The following text reached us from the GDR. Its authenticity is guaranteed and, as the reader familiar with the theme will recognize, is also proved by the nature of the text and the way in which its authors are arguing. Only so much can be said here about the authors: they see themselves as left-wing, socialist oppositionists to the existing system of the GDR; they expressly wish to have their paper printed in the SOK info, in the »gegenstimmen« and in other progressive publications in the West. They have sent us the text with the intention of influencing the discussion within the GDR. It is a text from the GDR for the GDR; the publication in the West is due only to the circumstanc-es. The authors see their sphere of influence in the other German state, they do not want to be a "case" for Western leftists with this impression, especially since they do not want their article misunderstood as a completed analysis and not as a finished ac-tion program. Rather, it is an attempt to come a little closer to this goal, to motivate it for a deeper analysis and to stimulate communication about it. Comments are therefore also desired, also from former GDR citizens, who now (have to) live in West Germany and West Berlin. Rudolf Bahro, for example, is addressed directly in the text. The authors do not want their text to be overrated. No spectacular events are to be expected in the GDR in the foreseeable future; the 12 proposals for action are tailored to this relative stability of the system. On the other hand, they take account of the fact that the left-wing opposi-tion figures in the GDR are numerically weak and, moreover, scattered into small dis-cussion groups and individuals who have hardly any contact with one another. The feasible in this situation moves below the level of organized socialist action, but it is the precondition for it.

»Ellenpontok« is a samizdat periodical. Their appearance is sporadic. Its goal is to cover all restrictions on the civil rights of East Central European people and, in particular, the political, economic and cultural oppression of the Transylvanian Hungarians. For obvious reasons, we cannot disclose the names of our authors, unless they are reprints of texts already published abroad. We ask our readers for support for our project.

In the transition period from democracy to communism, the first publications that appeared in the Mureş county after the eliberation of Transylvania Egalitatea-Egyenlöség (Equality), Înfrăţirea (Brotherhood), Ardealul Nou (New Transylvania), Cuvântul tineretului-Ifjúság Szava (Youth Word) confirmed the experience that the local communist press had gathered during the interwar period, when Tîrgu Mureş was among the most important centers of the communist press. Between 1944-1947, the democratic press resistance meant the appearance of only one publication - Mureşul (1946). In this context, Ardealul Nou (1946-1952) had the longest appearance of the period, marked by two intervals: the beginning period as a ,,democratic paper” (1946-1947) and the communist period (1948-1952), which draw together the profile of this publication as the first page of communism in Mureş, but also as the most important journalistic local accomplishment of the late 40s, introducing another paper, Steaua roşie (The Red Star), which later became the voice of the communist period in the Mureş area.

In his paper, based on actual facts and data, the author briefly but eloquently presents the transformation of the repressive institution formerly known as State Security, and which, after 1948, became Communist State Security. In this respect, the author uses edited data, from open sources, as well as original data, coming from a valuable archivistic stock, namely from the Stock - Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Hungarian Autonomous Region. It is a paper which, by means of the ideas it brings forward, can become a starting point for other research or for the after 1952 period, since the author only speaks about a certain period.

This paper has discussed humor in the time of dictatorship by analyzing the types of humor and highlighting the names of humourists. This article denies the Australian anthropology Shanon Woodcock, who concluded that Albania lacked anecdotes against socialism. Çapaliku finds anecdotes that mock socialism and the dictator Enver Hoxha and also finds documents that prove how humorists were eavesdropped on and denounced.

Joining the European Union has been treated as a chance for Poland and other post-communist countries to improve their economic growth and development. It was clear from the beginning that it was going to be a long and demanding process in which success is only possible if appropriate economic policies are pursued. That policy should provide stable frameworks to support business development, attract foreign direct investments (FDI), keep the discipline in public finances and assure the right institutional ability and managerial skills to absorb the EU funds. According to forecasts by The McKinsey Quarterly from 2004, 5% Poland's economic growth rate was to require around USD 10 billion of annual FDI inflow! The aim of this study was identifying the leaders in attracting FDI among post-communist European Union member states in the period of 2004-2020. The research showed a huge variation in attracting foreign capital among eleven post-communist EU members. Estonia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia seem to be winners in this race, leaving Poland far behind.

Public advocacy of Slavic mutuality and solidarity was an essential component of Soviet ‘soft power’ in the 1940s war-torn Europe. Being conceptualised by Stalin’s government in order to strengthen influence over occupied Eastern Europe, it was driven by a propaganda abundant with national liberation, anti-fascism, social equality and democratisation traits, while warily covering up its communist agenda under a non-revolutionary facade. In postwar Croatia, Slavic consonance was particularly propagandised by the Slavic Committee of Croatia (dependent on the Slavic Committee of Yugoslavia), a para-political learned society whose mission was heavily influenced by both the ongoing Communist revolutionary ideologisation and the escalating Cold War polarisation. Lackeyed by the Yugoslav Communist Party, the Committee commended propaganda efforts that had already been carried out to perpetrate the aestheticisation and glorification of the Soviet Union, through painting its adversaries as enemies of peace and democracy, imperialist war-mongers, servants of capitalists, etc. The Committee was eager to conduct a ruthless defamation of Western democracy and pluralism, in order to heap praise on the Soviets. Considering the fact that the Committee was established in 1946 as an instrument intended to spread the political influence of the USSR, its existence closely followed the dynamics of Soviet-Yugoslav relations, so it disappeared shortly after the Tito-Stalin split in 1948.
