Rizičnost visokoškolskoga glazbenog obrazovanja za zdravlje studenata i edukacija studenata glazbe o očuvanju zdravlja i prevenciji profesionalnih bolesti

Author(s): Lidija Nikolić / Language(s): Croatian Issue: 16/2022

The paper examines the risk of academic music education for the health of students, and the inclusion of adequate health education for music students in study programmes at music academies in the Republic of Croatia. Results of contemporary scientific research have shown that young musicians, included in specialized music education, begin as early as in their childhood suffering from physical and mental problems connected with performing music. These problems escalate at the beginning of their studies. Frequent occurrence of physical and mental problems among students and professional musicians shows that engaging in highly skilled music presents a risk in the context of the health of musicians-performers. The analysis of study programmes for musicians-performers conducted at music academies in Croatia (N = 51) has shown that there exist neither courses nor any consistence regarding the set study outcomes in other study programme courses, which cover health education. The academic education of future music professionals and pedagogues in Croatia includes no necessary courses either for the preservation of physical and mental health or for the prevention of professional illnesses. Expressed is the need for conducting empirical research of the presence of health problems and education of students regarding potential health risks, and ways to seek advice and help. Results of this research and the proposed empirical research among students of music might be helpful in connection with raising awareness of the importance of the health education of future professional musicians and music pedagogues. They might furthermore be of help in the context of the implementation of a systematic education aimed at the preservation of the physical and mental health of students of music academies.

Głos ze świata. „Wersy o koniecznym oporze” Szczepana Kopyta

Głos ze świata. „Wersy o koniecznym oporze” Szczepana Kopyta

Author(s): Patryk Szaj / Language(s): Polish Issue: 2 (20)/2022

Patryk Szaj attempts to inscribe Szczepan Kopyt’s Wersy o koniecznym oporze [Verses about the Necessary Resistance] into the theoretical framework of the Capitalocene. The starting point is the reconstruction of the conditio of criticism in the Anthropocene. He opposes the beliefs expressed by some representatives of the Anthropocene discourse that criticism is ineffective in the face of the planetary challenges of this epoch. He argues that we criticism is till needed, as is also emphasized by the concept of the Capitalocene as an alternative to the Anthropocene. Next, Szaj moves on to a dialogue with Kopyt’s work. Using both the findings of critical theory and (new)materialistic concepts, Szaj points to Kopyt’s debt to both these traditions. He shows that Kopyt has managed to avoid the “speaking out of nowhere” that is associated with criticism. Kopyt speaks “from the world,” and his voice is that of a participant. This perspective, reconstructed in the article on the basis of Kopyt’s Wersy o koniecznym oporze, allows the poet to diagnose the anachronism of some Marxist heterodox practices (autonomism), as well as to note and creatively develop the positive and negative entanglements of human and inhuman actors in the era of Capitalocene.

Технологичното решение за изнасяне на подкастите на БНР в отделна среда

Author(s): Alexandra Ilieva / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 13/2023

The Podcast as a separate format has gradually become more and more popular in the Bulgarian National Radio network. This process was initiated back in 2019 when “BETAgames” became the first ever BNR podcast. The development of the podcasts in the BNR network went through different stages, each of which implemented different technical and consumer solutions. These technological solutions to a very large extent influenced and shaped the way the audience accepted the new format. The article studies these different stages with a strong accent on the implemented solutions and the feedback from the audience. In addition, the article includes some recommendations that would increase the popularity and the reach of the podcasts in the BNR framework, resulting in an even higher level of fulfilment of the statutory mission of the Bulgarian public service radio.

Author(s): Ihor Zadorozhnyі / Language(s): Ukrainian Issue: 1/2023

The purpose of the article is to generalise and clarify the sources of the musical texts of irmoses’ canons of the Baptism of Jesus and the Epiphany of Church Prostopinije by Bokshay-Malynych in 1906 through the prism of close relation with the manuscript and printed irmologions of the XVII-XIX centuries. The research methodology is based on a complex system approach combining a critical understanding of literature, source studies, music-analytical, comparative methods in the analysis of musical texts. In the comparative analysis of irmoses of different lists, we use the scientific provisions by O. Tsalai-Yakymenko regarding the formative principles of time dimensional metric in sacral monody. The scientific novelty of the research consists in clarifying the sources of the musical texts of irmoses’ canons of the Baptism of Jesus and the Epiphany of Church Prostopinije by Bokshay-Malynych in 1906, structuring of the musical material, features of changes in the formation of condensed forms of singing liturgical texts. Conclusions. The analysis of irmoses’ musical texts of the Baptism of Jesus and the Epiphany of Prostopinije shows a direct connection with the manuscript and printed irmologions. The main differences in Prostopinije's irmoses are caused due to the orientation of church singers to concise and simplified forms of singing liturgical texts, the use of several typical chants, as a result of which the new intonation formations have taken place. Comparisons of musical texts from various sources demonstrate the peculiarities of the pattern formations, the preservation and renewal of ancient forms of sacral monody in regional church singing practice at the beginning of the 20th century.

Bottom-up Content Convergence Phenomena in Socialist Cultural Economies: The Case of Premodern Story Universes of Romanian Film and Music

Author(s): Constantin Parvulescu,Emanuel COPILAȘ / Language(s): English Issue: 03/2023

Our article focuses on an instance of cross-media content convergence in state-socialist cultural economies. We deliver a cultural studies intervention addressing the hybrid nature of the cultural economies of the former Soviet Bloc. We show that this instance of convergence was not the effect of a top-down imposition of a policy of state-socialist power, but rather a bottom-up phenomenon, triggered by artistic and economic interests and more specific to capitalism. These interests respond to consumer demand, competition, and box-office success. We borrow the concept of convergence from the writings of Henry Jenkins. Our case study explores a synergy of content between cinema and rock music in 1970s Romania, generating evidence by means of close readings and exploration of reception and production information. Under scrutiny are the adventure film The Immortals (Sergiu Nicolaescu, Romania, 1975) and the music and public presentation of the Romanian band Phoenix. We argue that the inclusion of Phoenix’s music in the soundtrack of the film is a key testimony to bottom-up convergence, marking a synergy of discourses that independently developed the same story universe. We show that this synergy took place because the two discourses had the potential to boost each other’s artistic and economic performance.

Muzyka przyszłości. Muzyczne projekty science fiction

Author(s): Andrzej Juszczyk / Language(s): Polish Issue: 1 (21)/2023

In his article Andrzej Juszczyk focuses on science fiction projects carried out in popular music, including the work of Kraftwerk, Gary Numan and Nine Inch Nails. Juszczyk discusses both the aspects that constitute specific stories within the represented worlds as well as the sound layer responsible for the projects’ highly immersive character. The music and the sounds heard in these artists’ music can be regarded as experimental signs of the future not only because of the subject matter of the songs. An important element of the projects consists in their innovative and original creation process, which goes far beyond the expectations of average listeners.
