Lwowski dyrygent, kompozytor i pedagog profesor Adam Sołtys i jego uczniowie

Author(s): Tatiana Lysenko-Diduła / Language(s): Polish Publication Year: 0

The great achievements that belong to Prof. Dr. Adam Sołtys, a conductor, composer and pedagogue and who taught the world-known conductors such as Stanisław Skrowaczewski, Witold Krzemiński, Jerzy Kołaczkowski, Eugeniusz Kozak and such composers as Tadeusz Machl, Szandor Kallas, Andrzej Nikodemowicz, Szymon Niemand, Mirosław Skoryk and many others have not seen fundamental scientific researches nowadays. This gap is filled out by souvenirs of his daughter Maryla Sołtys, his disciples, professors Andrzej Nikodemowicz and Leszek Mazepa as well as short slogans that can be found in music encyclopadias. Because of this fact the name of this honoured man who worked for Polish culture is relatively little known both in Lviv and in Poland. That is why in our report we are trying to give a short description of his work as a conductor, composer and, what is the most important, a pedagogue of the first half of the XIX century and 1939—1968, to go into the root of his performing as a conductor and his methodology as a pedagogue, to shed a light on his huge influence as a well-known person who taught young composers and conductors.

In 2016 we have celebrated two significant events: a Silver jubilee to mark the 25th year of the establishment of the Faculty of Philological Studies and the 40th anniversary of the foundation of the South West University in Blagoevgrad. Both events are loaded not only with the symbols of the anniversaries but also with the hard work, perseverance, commitment and emotions of a few generations of scholars and researchers, who devoted their time and work to the elevation of the philological and university knowledge in South-west Bulgaria to the highest ranks in the country. The Collection of articles, offered to the readers’ attention, has been named after the National conference with international participation: “The World is the Word and the Word is the World” since our admiration for the words is in the base of our love to philological knowledge. It comprises most of the conference papers, presented in the event, organised as part of the celebrations of the two anniversaries – of the Faculty of Philological Studies and of the South-West University in Blagoevgrad. The event evoked significant interest, which is a clear sign for the fact that philology and our faculty have a great number of loyal friends not only in our country but also abroad. Our conference attracted more than a hundred philologists from over ten countries – Norway, The Czech Republic, Slovakia, Macedonia, Ukraine, Poland, Serbia, Greece, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and, certainly, Bulgaria. Articles by prominent scholars from the major Bulgarian universities – SU ‘St. Kliment Ohridski’, St Cyril and St Methodius University of Veliko Turnovo, PU ‘ Paisii Hilendarski’, BU ‘ Prof. Dr Asen Zlanatarov’ as well as a number of research institutions such as the Bulgarian Language Institute ‘Prof. Lyubomir Andreychin’, the Literature Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS), the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies and the Ethnography Museum of BAS, the Institute of Solid-state Physics ‘ Acad. Georgi Nadvakov’ of BAS, the Cyril-Methodius Research Centre of BAS, etc – stand out among the contributions to the Collection. Research papers were presented by scholars from a number of European centres of learning: the University of Oslo, Norway; the University of Eastern Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina; Macedonia University in Thessaloniki, Greece; Trnava University in Bratislava, Slovakia; Charles University in Prague, the Czech Republic, etc. The multiple contributions present a large diversity of research topics coming from nearly all spheres of philological knowledge – from linguistics and the social nature of language, through philosophy, semiotics and the pragmatics of language to the problems of Bulgarian and European literature and literary theory, of folklore, ethnology, ethnography and the preserving of cultural heritage. The order of the papers, published in the proceedings, follows the conference programme so the reader will be able to choose from the following seven topical areas: 1. Linguistics: synchronic and diachronic research; 2. Language and culture. Language and subculture; 3. Sociolinguistics, folkloristics and ethnology; 4. Modern Bulgarian and world literature; 5. Media, communications and manipulation; 6. Translation and interpretation: theory and practice; 7. Methodology and didactics. One of the main purposes of such publications is the “meeting” and exchange of a multitude of scholarly ideas, as well as ideas of how we as philologists and humanity scholars can continue our work in a world set on the fast track and full of challenges, where the pragmatism of thought would often put established models on trial. The proceedings are printed on 537 pages and each text is accompanied by an annotation in English with keywords, for easier orientation in the topic area, and author’s E-mail contacts. Foreign language texts are printed in the original so that their meaning and ideas would not be lost in translation. The editors and authors of the conference proceedings, entitled “The World is the Word and the Word is the World”, hope that the present publication is compatible with modern philological research, matches the pragmatic ideas for the development of philology as a science, as well as satisfies the insatiable thirst for knowledge and explanation of philological issues, phenomena and facts from the world around us.

