Perspektywa CSR a cel działania przedsiębiorstwa – studium na przykładzie wybranych spółek

This paper addresses the problem of implementing CSR concept in enterprises, with regard to the way the corporate objective is defined. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the way the corporate objective is defined in the largest public companies listed in the WIG30 index. The method of content analysis is applied to analyze the reports, documents and information posted on the corporate websites. The analysis shows that companies define objectives in a very different way, referring to the category of value (understood in different ways), the financial categories and ratios or the expectations of the different stakeholders. The majority of the analyzed companies explicitly emphasize the issues of social responsibility and sustainable development. However, these objectives are not always articulated in a direct way, which may be inadequate from the point of view of stakeholders’ information needs.

From resilience to hybridization of development – reflections on the Central European regions

Linking businesses with new technologies leads to unbalanced growth due to the different types and usefulness of location advantages. Building, in such conditions, the ability to territorial resilience, is striving to achieve functional diversity, creating solutions that have flexibility in relation to changing needs. The increase in density of functions can be likened to hybrid or patchwork transformations in space. The attempts to develop such issues in the context of resilience were divided into the following problems: (I) What is the hybridization of development as a result of building resilience of regions? (II) How are economic development processes evolving, creating a hybrid character of change? (III) How does the hybridization, as an effect of regional resilience capacity building, manifest itself in the CER? Thus the main aim of the paper focuses on defining the concept of hybridization in the context of resilience capacity building in the CER.

AbstractIntroduction. The article presents a study on application of lean manufacturing (lean production) model to improve process and resource management of healthcare settings at the modern stage of healthcare development. The purpose of the article is to explore the application of lean manufacturing (lean production) model to solve problems of national health systems and sustainable development of healthcare settings on the basis of international experience, and to introduce the author's model of integration of lean production and the concept of sustainable development. Materials and Methods. The research methods include General scientific methods of empirical and theoretical knowledge, General logical methods and techniques, methods of system analysis, comparisons and analogies, generalization, and the author’s socio-hygienic study of factors influencing sustainability of healthcare settings in modern conditions. Results. The author identifies the major problems of healthcare industry in a range of countries, the solution of which lies in sustainable development. It is noted that the focus of researchers of health systems in different countries, is, on the one hand, on improving the quality of medical care to the population under the economical expenditure of funds and other resources, on the other hand, on the problem of ensuring the activities of healthcare settings aimed at achieving the maximum benefit from available financial, material and human resources. It is emphasized that technology of lean production and six Sigma (Lean Six Sigma (LSS)) is a widely used method for process improvement in spheres of production and services. The article analyses significant issues of using lean manufacturing model and six Sigma to achieve sustainability of healthcare settings and solve a number of problems of national health systems. The author presents the results of sociological and expert poll of managers, defining key directions for improving processes in healthcare settings to achieve sustainability of their development. The article introduces the author's approach to the integration of lean principles and the concept of sustainable development of healthcare settings. Conclusions. The author concludes that introduction of certain principles of lean production can contribute to sustainable development of healthcare settings.

Annotation: it is conducted a scenario analysis of strategic development priorities resort cluster as an example of the Zakarpattia Oblast of Ukraine, is allocated and revealed in detail by the system of indicators two qualitatively different scenarios for the sustainable development of the business environment of the spa cluster in the long term - inertia and innovation development. The result of the innovation scenario realization is predicted in three periods: the adaptation period to the new conditions of cluster organizations (length - two years), period of accelerated growth and modernization (duration - two years) and the formation period of the cluster environment with new quality (implementation period - at least four years).

The article shortly presents the influence the structure and the culture of an organization may have on the style and the speed of the company development, as well as on its competitiveness level. After brief presentation of the notions used both in the title and in the course of the article, there has been presented two companies which were long monopolists in their home market and which are presently forced not only to compete within their native area, but also share the ambition to dominate in other regions. Both companies have similar organization structure, yet they seem to differ when the organization culture and the yearly results are concerned. That is why there have been proposed some possible ways of changes thanks to which it would be possible to increase the competitiveness not only when one considers new markets, but also in the situation when the home market changes fast enough to force actions different from the previously effective ones.

