I confess that I am still caught in an emotional storm and a state of denial regarding the unexpected passing of Professor Nicolae Popa from our world. It seems unreal that on November 9, 2024, we were celebrating him in Amphitheater 1 and the Senate Hall of "Nicolae Titulescu" University, surrounded by his closest friends, admirers, and supporters, while he was in excellent health and high spirits. Yet, on November 26, 2024, we were inevitably informed of his departure from this world.

On March 29, 2023, Linda Ellis passed away, leaving behind the memory of a highly honest and distinguished researcher. An eminent archaeologist with vocation and dedication, Linda Ellis remains in the memory of many colleagues in Romania for her desire to understand both ancient historical phenomena and the mechanisms of the societies that once existed in the Carpathian-Pontic region. Her merit, in the eyes of those knowledgeable in the field, lies in having introduced American academic circles to the ideas, opinions, and assessments of Romanian specialists—almost unknown internationally—whom she regarded as true role models.

As previously mentioned, the work proposes an alternative approach to the territorial dynamics of Late Bronze Age communities by employing interdisciplinary methods that emphasize the relationship between humans and the space they inhabited or used. Moreover, the author's endeavor is commendable and highly necessary in contemporary historiography, which is dedicated not only to the Bronze Age but also to other historical periods.

The book People and Places: The Archaeology of Baia County (1914-1949) is one of the recent works dedicated to the interwar archaeology of the Cucuteni culture, published in 2022 by the National Museum of Bukovina – Karl A. Romstorfer Publishing House. The author of the work is Sorin Ignătescu, Associate Professor, PhD, at Ștefan cel Mare University of Suceava, an expert archaeologist, and one of the researchers focused on studying the Neolithic and Eneolithic periods in the East Carpathian region, particularly in the Suceava Plateau.
