A közúti elérhetőség szerepe a hazai fürdőtelepülések turisztikai versenyképességében

Author(s): András Bozóti,Áron Kovács,Zsuzsanna Pótó,Márta Bakucz / Language(s): Hungarian Issue: 01/2015

When examining competitiveness of tourism, transport plays an outstanding role. The specific aim of our paper is to review and disclose the context between the touristic performance of localities with spa and thermal bath based on inland accessibility and domestic tourism data. The survey comprises two Hungarian regions, Western Transdanubia, considered as central from the point of view of tourism flow, and the peripheric Southern Transdanubia, thus spatial level consequences can also be drawn. From collected primary data and available secondary data ranking correlation coefficients have been calculated. The former source was an own questionnaire on spa selection preference, and the latter source was settlement data stock of the Hungarian Central Statistical Office. Upon evaluation of information in the questionnaire and the ranking correlation of domestic data the relationship between physical approachability, accessibility by road and touristic output of localities was confirmed. Results show that although there is relationship between data on tourism and road traffic, but it can only be shown to a limited extent, because of the indirect contribution of transport to tourism.

Author(s): Vladimir Alexandrovich Bakaev,N. V. Savchenko / Language(s): Russian Issue: 6/2015

On the basis of summarizing long-term studies are considered factor-spatial features of the content of organic matter in different types of small lakes the entire spectrum of natural are-as in Western Siberia. To characterize the organic matter used indicators of water oxidation - permanganate (oxidation KMnO4) and dichromate (oxidation K2Cr2O7), as well as a set of conversion factors, which allows fully characterize the nature of the agents. For each landscape zone and the features of territorial differentiation, seasonal dynamics of organic matter. Geographical distribution of organic matter is characterized by increasing its content in the direc-tion of freshwater lakes of the tundra ponds to the forest steppe zone, the highest possible con-centration characteristic of hyperhaline steppe lakes. Territorial and seasonal dynamics deter-mined by the ratio of allochthonous and autochthonous organic matter. In freshwater lakes ten-dency to increase the content can be traced to the beginning of the hydrological summer land-scape in each region (dominated allochthonous organic matter supplied from the watershed), the maximum values observed in summer and autumn (increase of production of autochthonous organic matter), minimum – in winter. For seasonal dynamics characteristic organic matter salt lakes the largest concentrations in the winter-spring and autumn-winter period, and the lowest – in the summer. Specificity of the horizontal and vertical distribution of organic matter in all types of lakes closely connected with the peculiarities of overgrowing of lakes and hydrography. In conclusion, highlighted the value of background ratio of allochthonous and autochthonous organic matter in the zonal section and highlighted the role of anthropogenic factor.

TRANSLOCAL URBANISM IN SOUTHERN AFRICA: BETWEEN JOHANNESBURG AND MAPUTO

TRANSLOCAL URBANISM IN SOUTHERN AFRICA: BETWEEN JOHANNESBURG AND MAPUTO

Author(s): Paola Piscitelli / Language(s): English Issue: 4/2015

This paper investigates the link between mobility and urban space in the geographical context of Southern Africa. At the intersection of urban theory and mobility studies, this paper focuses on the relationship between mobility, informality and urban space in the ‘cities off the map’. Proposing and adopting the theoretical framework of ‘transnational urbanism’, it addresses the ‘mobile constitution of the urban space’ by investigating the link between trans-local geographies and socio spatial practices of “mukheristas”, Mozambican informal cross-border traders. Mukheristas deploy movement as a livelihood strategy as well as a transactional way to carve out space in the everyday life of the city. Navigating multidimensional constraints, they are able to connect heterogeneous spaces and networks across transnational distances. The paper attempts to unveil the manifold configurations of agency underlying this process by following the practices, stories, and places of informal cross-border traders between Johannesburg and Maputo deploying multi-situated ethnographic explorations.Using a view from below and a relational approach to urbanism, the paper unfolds the mobility potential and related socio-spatial agencies, often ignored and/or underestimated as important components of the spatial processes pertaining to the the construction of the “urban”.