The paper deals with the problem of organizational culture importance for the success of retail companies. This problem is analyzed in the framework of environment theory of developing the sustainable competitive advantage. Definitions, dimensions of the organizational culture as well as service culture which is characteristic for service companies, is presented. The importance of organizational culture for the distinctive positioning, some aspects of its development and the cases when it can become the barrier of further development are illustrated by the examples of Wal-Mart and Home Depot.

The article attempts to model the behavior of municipalities in the changeable surrounding. The basis for differentiation of the strategic behavior of the municipalities were endogenous and exogenous factors affecting the decisions of self – government entities, influencing on the nature of risk of their policy of revenue and expenditure, and thus affected on the final results and their development. Depending on the level of municipal development, local capacity and the level of activity three models of strategic behavior were distinguished. Having taken into account upon mentioned criteria the models have been arranged as: a conservative model, model of exploration of opportunities in the surrounding and model of creating of development.

Newconnect – nowy rynek wspomagający rozwój małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw w Polsce

NewConnect is an innovative transactional system of alternative trading of securities in Poland, organized and established by the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Despite it is still in the early stage of development, fast enlarging groups of issuers and investors take interest of it. In practice, its raising popularity is confirmed by the significant number of IPOs, which have taken place within the first year of its functioning. The NewConnect market enables relatively quick and efficient gathering of equity by the small companies from innovative industries – especially start-ups. On the other hand this market is a destination of investments of domestic individual investors. Thanks to the specific character of the market and listed companies, the investors have possibility of gaining substantial profits within several years. However NewConnect investments carry very high risk.

In the paper there are presented current problems concerning rules of limiting of the debts in local government. Foreshadowed tendencies over the recent years evidence gradual enlarging of the debts in local government. This produces the necessity of the new look on problems of qualifying of maximum safe limits of the debts. Prepared changes in low regulations in this range are an advance in the thorough reconstruction of the financial system of local government, especially in debt limitation.

The system of local and regional loan and guarantee funds, which is being created in Poland for the last several year, offers to entrepreneurs more and more capital, friendly procedures, knowledge of local economic conditions, individual attitude and professional service. Such offer provides SMEs with the wider range of alternative and adequate sources of external financing. Loan and guarantee funds became a natural element of SME financing system. The aim of the article is the evaluation of the funds as regional entrepreneurship stimulators. On the basis of analysis of primary features e.g. loan (guarantee) capital, number and value of loans (guarantees) granted, the performance of loan and guarantee funds in Poland in the years 2003–2007 was presented. Especially, the position of the West Pomeranian funds against the background of the entire national system was pointed.

Fundusze hedgingowe jako innowacyjna forma inwestowania na rynkach finansowych

Hedge funds are fast developing financial institutions strongly influencing financial markets in many countries. Their role in risk transferring, stock liquidity enhancing and derivatives markets development is substantial. Hedge funds are entities with very limited access to retail investors. They also implement very specific investment policies and complex financial techniques based on financial leverage, short selling of stock, as well as derivatives combination. Because of a lack of strict investing norms, limited transparency and lack of substantial supervisory of national financial supervisory institutions, the hedge funds are usually perceived as very risky. However, they also give to the investors the effective alternative in comparison with traditional financial institution offer. In last several years the substantial increase of the hedge funds market was observed. Also, hedge funds offer started to expand in Poland. What Determines the Saving Rate in Western Balkan Countries?

This paper presents the research of saving and its determinants in Western Balkan countries. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between various macroeconomic and demographic indicators, on the one side, and gross national saving rate in Western Balkan countries including Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania and Serbia, on the other side and, using the examples from available empirical literature, to develop the model which would produce the highest number of significant variables possible, given the available data. After the model is created, it is further tested for significance and typical statistical assumptions including autocorrelation, homoscedasticity, normality, cross-sectional independence and multicolinearity. Data used for the purpose of the statistical model are collected for the period between 2000 and 2015. Results obtained show GDP, GDP growth, gross domestic savings, domestic credit, inflation, urban population and total age dependency as statistically significant, while unemployment rate, deposit rate and investment rate are insignificant. According to the the model developed, Western Balkan countries should focus on contributing to their GDP’s, increasing productivity and per capita incomes, in order to improve the rate of gross national savings.
