NDIKIMI I ANGLISHTES NË LEKSIKUN E TË FOLURIT TË MËSIMDHËNËSVE NË KOSOVË

Author(s): Hajrije Devetaku Gojani / Language(s): Albanian Issue: 53/2023

Based on the data and findings of the research, we conclude that linguistic influences come as a result of various contacts and influences in society. The identified words that have been acquired in the teachers' speech lexicon, as a result of the influence of English, have their origins in the time of the administration of Kosovo by UNMIK and continue to be used today. At that time, all forms of communication and cooperation with internationals in the field of educational reforms, including forms of professional development/training of teachers were in English by English speakers, because English was the official language and education was under the administration of UNMIK. Besides being English speakers, they also came from different cultures and with different varieties of English. Seminars, trainings, conferences and other forms of professional development were conducted in English, or with translation from English to Albanian. So, the lectures by experts in the fields were in English. Also, there were stages of professional development that were carried out outside of Kosovo for local experts, and also, they were carried out in English, with or without translation. The professional development of teachers is continuous, so even now we have cases of conferences, seminars and various professional development programs in which the lectures are conducted in English. There are also various projects for education from various international state organizations, which, some of the lectures or activities are carried out in the English language. So, these are some of the ways and forms of acquiring borrowed words in the field of education, as a result of the influence of English and frequent contacts with English speakers. It is worth mentioning the fact that most of the words borrowed in the context of the educational reform through the influence of English are of Latin origin, they are Latinisms, but they are used at the international level. The sociolinguistic factors that influenced the acquisition of foreign words, as a result of the influence of English, are the factors that affect the field of education, political, social and cultural factors. In addition to the vocabulary of teachers, these words have become part of the professional educational discourse and standard terminology in the field of education. These words and others are used in the Law on Pre-university Education in Kosovo, in the Law on Education in Municipalities, Administrative Instructions, strategic documents, etc. So, the words mentioned above, as a result of the processes that our society has gone through, in general, in the field of education, in particular, have already become part of educational policies and beyond.

Okul Öncesi Eğitimde Teknoloji Kullanımında Rol Model Olarak Dijital Ebeveynlik

Okul Öncesi Eğitimde Teknoloji Kullanımında Rol Model Olarak Dijital Ebeveynlik

Author(s): Şafak Akkoyunlu,Evrim Pınar / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 21/2024

Preschool education is an educational process that is given with the arrival of children into the world, first with the support of the family and then with the support of the school. In this educational process, which addresses the cognitive, linguistic, social-emotional, psychomotor and self-care skills of the child, it is necessary to use the innovations brought by the age by adapting them to current life. It is seen that technology, which has an important role in current life, has become an indispensable element for today's child, who is considered a digital native, and his orientation towards the use of technology. Technological devices that exist in all areas of life have inevitably become an indispensable element in the life of children in the preschool period. Technology offers various possibilities for many areas of interest of the child. Technology, which offers numerous opportunities for playing, having fun, exploring and learning activities, can make a positive contribution to children when used correctly. It can be useful in preparing children for school in the preschool period. However, the widespread use of technological tools facilitates access and sharing of information and provides positive contributions such as problem solving, analytical and creative thinking, having fun, peer communication, while also leading to an increase in situations that may pose a risk to children and negatively affect them. For this reason, the family should strive to be a good role model in the use of technology by the preschool child. Preschool children who are developing rapidly may sometimes not realize their wants and needs or may not be able to express themselves as they are. In this regard, the adults and the school in the immediate vicinity come into play, enabling the child to get to know himself and discover his abilities. In order for a child to achieve success, these behaviors need to be known, reinforced and supported by his teachers at school and by his parents at home.