Projektowane Centrum Nauki i Techniki „Energia” w Karlinie – nowa atrakcja turystyczna na Pomorzu Zachodnim

Author(s): Zbigniew Głąbiński / Language(s): Polish Issue: 04/2015

Western Pomerania is a region that is known among tourists mainly because of the sandy beaches of the Baltic Sea. Most of the more than 2 million tourists, who visit the region each year, come in summer and head straight for the beach resorts. This leads to a significant space-time concentration of tourism activity which is unfavorable in terms of the preservation of natural assets, as well as for socio-economic reasons. The region is perceived as not attractive for cognitive tourism, including geotourism. The eruption of oil and gas in Karlino in 1980 belongs to one of the most interesting events in the recent history of the region. This event has inspired the Karlino municipal authorities to create a modern educational museum that would commemorate the event and creatively present the formation processes of energy fuels throughout the geological history of the Earth. The creation of this facility would be an excellent opportunity to popularize geological knowledge among numerous tourists visiting the nearby beach resorts and would contribute to the socio-economic activation of the residents of the Karlino municipality.

Град у Србији и Бугарској: компаративно ишчитавање актуелних процеса

Author(s): Sanja Zlatanović / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 1/2015

Тhe topic of this volume is a result from The Contemporary City in Serbia and Bulgaria: Processes and Changes, a bilateral project of the Institute of Ethnography of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts and the Insti-tute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies with Ethnographic Museum of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (2014-2016). The six papers offer a comparative view of current social processes in two neighbouring Balkan countries, linked by numerous historical and political experiences. Comparative research into societal trends enables a more thorough understanding and monitoring of global processes. In today’s increasingly globalised and glocalised world, towns experience sudden changes and it is in the towns that these changes are most vividly to be seen. The focus of our research is on the dynamism of the contemporary town, on processuality and changes in societal practices.

Warunki mieszkaniowe w małych miastach Polski ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem Uniejowa

Warunki mieszkaniowe w małych miastach Polski ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem Uniejowa

Author(s): Katarzyna Milewska-Osiecka,Agnieszka Ogrodowczyk / Language(s): Polish Issue: 1/2015

Humans spend an average of 80% of their lives in their households. Good housing conditions are crucial for the attractiveness of the city, its urban area and quality of life of their inhabitants. In the following text, the author focuses on two basic issues. Firstly, living conditions in small Polish towns are examined. One of the aims of this article is analysis of changes in the housing conditions of small Polish towns in the years 2004‒2010. Urban centres inhabited by less than 10 000 people are regarded as small towns (having civic rights and an adequate population in the year 2004 and in 2010). The analysis of changes in housing conditions in small Polish towns takes into account the size of the apartments, their technical and sanitary conditions, and the number of occupants. As a result, 5 groups of towns have been identified, differing in the level of infrastructure and the rate of changes. The second aim of this article is to characterize housing conditions in a small town on the example of Uniejów, a town located in the voivodeship of Łódź, and to present opinions of the residents of this town about the housing conditions. Uniejów is seen as a town of success in recent years and may indeed serve as a reference for other cities as regards the parameters analysed. The above analysis shows to what degree the economic success of a city translates into the perception of housing conditions by its residents.

Baltic Sea regional integration: water protection, university co-operation – and agriculture?

Author(s): Stefan Ewert / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2013

Research on Baltic Sea region building processes emphasizes the discursive elements of the emergence of the region in the beginning of the 1990s, yet lacks the analysis of policy-specific developments of regional integration around the Baltic Sea. My article argues that the neo-functionalist approach opens useful insights in order to understand these developments. Starting from marine environment protection as a nucleus of regional integration, I demonstrate spill-over effects to the field of education policy and higher education co-operation in the Baltic Sea Region. Following this, I analyze why there are no spill-over effects to the adjacent policy area of agriculture up to now.

Loa loa – oko w oko z tropikalnym potworem

Author(s): Pawel Jonczyk,Magdalena Potempa,Marzena Zalewska-Ziob / Language(s): Polish Issue: 4/2015

Loa Loa is a few centimeters long nematode worm, which belongs to the Family Filariidae. It is responsible in human for a disease called loiasis. Parasite occurs in majority equator rainy forest areas of Middle and West Africa. After the Loa Loa infection, within the human body, parasite develops from the larvae stage – microfilaria into the adult one, ready for sexual reproduction. Main clinical symptoms of invasion are different skin lesions, socalled Calabar swellings. Additionally, subconjunctival migration of an adult worm has become a characteristic pathological feature of loiasis. This paper presents the geographical range of incidence of Loa Loa and its life cycle. Furthermore, disease symptoms and main diagnostic and therapeutic methods of loiasis have been described as well.