Author(s): Jolanta Kowal / Language(s): French Publication Year: 0

Along with the vocation to exist in 1803 for Imperial Vilnius University, an extensive search action of recruiting foreigners to professorial positions started on the initiative of the Rev. guardian – Adam Jerzy Czartoryski. The professors-Poles, gathered around Jan Śniadecki, opposed to this idea from the very beginning. This division into the Poles and foreigners will begin to tell on itself within the scientific community of the college from now on. Not only ethnic, but also of outlook, political and economic differences were the underlying reason for a mutual animosity. Of course it had a negative influence on the efficient scientific activity of Vilnius University, for example, on publishing magazines which editors were predominantly recruited exactly from the intellectual circle of Vilnius Alma Mater. These fights among both clans had lasted till about 1825 when their chief participants (G.E. Groddeck, J. Frank, J. Śniadecki or S.B. Jundziłł) left the stage.

Author(s): Zorica Stanisavljević Petrović,Slađana Anđelković / Language(s): Serbian Publication Year: 0

The issue of development and fostering of national identity is crucial to every nation, and particularly for the youngest members of the people who live in another state. In addition to other factors that act towards the preservation of religion, native language, tradition and culture, with the family, the school has a very important role as an institution in which it is in a planned, systematic and organized way influenced on the formation and development of a young person. The main objective of this paper, in the historical context, is to emphasize the role and importance of the Serbian schools in Romania in the process of preserving the national identity of the Serbian population. Realization of the role of school in this process is monitored through the description and analysis of learning content and extracurricular activities that are aimed at preserving the religion, nurturing mother tongue, culture and tradition in the three different types of schools: Serbian Orthodox elementary schools, the first Serbian lower secondary school and the Serbian section of high school in Timisoara. Although these schools operated in different time periods and were intended for different age groups of students, the results of the study have indicated their outstanding contribution to the preservation of tradition, culture and religion of the Serbian population in Romania. From the standpoint of preserving the national identity of students in modern Serbian schools in Romania, the experiences of these schools are important pedagogical legacy that in perspective should be developed and nurtured.

Myths and Legends: Modern History and Nationalistic Propaganda in Egyptian Textbooks

Author(s): Patrycja Sasnal / Language(s): English

In 2011, Egyptians overthrew their authoritarian president, Hosni Mubarak. Since then, tumultuous shifts in civilian rule and military interventions have marred Egypt’s transition to democracy, prompting speculation about the potential for reversion to an authoritarian system. How revolutionary was Egypt’s change and how much of it remains? Among the most basic barometers of overall systemic revolutionary change is the education system and, more precisely, the way history is taught. “History is written by the victors,” Winston Churchill was to have remarked, and so history is often rewritten after a revolution. The victors usually want the old narrative removed and their own, new vision presented in textbooks, as they are understood to shape young people’s understanding of the past and present, thus they are conducive to the survival of the new regime.

Sociology as the main concern appears in the works included in the book Razumijevanje društva (Understanding of society) which arised as a result of academic teamwork and cooperation. One of the goals for making and publishing this book is to focus on some of the principal areas of sociology in the manner that it will include the scientific and research fields of the authors of the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Sarajevo. The book represents theoretical insights into some of the most important sociological disciplines. In the context of sociological perspectives, the works include the nature and understanding of society, a theory of society with a focus on the approach to sociology as a specific science with its subject and methods. From the point of view of the individual in society, the works are conceived in a way to present the relationship between culture and society, the field of sociology of violence and to give theoretical explanations about society as a system and structure. The third chapter of the book covers three units, namely social inequalities and poverty, society and population, and rural and urban society. Furthermore, the segment of social institutions emphasizes the relations of education, religion and politics and society, as well as the issues of the modern family and tradition. The section on the human environment implies reflections on social changes in general, but also on changes in the modern world, social ecology and research issues of ethnology / social anthropology. The book ends with an article on the development of sociology in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We hope that this book will fulfill its mission of better understanding social reality in both traditional and modern theoretical framework and in that sense will be useful to students of sociology emphasizing the important emancipatory role of sociology.

Polityka – edukacja – płeć kulturowa. Z perspektywy antropogiki społecznej

Author(s): Elżbieta Górnikowska-Zwolak / Language(s): Polish

Politics is a ubiquitous term today. The author, a representative of social pedagogy (anthropogics), analyzes various approaches to politics, focuses on social and educational policy, looking for a place for gender politics. In her dissertation, she provides a critical insight into the educational policy in Poland after the 1989 political transformation. On the one hand, education is here understood broadly, also outside school, in the public space, from where messages about the educational dimension flow. On the other hand, the focus is directed to selected aspects of gender politics and education, which are critical to the development of girls and women, especially sexual education and reproductive rights. The end of writing the thesis coincided with the outbreak of the Revolution of Women (Autumn 2020), who called for democracy and their civil rights. The publication can help readers understand why this happened.

Savremena simbioza - nauka i društvo

Author(s): / Language(s): Bosnian,Croatian,Serbian

Zato ulaganje u nauku i obrazovanje, a samim tim i u ljudske resurse, donosi veliku korist za pojedince i društvo u cjelini. Pojedinci i društvene grupe zauzimaju odreĊeno mjesto u društvu na osnovu znanja kojim raspolaţu. Ono unapreĊuje sve oblasti ĉovjekovog ţivota i djelovanja.