Özel Eğitim Öğretmenlerinin Geçici Koruma Statüsü Altındaki Suriyeli Özel Gereksinimli Bireylerin Eğitimlerine İlişkin Görüşlerinin İncelenmesi

Author(s): Fatih Emrah Demir / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 1/2024

Due to its geopolitical structure, Turkey has historically faced migration waves, particularly from the Middle East, for various reasons. The onset of the Syrian civil war in 2011 triggered a mass displacement of individuals affected by the conflict, leading them to seek refuge primarily in Turkey and neighboring countries. Among the groups migrating to Turkey, there is a significant number of school-age children with special needs. Additionally, the number of Syrian individuals with special needs has been rapidly increasing due to births occurring within the country. Special education teachers play a crucial role and bear significant responsibilities in providing services to school-age students with special needs. This study aims to examine the perspectives of special education teachers regarding the education of students with special needs under temporary protection status. To achieve this aim, a focus group interview, a qualitative research method, was conducted. Seven special education teachers working in Gaziantep participated in the focus group. The data obtained were analyzed through content analysis. The content analysis revealed themes such as language differences, school adaptation, the inadequacy of assessment and instructional tools, issues related to instructional adaptation, and the insufficiency of in-service support provided to teachers. Based on the research findings, it can be asserted that adopting an interdisciplinary approach in providing special education services to individuals under temporary protection status is critically important. In this context, the study offers recommendations for practice and further research.

İlköğretim Hayat Bilgisi Kitaplarında Çevre Duyarlığının Yeri ve Önemi

Author(s): Fatma Gürdoruk,Akile Aykulu,Seda Gürdoruk / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 33/2024

In this research, environmental awareness, which is included in the scope of value education, was examined in the Life Sciences textbooks, which are taught as a pivot lesson from the 1st grade to the 3rd grade of primary school, where compulsory education begins in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The research was prepared according to the qualitative research method. Content analysis method was used to analyze the obtained data. In accordance with the purpose of the research, primary school 1st, 2nd and 3rd Grade Life Sciences textbooks prepared for the 2022-2023 academic year were examined. The findings obtained from the research were divided into themes and tables were created in line with the themes obtained for each grade level. The findings obtained were supported by relevant visuals. As a result of the research, the most findings about environmental awareness were found in 3rd grade Life Science books, that is, the issue of environmental awareness was mentioned mostly in 3rd grade books. The most findings from the 3rd grade book belong to the visual field theme. The class with the least findings regarding environmental awareness is the 1st grade Life Sciences books. In the 1st grade Life Sciences books, where there were the least findings, the area where the most findings were obtained was again the visual area. In the light of the findings obtained in the research, it can be said that the Life Sciences books taught in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades of primary school are not sufficient to provide students with environmental awareness. When all the books at these three levels are examined, all themes other than the visual field have not been sufficiently processed and emphasized. At the same time, no activity was found in the books examined that would raise students to the practical level of environmental awareness. Depending on the findings obtained from the research, our suggestions include that the prepared life sciences textbooks should be rearranged on the subject of "environmental awareness and sensitivity" and include activities that will raise the students to the application level, and that these activities should be treated as a common theme not only in the life sciences book but in all courses.

EDUKACIJA ZA 21. STOLJEĆE: POVRATAK PRIRODI – ULOGA ODGOJITELJA

Author(s): Emili Šegon / Language(s): Croatian Issue: 4/2024

Values acquired in early childhood often shape an individual's life path, underscoring the importance of focusing on educational strategies that promote a child's connection with nature. Nature serves as a rich source of experiences that offer children opportunities for education and holistic development. Time spent in nature fosters physical activity, creativity, cognitive development, emotional regulation, and relationship building. This article explores theoretical foundations related to the child and the environment, examining the child from a researcher's perspective and analyzing the impact of nature on a child's development and well-being. With a specific emphasis on 21st-century education, the research aims to determine, based on a sample of preschool educators, the role and influence in establishing a child's connection with nature and promoting healthy lifestyle habits. The study involved 150 preschool educators from the Republic of Croatia. The results indicate a high awareness among educators regarding their crucial role in fostering a child's connection with nature, with 70.7 % (N=106) recognizing this responsibility. Concurrently, a continued interest in outdoor activities was noted by 76.6 % (N=115) of educators. Despite recognized benefits, key limiting factors for nature-related activities include the large number of children in groups and the structure of educators' working hours. In the context of modern education, the research emphasizes the need to adapt the structure of work and educational approaches to optimally leverage the benefits of the natural environment in fostering holistic child development. The integration of nature-based activities should become an integral part of the educational process, contributing to shaping future generations as aware and responsible citizens. Managing the number of children in groups and providing flexibility in educators' working hours are crucial elements for adjusting the educational system to reflect the needs of children in the 21st century.

