2017

In his short essay, the author Johann Georg Hamann reacts critically to the very core of Kant’s anti-metaphysical project by trying to show that the distinction between analytic and synthetic judgments on the one side and between pure intuitions and concepts on the other side does not affect at all the hidden laws of language. He claims that certain forms of life itself, manifested in different kinds of creative artifacts as part of all human expression, being strongly backed by religious experiences in the Judeo-Christian tradition, do for sure lead in a strikingly modern way to lots of unsurpassable contributions towards deeper understanding of the roots of our reason through their imaginative and morally relevant findings and/or revelations

THE CATHARTIC FUNCTION OF COMMUNICATION

THE CATHARTIC FUNCTION OF COMMUNICATION

Author(s): Maria Pescaru,Mihaela Luminița Sandu / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2018

Often, communication is defined as a particular form of the exchange relationships between two or more persons, two or more groups. Iassessment or solving of problems, but sharing one's own feelings, the effort to know and understand the other and the cooperation in finding a mutually satisfactory solution. Communication is a dynamic act; it's the gateway between two interior worlds. Effective communication also means the public expression of feelings and emotions. Expressing an emotion allows us to acknowledge it and to recognize ourselves in it. This study proposes to identify the style of communication, to emphasize the intensity of the religious feeling of the participants in the study, as well as their opinion regarding the need to discharge their emotions in the challenging periods of life. This research is, therefore, a necessary step, a good argument in order to raise awareness for the need for communication, and a condition for mobilizing resources in view of this approach. The survey was carried out on a sample of 120 persons, using as instruments the S.C. questionnaire (Analysis of the style of communication), the questionnaire for the assessment of religious feeling (C.E.S.R.), the questionnaire of investigation of the need to discharge one's emotions. The action of listening is an element to which the approaches of the communication phenomenon can no longer only grant a place in the area of interaction, as it can moreover provide perspectives on the size of the relationship and of the interaction itself. One of the limits of this research can be found in the reduced number of participants in the study. Researches to this respect might continue by using a representative sample, by which we could be able to determine to what extent the results show a characteristic of our society by comparison with Western ones and to what extent can we speak about cultural and mentality differences in this respect.Often, communication is defined as a particular form of the exchange relationships between two or more persons, two or more groups. A SOCIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF POLITICS AND DEMOCRACY

A SOCIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF POLITICS AND DEMOCRACY

Author(s): Albert Ogien / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2016

This paper endorses a pluralist conception of politics, which articulates three proposals : 1) the order of politics is scattered throughout society ; 2) its institutionalization takes place in a multitude of ways which are not confined to those acknowledged by State administrations ; and 3) forms of political action manifest themselves under modes that often go far beyond the usual bounds set by official political. In such a perspective, politics is not conceived of as if it were totally detached from the daily life of the members of a society. It thus contends that in their political dealings citizens make use of an ordinary conception of politics and democracy which endows them with a specific idea of the common good and of the rights a State should guarantee to nationals. This contention is empirically put to test through two case studies of political claim staking: civil disobedience and gatherings (encampments, occupations). The article eventually suggest that democracy should be seen as a method for organizing ordinary social relations on the basis of a principle : respecting the plain autonomy and unconditional equality of any citizen.

THE NEW ISSUES OF HIGHER EDUCATION AND RESEARCH TERITORIAL PUBLIC POLICIES

THE NEW ISSUES OF HIGHER EDUCATION AND RESEARCH TERITORIAL PUBLIC POLICIES

Author(s): Pascal Lafont,Marcel Pariat / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2016

In order to bring our contribution to those issues and to provide some answers, even partial ones, to the most complex question: « What part does French higher education play in present day society? », our argumentation is articulated around such axes as: higher education governance and its environmental constraints, and the autonomy limits of higher education. If the objective as regards public policy is to build a common higher education space, capable of encouraging cooperation and exchanges between institutions and the students’ and professors’ mobility, by seeking, even experimenting, new modes of harmonization, the universities seek to preserve their autonomy by identifying measures of social innovation and the mobilization of the social partners as well as both the individual and collective actors in the processes of transformation of higher education. However, the results show that some universities are being confronted with budget and financial difficulties and could, in a near future, be placed under tutorship, thus creating a new paradoxical situation, considering the political will to lead the universities towards a greater autonomy for the sake of their modernization and of international competition. The pressing necessity to change modes of governance is once more highlighted here with the incitement to encourage a real process of consultation and democratic mobilization.

WHAT IS SOCIAL INTELLIGENCE ?

WHAT IS SOCIAL INTELLIGENCE ?

Author(s): Gabriela Militaru / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2016

This paper presents a summary and aims to define social intelligence. The original definition of social intelligence concept belongs to Edward Thorndike, who defined it in terms of ability to understand people and to act wisely in human relations. Despite its usefulness and freshness, the term social intelligence was initially criticized by some researchers who rejected the concept considering it as a simple ability to manage social situations. Furthermore, the main argument the opponents of the theory of social intelligence had against it was related to the inability to measure social intelligence of a person. However, the psychology researchers have found a way to give social intelligence a quantitative note by using the hypothesis of effective behavior which can be measured by multiple ratings. Therefore, today we can say that social intelligence is defined as an individual's background knowledge about the social world.

