Časopis Hrvatska vjernost - kroničar izgradnje Crkve hrvatskih mučenika na Udbini i hrvatskog martirologija

Časopis Hrvatska vjernost - kroničar izgradnje Crkve hrvatskih mučenika na Udbini i hrvatskog martirologija

Author(s): Ante Bežen / Language(s): Croatian Issue: 1/2014

At the time of writing this article the journal Hrvatska vjernost (Croatian Faith) celebrated is tenth year of publication. As a rule it is an annual publication and 10 issues have been issued to date. Until issue 6/2010 it was bulletin of the Church of Croatian Martyrs in Udbina, published by the Gospić-Senj diocese, and from issue 7/2011 it was the bulletin for the Commission of Croatian Martyrology for the Croatian martyrology bishops’ conferences of Croatia and Bosnia and Hercegovina who was also its publisher. From a bulletin method of shaping information it developed into a revue magazine which nurtures many fundamental kinds of publicist expression:news, review, statement, investigation, problem page, interview, chronicle, report, critique, biography, advertising and so on, and there are also specific types for religious press. This achieves a wealth of information and encouragement in its specific mission within the Croatian church and society. The launch and publication of the magazine was made possible by the initiatives of the Gospić-Senj bishop Mile Bogović who is its editor and hardest working writer.

Osobliwe modlitwy w "Doskonałym kancyonale polskim" z 1673 roku

Osobliwe modlitwy w "Doskonałym kancyonale polskim" z 1673 roku

Author(s): Agata Haas / Language(s): Polish Issue: 86-87/2020

Doskonały kancyonał polski (The Perfect Polish Cantional), a Protestant collection of songs and prayers containing Martin Luther's catechism was published in 1673. The cantional became very popular in Silesian Protestant circles; thus, it was reprinted repeatedly in the following years. It was prepared for printing by five pastors from Wrocław with a primary purpose to accompany its readers throughout the whole liturgical year, various holidays, rituals and important – sometimes difficult – moments. The popularity of the cantional lied in its content, especially in various songs and prayers, prepared in a way to be suitable for all circumstances. The article analyzes selected prayers from the series entitled: “Modlitwy nabożne, każdemu w rożnych Przygodach służące” (“Holy prayers serving everyone on various occasions”). These prayers can be described as adventurous, referring to human problems and everyday experiences. The language of individual prayers has been examined, as well as the frame of these texts. The following elements have been discussed in detail: the initial and the final components; the categories of the speaker and the addressee; the nominations of the addressees of requests; selected means of poetic expression, such as apostrophes and metaphors, as well as the functions they perform. The attention was also paid to numerous descriptions which are not components of an apostrophe. Individual requests included in the prayers analyzed were also discussed, as those components determine the internal structure of the text and constitute its key element. Rich vocabulary and an abundance of expressive forms affect the poetic expression of the occasional prayers in question. The texts become sophisticated dialogues between the speaker and the addressee, filled with emotion, zeal, commitment and authenticity of statements. The poetic nature of these works is evidenced by unusual, original metaphors and numerous comparisons. The peculiar prayers discussed in the article, intended to be used at specific moments in the life of every Christian, are a valuable specimen of religious literature in the Polish language of the 17th-century Silesia.

In 1945, after a six-year break, the French consulate in Katowice was reopened. The consuls’ dispatches contain remarks on religious life in Silesia. This article discusses mainly sources written by French diplomats on a mission in Poland, dated from the end of the World War II until 1956. By analyzing those sources one can come to a conclusion that communists in Silesia tried – through the attempts at separating workers from the Church and the secularisation of social life (especially in matters concerning the upbringing of children and youth) – to destroy the authority of the members of the clergy faithful to the Pope in the eyes of the inhabitants of the diocese. Those efforts were meant to lead finally to the establishment of a national Church dependent on civil authority. The analysis of sources written by French diplomats allows us to get acquainted not only with their opinions about the administrators of the diocese of Katowice, but also with the opinions of the community of Kraków.

Cmentarze w powiecie oleśnickim i nymburskim. Porównanie modelowych lokalizacji w okresie nowożytnym

Cmentarze w powiecie oleśnickim i nymburskim. Porównanie modelowych lokalizacji w okresie nowożytnym

Author(s): Stanislav Svoboda / Language(s): Polish Issue: 86-87/2020

The article presents the civil non-Jewish cemeteries of Lower Silesia (the poviat of Oleśnica) and Central Bohemia (the poviat of Nymburk) as specific parts of historical regions. The article analyses the period from the Enlightenment reforms of the end of the 18th century up to the present day. The field studies were focused on the analysis of the preserved urban, architectural and historical values of cemeteries. Subsequently, the analysis of written, cartographic and iconographic sources, predominantly from the 19th and 20th centuries, was carried out, on the basis of which model locations could be compared. In the case of the poviat of Oleśnica, attention was focused on the aspect of transformation that the cemeteries underwent after the displacement of the German population in 1945. In the case of the poviat of Nymburk, the phenomenon of the secularization of the cemeteries in the 20th century was observed. Drawing on the knowledge thus attained, it can be stated that Lower Silesian cemeteries present themselves as particular historical spaces and dynamic places of collective memory in a given religious environment. They stand in stark contrast to Central Bohemian cemeteries, which are becoming conservative – tinged with melancholy – places of family memory.

The text that follows shows that with the work and diligence of many Russian scientists of the XIX century, such as M. Bobrovsky, Prince M. Obolensky and many others, it becomes clear where, in the X and XI centuries, in Kievan Rus were the first books from Bulgaria that laid the foundations of Russian writing. The text shows the appearance, names and content of three samples of them: “Book of the First Genesis”, X century; the oldest text of “For the letters” by Chernorizets Hrabar; and finally - “Suprasalsky manuscript”, because it is the first at the time of discovery and proof that it is of Bulgarian origin.

Anim(al)izacja i pedagogie Bestii. Pedagogika krytyczna w 2050 roku

Author(s): Oskar Szwabowski / Language(s): Polish Issue: 1/2021

The text is a record that the author found during his journey into the future. It was inspired by the 2050 education conference. Using the secret techniques of non-science, he managed to penetrate a world that does not exist. The author himself does not remember much about this trip. There are only torn images and that piece of paper with a story written by someone. It is not known why this particular fragment has remained. Just as it is not known what hand wrote it. It could be the hand of the author himself. But he is not sure. In any case, he rewrote what was left, added a few footnotes. When asked about his goal, he replies that it was meant to say something at the conference. Besides, he treats this text as interventions. He took it for something. Right where he was. Or maybe even wrote/wrote down. He thinks it might be news from the future that will not come.