Profession or vocation: Teachers of preschool and early school on themselves and their occupation

Author(s): Justyna Wojniak,Katarzyna Górka / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2024

This article refers to selected narrative axes surrounding the teaching profession. Against the background of organisational and legal aspects as well as the social perspective, the opinions of preschool and early school teachers about their professional work are presented. In order to gain insight into teachers’ points of view, in 2022 a diagnostic survey was conducted in which 63 teachers of preschool and early school education participated. For the purposes of this research, hypotheses were formulated relating to the level of teachers’ satisfaction with their work, remuneration as one of the key factors of job satisfaction, the phenomenon of professional burnout and teachers’ perception of their profession in terms of social mission. The results did not confirm the dominance of low professional satisfaction among teachers. They also indicated that the remuneration is not a factor determining its occurrence. The assumption that professional burnout is a common phenomenon among teachers was not confirmed, and furthermore, it is not a problem that only affects teachers with great professional experience. At the same time, most of the teachers surveyed agreed with the statement that their profession was a vocation.

Doubt and Suspicion among the Deaf and its Relationship to Social Skills

Author(s): Mu'tasem M. Al-Masa'deh,Hanan M. Takash,Omayya M. Al-Hassan / Language(s): English Issue: 7/2024

This study aimed to explore the relationship between feelings of doubt and suspicion among deaf students in deaf schools in Zarqa city and how these feelings affect their social skills. It also aimed to understand the extent to which these feelings affect students' ability to communicate and interact socially and to determine the prevalence of this phenomenon among deaf students. The study sample comprised 45 deaf children from deaf schools in Zarqa city, aged 12 to 18 years. The pupils were randomly chosen from Al Amal School for Deaf Education in the city to guarantee diverse representation within the sample. The researchers used the Doubt and Skepticism Questionnaire and the Social Skills Questionnaire. In this respect, there is a strong negative relationship between doubt and suspicion and the social skills of deaf students; for example, the correlation coefficient is -0.68 (p= 0.01), which states that for any unit increase in the level of doubt and suspicion, social skills decrease. Where the mean score was 4.2 for those students whose level of doubt and suspicion was low, the mean score is 2.8 for those with high levels of doubt and suspicion. A high level of doubt and suspicion was expressed by 35%, and a moderate level by 45%. The effect of age on levels of doubt and suspicion was significant at p = 0.02, with a higher mean score across the older students: 4.0 for those aged between 16 and 18 years and 3.1 among the younger age group. The communication effectiveness also decreased when the levels of doubt and suspicion were higher: the students scored 4.3 at low levels and 2.9 at high levels.

Author(s): Zoltán Salánki / Language(s): Romanian Issue: 1/2022

The present study proposes a new insight into the general education in the Hungarian-language in Communist Romania, known through the historiography as being a controversial issue. While the officials of the Communist regime stated that the educational rights of minorities were fully respected, the leaders of the Hungarian community argued that there was a certain educational discrimination. In this respect, the city of Cluj, as a symbolic place and the locus of ethnical identification for Transylvanian Hungarians – achieved through the historical becoming of this settlement –, is therefore an optimal choice to enriching our understanding about education in Hungarian as a mother tongue. After the fall of the Communist dictatorship, due to the lack of data related to the Hungarian language schooling during Communism, most of the surveys relied on scattered evidences and resulted in partial school monographs. The present study, based on extended research carried out at the Romanian National Archives, aims to offer a larger perspective on describing and understanding these past realities. It is also focused on “reading” the schooling evidences of the historical period (schools and pupils enrolled) within the political, socio- economical, demographical, institutional context and especially trough the local implementation of educational policies.