Ismétlés. Kép. Képi differencia

Ismétlés. Kép. Képi differencia

Author(s): Erika Fám / Language(s): Hungarian Issue: 4/2018

The repetition is a philosophical category, since Kierkegaard the term is present in the image theory. Gilles Deleuze in his work Différence et répétition (Difference and repetition) constructed the fundamentals of repetition theory. The difference at Deleuze (this is not the same term as the différance at Derrida) is defined in the context of the repetition. Gottfried Boehm in the seventies introduced the term of iconic difference (ikonische Differenz), parallel was Deleuze and Guattari who in their common work Mille plateaux talk about the term machine abstraite (abstrakte Maschine), in the context of definition of the face, as an image. In my study I analyse the relationship between the repeated images and the iconic difference and I talk about the nonverbal structure of the iconic difference.

“Yes…, and…”. On Violence and/as Hospitality

Author(s): Ana M. LUSZCZYNSKA / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2019

Beginnings are violent and deceitful. Pretending that they spontaneously emerge from nowhere, these words and thoughts cannot help but feign erasure of all that preceded them. There is thus something bold and presumptuous about claiming the ability to inaugurate and virtually burst onto the scene. In an attempt to mitigate the violence and deception of this particular beginning, I want to clearly contextualize what will follow.

Constantin Noica (1909-1987)

Author(s): Octaviana Jianu / Language(s): Romanian Issue: 3-4/2019

This article proposes the brief reconstruction of the philosopher Constantin Noicaʼs biography. During the communist regime, his life was marked by two political events: the establishment of compulsory residence in the provincial town Câmpulung-Muscel in 1949 and his arrest in December 1958. Actually, at the end of the 1950s the communist judicial authorities consider the writers Constantin Noica and Constantin Pillat responsible for the subversive activities practiced by a group of 23 intellectuals, who remained in the history of communism in Romania under the name of the „Noica-Pillat batch”.

Editörden: Çatışma ve Kriz Sürecinde Yoğun Kitlesel Akışlara Uluslararası Toplumun Bir Cevabı Olarak Küresel Göç ve Mülteci Mutabakatları

Author(s): Mehmet Gokay Özerim,Deniz Eroğlu Utku,Pinar Yazgan / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 1/2019

CRIMINAL ANTHROPOLOGY: AN EPISTEMOLOGICAL ESSAY ON REPRESENTATIONS, NAMING AND CONTEXT

Author(s): Hatem Benzaouz / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2019

This article presents a variety of literature related to the vast field of criminology and more particularly to its epistemology. The content is focused on the emergence of this discipline, while tracing the path to its scientific aspect. This work, based on the history of criminology, aims to synthesise the scientific debates between criminologists from different schools. The latter raises two main points: the chronological order of the names proposed by "criminology", in particular the preliminary idea relating to "criminal anthropology", and the scientific trend, which underlines the origin of criminology, which has become a scientific discipline to date.

SAINT JOHN CASSIAN’S VISION ON THE RELATION BETWEEN GRACE AND LIBERTY

SAINT JOHN CASSIAN’S VISION ON THE RELATION BETWEEN GRACE AND LIBERTY

Author(s): Nicuşor Tucă,Corneliu-Dragoş Bălan / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2019

The orthodox doctrine states that the beginning of salvation is made by divine grace, as uncreated energy, combating Pelagianism and Semipelagianism. Saint John Cassian, rightly included among the “great teachers and spiritual masters”, is considered by Owen Chadwick, together with Blessed Augustine, the personality who dominated the 5th century. Saint John Cassian highlights in his writings, especially in the second series of “Conferences” (Conferences XI-XVII) his teaching regarding the relationship between grace and free will, a teaching he had learned from Scripture, from theologians from the East and from many of the Western writers before Augustine (West theologian who supported predestination). The 13th Conference is a broad analysis of the relationship between grace and will of freedom, not only in the context of human effort to obtain salvation and perfection, but also in the process of conversion.

W perspektywie Innego. Czytanie opowiadań Irit Amiel w kontekście psychologii międzykulturowej

Author(s): Adam Regiewicz / Language(s): Polish Issue: 10/2019

Intercultural psychlogy is a discipline within cultural studies. It is of an interdisciplinary character, combining the philosophy of meeting, imagology, and discourse and becomes the part of the metadiscourse practiced by cultural comparative studies. The article attempts to test the tool in reading Irit Amiel’s stories. The author is an Israeli writer who, in The Seared, deals with the topic of the Holocaust. Her biography – Jewish in origin, with her childhood in Poland, and wandering around Germany and Italy, finally stopping in a Palestinian haven – testifies to her intercultural pedigree. Amiel takes up the subject of the Holocaust after almost fifty years of silence, and she does so by showing different cultural points of view. Intercultural psychology discovers the framework of social behavior in which the characters move. This tool allows us to show that today “being seared” is one of the constitutive features of the Jewish culture.
