Adopt-a-Book is a donation program which is well-known around the world. More than thirty years the preservation and restoration of collections in many European and American libraries have been supported through it. In the end of 2009 Bulgarian National Library started its own permanent program Adopt-a-Book. The chief priority of the project is the conservation of documents from special collection (manuscripts, old printed editions, photographs and etc.). This article aims to present the patterns, characteristics, achieved results and short history of the program. The text discusses also the donors as nowadays guardians of memory.

There are around twenty minorities in Serbia, and therefore the role of written speech in preserving the cultural identity of minorities is great. The author emphasizes the role of libraries in Tsaribrod and Bosilegrad in non-formal education of users, especially in preserving the language and culture of the Bulgarian national minority in Serbia. The organized activities and programs of the “Detko Petrov” National Library in Tsaribrod in connecting the Serbian and Bulgarian culture through literary meetings with Serbian and Bulgarian authors are presented as well as its role in promoting the work of literary activists from the Bulgarian minority in Serbia.

A book whose content was built through the skilful combination of different literary genres and through the use of knowledge from several scientific fields. It investigates the life path of two of the intellectual titans of the Bulgarian and Armenian people, the poet Teodor Trayanov and the general Garegin Nzhdeh. The Doctor of Philological Sciences Vidka Nikolova is the compiler and author of the scientific commentary at the beginning of the book. In addition to the textual part which was put together on the basis of documentary record, it also includes a section containing photocopies of documents, correspondence, title pages of books with autographs, paintings and photographs. The book is a superb result of the efforts, knowledge and skills of its compiler and author, Vidka Nikolova.

In this paper, the author reconstructs the beginnings of educational aids of classical literature by analyzing the earliest known series „Uchenicheska biblioteka” („Students’ Library”) in Bulgaria. It is rich in examples of emerging publishing Strategies and newly introduced changes in the editorial-publishing process that stimulated profiling in book publishing. The Series demonstrates modern publishing principles and proves that although they emerged in institutional environment and became integrated over time with additional educational and aesthetic functions, the teaching aids of literary classics represent a sustainable publishing segment binding schools with publishing business together.

Prospectus of the edition of the World universal bibliography (ІІІ c. BCХХІ c.) GENERATIO SPONTANEA by international team of authors, dedicated to the 140 th anniversary of the National Library St. St. Cyril and Methodius (NLCM) – contribution to the post modern scientific culture – as a gift to the libraries all over the world and of the premieres of the work, gone through three editions in 2018, presented – along with the jubilee edition of NLCM Treasury (2018) – and of the International Scientific Conference of NLCM Donation and the Culture of Giving (Sofia, 10/12/2018), with the participation of scientists and cultural figures from 11 countries (Azerbaijan, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany, Greece, Latvia, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine, Hungary, Chile), as well as from the Arctic Academy of Sciences (Helsinki, Stockholm, Oslo), International Informatization Academy at UN (Moscow), Noospheric Academy of Sciences and Russian National Library (Saint Petersburg). Another point that the paper stresses upon is that during the 100th anniversary celebrations of Saint Petersburg State Institute of Culture (SPSIC), training librarians, bibliographers and information specialists from 60 countries all over the world, A. Kumanova delivered on 19/12/2018 an emblematic lecture at the inaugural session presided by the rector of SPSIC Prof. DSc A. S. Turgaev and the Dean of the Library and Information Faculty Prof. DSc V. V. Brezhneva. The subject of this academic event was the school of Prof. I. V. Gudovshchikova on the international universal bibliography – an eminent architect of the biblioshere and historiographer of the bibliography of second degree (1977) – her famous predecessor was the American bibliographer A. Taylor (1955).

The Fiddler on the Roof is one of the popular musicals played by Transylvanian Hungarian theatres. In the 2022-23 season, three theatres performed it in parallel. Both the “Csíki Játékszín” Theatre and the Harag György Company of the Northern Theatre of Satu Mare scheduled the premiere for January this year, while the Hungarian Theatre of Cluj has been playing it since 2020. Mónika Rancz’s study approaches and analyses the three performances from the point of view of metaphors. She turns them around like a Rubik’s cube, guessing where each rotation would lead, and keeps trying until a common pattern emerges.

Akademik Zdravko Kordić večeras je došao među nama okićen s devet svojih knjiga u kojima je, rekao bih, isijao bisere iz bogate napisane riznice. Knjige je objavio u nakladi Vlade Vladića, koji je ujedno i urednik. Upisani su ocjenjivači: prof. dr. fra Andrija Nikić i fra Miljenko Stojić; lektor: dr. sc. Zdravko Kordić. Deveta knjiga sadrži prikaze: Drugi o Zdravku Kordiću (str. 5. – 147.), Ogledi (149. – 258.), životopis (259. – 264.) i kazalo (165. – 267.) Zdravko Kordić rođen je u Tihaljini 29. rujna 1955. Tu je završio i pučku školu, a gimnaziju u Ljubuškom. Filozofiju i sociologiju završio je u Sarajevu, 1978. Prvotno je počeo pisati pjesme. Još 1973. g. dobiva nagradu Šimićevih susreta za ciklus pjesama mladih pjesnika, a iste je godine uvršten u Panoramu hercegovačkoga pjesništva u časopisu „Lica“ iz Sarajeva.

This article aims to review the current tendencies of the application of serious games in the context of institutions, which specialize in textual cultural heritage, such as libraries and archives. The employment of gamification in the field of cultural heritage allows for the creation of digital learning possibilities and creates new ways to promote historically significant texts, thereby providing users with the opportunity to learn about cultural heritage in an innovative and engaging way. The article will look at the application possibilities and some specific areas where the literary heritage can be helped by serious games.

Krastyo Pishurka is a heavily underrated Bulgarian Renaissance leading figure. His ‘Bulgarian-made’ translations allowed society back then to understand everything clearly and precisely. This is exactly why we must not forget to salute him. He is one of the few people who carried our nation on his shoulders and helped us grow and awaken.

The National Library “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” published the second part of the “Inscription of documents on the economic history of Bulgaria”, compiled by Vera Vasileva, which covers the period 1879–1920). The idea to continue efforts in this direction arose after the release in 2019 of the first part of the inventory and the rapid exhaustion of the edition. The author continues the topic of the economic development of Bulgaria in order to cover it in its entirety, at least as far as the documentary array stored in the BIA at the National Library “St. St. Cyril and Methodius ” (NBKM).