The Concept of Small Museums from an International and Local Perspective: Starting Points for Further Research in the Czech Republic

Author(s): Lucie Jagošová / Language(s): English Issue: 4/2023

The study deals with the question, what is a small museum and what are its specifics compared to other museums. Based on available foreign and local sources, it summarizes the current state of research which is largely focused on searching for the consensus on how to clearly define this type of museums. The study is based on the published results of key research in the past twenty years, it outlines selected approaches to the characteristics of a small museum and summarizes its typical features. Analogously, it looks at the state of research in the Czech museum sphere, where the topic of small museums has been repeatedly opened, examined and debated from different perspectives of professional activities and professions in a small museum. The study raises the question of how to effectively build on this state of research and develop it further within the Czech Republic, where this type of museums seems to be insufficiently mapped so far.

Author(s): Agung Prihatmojo,E. Kus Eddy Sartono,Herwin Herwin,- Murjainah,Muh. Hamkah,Irman Syari,Tinto Wahy Kisworo,- Helisman / Language(s): English Issue: 3/2024

In the realm of education local wisdom has gained recognition as a foundational element for both individual and community growth. This study examines the shared perceptions of local wisdom values among lecturers and pedagogy students in Indonesia, aiming to understand the extent of their consensus and its potential influence on teaching practices. The research employs a descriptive quantitative approach, utilizing a purposive sampling technique that includes 120 students and 10 lecturers. Data collection is conducted primarily through a questionnaire-based survey, with the gathered information subjected to thorough mathematical and statistical analysis. Both descriptive and inferential statistical methods are applied to uncover significant insights. The findings indicate that most students (77.2%) and lecturers (80%) agree on the substantial role of local wisdom values in fostering unity amidst diversity. However, there are perceptual differences influenced by variables such as age, educational background, and life experiences. The study suggests that educational stakeholders should consider these diverse perspectives in curriculum development and teaching methodologies. Despite its limitations, research paves the way for further exploration into the interpretation of local wisdom values in pedagogical practices and their impact on student learning outcomes, as well as their contribution to sustainable development and culturally responsive education policies.

Author(s): Febi Junaidi,Sinta Dewi Permatasari,- Srimaryani,Zindi Jenika Silviana,Maria Yolanda Metboki,Amar Noor Hidayat,Amanda Christin Dompeipen,Delta Richelly Rumohoira / Language(s): English Issue: 3/2024

Folk tales serve as a conduit for imparting knowledge concerning the natural environment and social mores to children. The 'AndaiAndai' folk tales within the context of Kedurang assumes a pivotal role in instilling ecological and societal principles in the succeeding generation. This study seeks to investigate the prevalence of the 'Andai-Andai' folk tales and its efficacy in instilling social acumen among students in Kedurang, Bengkulu. The research corpus comprises 'Andai-Andai' folk tales titled "The Clever Orphan," "The Promise of the Buffalo," and "The Buffalo and Beteri." The findings reveal a scarcity in the transmission of 'Andai-Andai' folk tales to the younger demographic. The 'Andai-Andai' folk tales epitomize commendable ecological and social values instilled in children from an early age. The monarch depicted in the 'Andai-Andai' folk tales emerges as a figure characterized by elevated social empathy, fostering community welfare and exemplifying effective leadership. Similarly, the character of Beteri embodies compassion towards others, serving as an exemplar of virtue and beauty. Furthermore, the orphan's portrayal depicts filial devotion towards his grandmother alongside devout religious observance. Additionally, the 'Andai-Andai' folk tales encapsulate the natural milieu of Kedurang, as evidenced by references to elements such as rice fields, buffalo, forests, villages, and rivers. The study findings underscore the significance of preserving 'Andai-Andai' folk tales and highlight community ardor towards this endeavor, recognizing these stories as repositories of environmental knowledge and moral values indispensable for posterity.
